Once again, folks, the discontinuance of the Memorial when Jesus "arrives" is the most logical part of the whole outline. The problem is that the WT says he "arrived" by taking deceased anointed ones up to heaven to be with him starting in 1914. Um, okay, so the next time a friend invites me over, and then calls me to see why I haven't arrived yet, I'll say "I thought you were coming over here. Once you get here, we'll be in the same place, and I'll have arrived", and see how that goes over.

warped logic from the memorial talk
by why144000 inspeaker said we should not partake because when jesus arrives he will take the remnat to heaven and the memorial will be no more.
just as we will not partake then (because the memorial will not exist) it is only logical that we will not partake now.
warped logic at its finest!.

Big Bang........ Big silence....
by snare&racket ini am 32, old enough to remember being told to refute the big bang as untrue by my parents and the religion they brought me up in.. it was a big decision for me even as a teen, i knew i was choosing a side, i remember my physics teacher laughing and mocking me and the other jw for denying the big bang.
our parents arranged that in our exams we were allowed to answer questions on the big bang in a unique manner:.
"scientists claim......... but as a jw i do not subscribe to this belief.".

@Londo111: Indeed.
But can someone explain to me how those pictures of the supposed Israelite view of the universe mesh with the scripture about the earth 'hanging on nothing'?

Welcome, your story is very interesting, especially for those of us who never saw "behind the curtain", into the elders' meetings.

100 Years of Disappointment on the Horizon
by mrquik ineven as an elder, i had doubts as to this being "the one true religion".
i personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates.
fortunately, i left years ago.

Is the 2014 thing speculation on our part or have they actually printed something vaguely indicating 2014 may be the new year?
mrquik was being tongue-in-cheek or else wildly speculating. 1914 is still supposed to be the start of Jesus' reign until we hear something different.

The reason they like to highlight the suffering of Jesus at the memorial
by Xanthippe inis so they can then use it as an excuse to make the congregation work even harder.
surely if jesus had six-inch nails hammered through his hands you can do more in field service.. if jesus could die of slow asphyxiation on the torture stake you can get to the convention even if you have four kids and two jobs or are 93 and nearly blind.. you are letting jesus down and making his agony count for nothing if you don't give until it hurts.. this is why they talk about a man being tortured to death in graphic detail in front of little children as i once was at the kingdon hall.
this is why i dreaded the memorial..

Nooooo, Xanthippe, don't give in to the lure of those pagan fertility symbols! You heard what sir82 said, the talk doesn't focus on Jesus' suffering anymore... the religion is so different now! It's so warm and positive! Come back to us, Xanthippeeeeeee

Faithful and Discreet Slave parable through the three gospels
by pixel inthis is the parable of the faithful and discreet slave, put up from the three gospels, so you can see their differences (3 gospels out of 4 relate this):.
matthew 24:42-51: (prefered by the gb/fds/gb).
42 keep on the watch, therefore, because ?you?

Honestly, I'm not seeing how this is problematical for the WT's FDS interpretation. Granted, as Londo111 said, this was a parable and has no prophetic fulfillment, but...
Matthew 24:42-51: (Prefered by the GB/FDS/GB)
[...]
Questions:
On verse 49 it says: "His fellow slaves". Who are they? If they are fellows, they mean they are at the same level.
They were at the same level, until the master appointed one servant over the other domestics. Similarly, the modern-day F&DS are supposed to be just like the rest of us initially, 'fellow workers in the Lord', until their specific attributes and service to God earns them the promotion over the other domestics. The new light on the F&DS interpretation actually takes us closer to a logical explanation rather than further away in this one respect: that all those in the organization who are not preparing the "spiritual food" (whichever "hope" they have) are the domestics.
Mark 13:34-37
[...]
Questions:
On verse 34, Jesus starts with: "It's like a man..." from this, you can say he will talk using an example or parable. He speaks about more than one slave. Mark omits the "feeding". The important part here is "keep on the watch".
Yes, there is more than one slave, however that doesn't conflict with the other parables where extra authority is given to one especially 'faithful and wise servant'. Put another way, the WT can simply say that we are all slaves, but only one (composite) person is the 'faithful and discreet' slave.
Luke 12:35-48:
[...]
Questions:
On verse 38, Jesus speaks about more than one slave. Here on verse 45, Jesus introduces male and female servants. Who are they?
See my answer to question 1.

I remember countless Sunday talks mocking the idea of a Big Bang, of course they were laced in ignorance of the theory, with no effort to look at the evidence, but it was said without hesitation.
They might be objecting to the "random accident" aspect of it, but they're not supposed to be questioning how the universe (was) formed (by God), that is outside the scope of JW beliefs.
This is new to me, I always thought the big bang was accepted as fact even among JW's, I've mentioned it a few times to various folk and had no real comments about it.
Indeed, I know an anointed brother who has no problem with the Big Bang theory and has been known mention it in comments/talks.

Our speaker stated that Abraham never even thought about going to heaven...
Yes, our speaker stated this very emphatically, about Abraham, Isaac, and the other usual faithful servants of old.
Anyway, I think a lot of you are very confused right now Perhaps your speakers did a bad job of making the point, but please read this scripture out loud:
26 For as often as YOU eat this loaf and drink this cup, YOU keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives.
(1 Cor. 11:26)
