@Tweetie... that is most of the time the way it goes... just give everyone the time to swallow the new situation. In my situation I was very harshly because I was very upset about all the things I found out but now I am more quietly with it and I swallow critisism when I think it would not help my cause. I am coping with it quite well and most JW's are still nice to me (one even came by for a drink while in service).

Has the organization changed their policy toward inactive ones?
by TweetieBird infor the past few years, family members and long time friends have pretty much ignored us because we don't go to meetings.
recently, my sister (a regular pioneer) asked me to friend her on facebook, my mother-in-law (a regular pioneer) actually visited us and stayed in our home and another friend that i haven't heard from in years just asked me to friend her on facebook.
just curious..

"God's Word Is Beneficial..." 2013/14 Circuit Assembly "Highlights"
by 88JM injust had the circuit assembly this weekend here:.
surprisingly not much fuss over the new bible considering that this was the first meeting for most here to use it (the annual meeting was "invite only" for a select few here, and there was no thursday meeting because of this assembly) and having a new bible was only referred to fairly briefly in a comment about how "wonderful" it is (and in the closing prayer).
i think i was the only one there with an old maroon nwt - i got a confused look from one of the elders - haha!

I think it will depend on the individuals. My brother who is absolutely pro-JW is very very nice and he knows how I am standing against the JW's (I even called CT Russell an apostate in an argument ;)).

Any proof that more JW's are leaving in greater numbers then before?
by Crazyguy inor is it just wishful thinking on our parts?.

Since they are encouraging very young kids to get baptised means they are quite affraid that the ammount of members will significantly drop in the near future if these do not get baptised.

The motives behind Genesis (and the rest of the Bible)
by DeWandelaar ini was in thinking mode this morning and since i am writing a roman based on a part of the genesis account i suddenly came to a weird sort of motive of the writer of genesis.
going beyond a blogpost of adamah about the true meaning of the tree of knowledge i come to the following conclusion:.
the writer of genesis wants to promote obedience at cost of knowledge.

I was in thinking mode this morning and since I am writing a roman based on a part of the genesis account I suddenly came to a weird sort of motive of the writer of Genesis. Going beyond a blogpost of Adamah about the true meaning of the tree of knowledge I come to the following conclusion:
The writer of Genesis wants to promote obedience at cost of knowledge
Why?
According to the Genesis account the male and female were created by Gods image (not totally though since they did not have the knowledge but that is a small inconsistency you need to get used to) according to the wellwritten blog of Adamah. Now something happens... the female wants to obtain the fruit of the tree. Now what was the fruit? Was it an apple or a pear? No... the fruit was "KNOWLEDGE" and "KNOWLEDGE" leaded to socalled SIN. Even TOUCHING it (or in case of knowledge TRYING to THINK) was lethal in the eyes of the writer.
Now... before they ate from that fruit they aparently where doing quite simple tasks now didn't they? They had to take care of the garden and the animals and they had to breed in order to get the species called "mankind" to multiply. No thinking involved too much there. The writer of the Genesis-account is stating that that is paradise. Just doing what is said you should be doing... skip the thinking.
Thinking further about that it is quite easy that the writer tries to discourage knowledge:According to the writer of Genesis KNOWLEDGE is the wedge between a beliefsystem in a DEITY and a beliefsystem WITHOUT a DEITY. It is the wedge that leads to destruction. That is at least what the writer is telling you.
A beliefsystem based on a DEITY leads to obedience and slavery... slavery to men who point to the deity and their beliefsystem (aka known as religion). A beliefsystem based on knowledge skips the deity and therefore the slavery to other men. The last version is not the version a ruler or a person with an agenda wants to happen since it means they have no attachments to these people and can not lead to taking them captives of their "power".
If we look further in the bible we see the same things:
Samuel is talking about "Obedience above sacrifices"
David is talking about that we are not able to follow our own footsteps
Paul is suggesting that filosophy is not idle
Etc etc etc.
The whole bible and especially the writer(s) of the bible are suggesting obedience to a beliefsystem and it started at the Genesis-account.

Hi Freedom4all... the thing is that some not even gets the chance to search or chase for a purpose... some die even before they are born and some live and yet they don't. I sometimes consider myself as one of those... the ones that live and yet don't, well... not really. Do I enjoy things? Yes I do... I take pictures of things I like and love to bring back memories of things that are good in live... mostly it is from the past 8-9 years... I do things I like to do (within the boundaries I in)... I am a husband and I have kids. But overall... if every emotion is stripped of all these things (and I am quite good at that) things just don't matter...
If you were a small kid and get it drilled into you from the start it is hard to suddenly switch a button and simply "enjoy". As a kid I almost ate those books that were printed... I was probably one of the most zealous, wiseassed witnesskids you could get and the insiders hated me for that... I remember I was excited when new books came out. I even read yearbooks of years before I was born. About what happened in the war with all those witnesses who disobeyed. I got beaten and battered by youths for my "faith", for me just being me and noone understood... not even my parents who were supposed to understand. So I did what I always did... I fought mindbattles and teached myself all the things that were necessary since there was noone else to do so.
If you have a family and are on the wrong side of the fence since everyone is still in it is hard to enjoy the things. And it is even worse if you start knowing the truth... not necessarily the truth about the JW... but the truth about live and all that is in it.
I have changed... mostly in the "faith"-department... but it is THE department that was mostly my life... my being. It was THE thing I was good at... denying the fact that it exists is some sort of selfdenial as well... I will cope with it... I will survive it... But it is a heavy burden to carry.
I hate feeling alone and misunderstood
O well... it is important to understand this... there is no spoon
