Do you get it yet?

there are about 6 billion people that live on this planet today.

it is most intriguing to realize that we are nearly all identical.

our genetic, social, psychological, emotional and spiritual similarities far outweigh our differences.. humans are human whether primitive or industrialized, male or female, african, asian or caucasian, or tall or short.. the paradox is that each of us also feels so unique that we spend the greater part of our lives trying to explain ourselves to each other in the hope that we can be heard or understood, as if no one else could possibly know what it is like to live in our skin.. if we can agree on nothing else, we seem to agree that one of the primary threads that run throughout all of human existence is struggle.

Very insightful and intelligent. Too bad more people can't use such a fair approach but instead prefer the quick condemnation of anyone perceived as "different" or "peculiar". The "them vs. us" mentality is so nonproductive.

My question to you... Can the same be said of organizations? For instance, can an organization that has obvious faults (as any organization involving humans will invariably have)also have many good aspects that can be a blessing for some, many, or possibly even most people? And if this is so, why be so quick to sling mud at an organization, religious or non, that may be of benefit to others if not to ourselves?

Not referring to you doing the mudslinging, but just in general terms.

anyone pick up the latest copy of newsweek?

on the cover is a bunch of mormomns and they stare at me as if to say bwahahahaha.. anyone read the article?

it looks in favor of mormons and ignores the many signs of it being a cult.

Hi, bboyneko,

You asked if we Mormons owned that magazine. I wish we did so we could deny payment to the reporter until he went back to SLC and did a better job of researching his article, and changed the whole tone of the article from a mocking "oh, boy, I can't wait...the Mormons are gonna get exposed now!" to something resembling the truth.

But it is typical of the tripe put out by nonmembers who are selling what the public at large prefers to read and we aren't paying his salary. We aren't buying the mag either, since it has been sent out via the web to nearly everyone so we don't need to add to their coffers in support of poor journalism.

Other than that, it was fine! : )

Bethel Closed Today!

i had a victim call me after they had called bethel this morning.

they were informed bethe was offically closed till 1:30 pm for a special meeting with the bethel family.

would anyone care to speculate or verify the purpose of the meeting?

Anybody else had visions?

when i was separating from my wife and leaving the jws, i had some visions.

for some strange reason, i decided not to eat for a day, then when i found my thinking clearer and my emotions mellower, i fasted for another two days.

so after the third day, i was walking down our street and i saw the houses burning after me, i felt this was an affirmation that marriage was decay and destruction, or wasteage.

As I said, I'm sure some will mock. As I said, feel free. Makes exactly no difference to me. I know it works. Other tests have verified it time and again. Scoffers of Columbus used to be soooooo certain the world was flat, too. Hmmmmm. Maybe that's why The Love Boat finally went off the air.

Hi, Deacon,

You said you can feel the patient's injury without touching them... Yes, that is now a recognized science in the field of energy therapy. The hospital I worked at paid for those of us who had an aptitude for that to be trained in it at their expense. It's also taught at the local college under Health heading. The reason it's recognized now is simply a matter of economics since the patients who have had energy therapy, such as the Therapeutic Touch (which is non-touching, actually, as you described) heal faster, go home quicker, and cost the insurance companies less money than those who refuse such therapies. JWs, btw, almost ALWAYS refuse to even consider receiving it as they think it is some sort of witchcraft or voodoo or whatever. It spooks them. It's been used in the orient for centuries, probably even longer. About time we caught up with them.

Just thought I'd share that. For any who want to know more, read "Hands of Light". And yes, I am certain there will be those who scoff and mock. Feel free.

Visions? Yes, many have had genuine ones, and many still do. Some awake, some in sleep. Some audible voices. Some "strong impressions". Often they run in families...As in mine. The women in my family have had these occurrances for many generations now. Interestingly, the JW member of my family still does, and still believes in them, though she won't tell anyone that since it goes contrary to the party line.

Basically, if you've experienced them, you know they're real. If you haven't, their nonsense. As the other postings on this thread show.

Thank you for writing that lengthy treatise on JW doctrine. It struck home with chilling forcefullness why I am not now, never have been, and never could be part of that organization. It is pure hate talk in many places. It encourages lack of love, lack of compassion, total denial of normal, healthy bonds of family and friends, and causes JWs everywhere to see evil "demons" and other assorted boogeymen around every corner and in every shadow. It causes all "good" JWs to doubt the motives, intent, heart, and faith of all those outside their organization, whether they had ever been part of the organization or not.

It is very, very sad to think that so many believe your words represent God's will in their lives.

Thank you again for this excellent treatise. I will print it out for future reference.

JW & non-JW Relationship...gone bad?

hey i'm not a jehovah witness but i need some points of views from you on this subject[i had nice long written version but it was deleted on accident when i tryed to backspace].

anywayz i started dating a jehovah witness a little under a year ago...she wasnt to beleiving in the religion and wasnt to big on it but her mom made her go every thursday and sunday none the less.

she knew her mom wouldnt accept her in a relationship.

Sorry to tell you, but you are in a total losing position here. You are not going to win her parents over, and after past actions you and she have been involved in, they will never allow you near her or them, unless they are idiots. Parents believe they are doing the best by their children, or most believe they are, anyway. Whether they are or not, unless what they are doing is actually illegal, nobody can interfere and get away with it. The parents will only come down harder on the child in question, with more rules, more restrictions, more watchfulness, and less opportunity for the child to go the other way than the parents want.

Not fair? Probably not. But to the parents' way of thinking, what you have tried to do is definitely not fair. I threatened more than one of my teens' suitors with jail and/or physical harm if they didn't end attempted relationships my husband and I did not approve of. That is a natural protective instinct for a parent. Trying to go around them will only make them close ranks even tighter.

Bottom line...You and she want to go your own way? As soon as you are both of legal age, feel free. Until then, you are only butting your heads against a stone wall.

BTW -- an arrest record is not a good thing to have. It's not worth it.

I'm not JW, but that's my 2 cents, as a parent.
