Okay, so what's wrong with open toed shoes? Are sandals a no-no, too? Why?
And panty hose on a child is absurd. She's a CHILD.

she just told me last night that she has a part.
it is with her dad.
she will be talking about a music teacher "making fun" of her for not participating in singing holiday songs.

occasionally we get accused of being too harsh and venomous with the jws and the wts that directs them in all things.
so to give a measure of how justified we feel in criticising them we could ask the question: .
what things do the dubs have to stop doing or believing for you to stop criticising them?
I would be far less critical of them if....
they would just recognize and praise the good that other people do. JWs certainly do not have the market cornered on good deeds nor on good intentions.
Many people, churches, religions, organizations, colleges, universities, etc. do much good in the world -- often quietly, without fanfare or publicity.
The list is endless. There are so many people out there trying their best to be good people and to do good in the world they live in. Just be decent enough to recognize them for it, and give them a well-deserved pat on the back.
Why should that be so hard for anyone to do?

do you ever get trouble with your pets?
i have a dog and i want it to be free to roam in this quiet semi urban area with plenty of fields around but i can't because it will search around, find females and enter into private gardens and yards to have sex with them.
of course the owners may not appreciate this and create a scene or ensnare him and hand him over to animal protection as a stray or perhaps poison him.
It's not mutilating to spay or neuter. It's a kindness to the dog (or cat). The mating instinct is not a matter of choice to an animal. Rather, it is a form of temporary insanity that totally controls them. They are helpless to resist it. When it takes over, they will:
roam for miles following the scent of the female in heat,
starving or eating trash, feces, or dead things,
catch mange or other diseases,
get into fights, often to the death,
bite interfering owners of the other animals involved, or animal control officers called to take them away,
get hit by cars, buses, or trains,
get permanently lost or stolen or even killed.
Any puppies produced are usually of mixed breed and unwanted. They have little chance of finding a loving home. The Humane Societies euthanize thousands of purebred dogs every year. The mongrels have even less chance, even though they are often wonderful pets.
In contrast, a neutered dog is content to stay home. Its behavior is stable, predictable, even around other dogs. Their loyalty to their owner is supreme. They respond better to training. They live a long, healthy, happy life.
Which is the more responsible and loving thing to do? Spay or neuter, preferably while they are young.

many of us make this a priority after the holiday's to take off a few extra pounds.. i had a baby in august of 2005 and have a handful (or more) of extra around the mid-section and vowed last new year's that i was going to get fit and take off the poundage.. well, here it is january of 2007 and i think i weigh a bit more than i did last year.
geez, age + baby + sugar addictions = a big problem (lol).
so, i found a new 'way of eating' that blows my mind.
I can second that recommendation. Somersizing works! It's not difficult and you'll feel better after you eat -- no bloating, no more gas, better sleep, and more energy.
No fad, no pills, no hype. Just common sense food combining that other people have used for generations.
Best of all -- It's free and it's easy.

for those who don't know my story (look up past posts, i posted it) here's the cliff's notes.. i was df'd about 10 weeks ago for things other than apostacy.
i plan in being reinstated to keep communication with my family (wife and i were raised in the........tr......tru.........truth) so i am still going to the meetings.. well, for any that don't know my wife had a baby thursday woo-hoo!
anyway, the cong we are in is actually fairly loving and it's quite a shock to me since it's very different from what i have experienced for the last 30+ years.
Family is all that counts. Families may have their differences, but they must always close ranks and bond together when trouble strikes, as it always does sooner or later in every home. No family member has the right to allow any other member to be insulted or treated rudely, or with disrespect. Loyalty to family is supreme, with loyalty between husband and wife being the highest. What kind of a wife allows people to trample on her husband's pride and dignity? She needs a major wake-up call on where her true loyalties need to be. Good luck and God bless. I wish you success in this and in all things. Susan
mine are all addressed and ready to go.
they're just simple ones with a short verse about happiness during the season and signed by me.
nothing extra.
Yes, I've sent them to my JW sister for years. She didn't respond, of course. Then I started adding photos of the children, etc. and a long, newsy, handwritten letter. I even gave her a heads-up in prior letters that she'd want to open the card, to get the pictures.
It worked, apparently, as for two years now she's sent her own cards back to me. Last year's even included a small gift.
That was worth the years of no response.

with interest i find that once again the lds faith is cast as the twin tower of mordor to the watchtower orthanc.
we are not the same my precious.
read these quotes below to see just how different we really are.

Abaddon a list of differences:
I contend that my faith is built on personal searching and the embracing of all knowledge which does not equal brain washing to me. If I leave the faith my family would be disappointed but would still talk to me, I would be visited by members until I requested that my name be removed from the records. There are plenty of similarities but I would suggest that doctrine isn't one of them, the final goal is different and the route to achieve that goal is radically different. My mormon culture is rich and fulfilling in a way that for me English general culture isn't. I hope the JW culture has as much to offer for those who still believe and those who have left have found acceptance and love in other ways.
Thank you, Q, for giving me a good laugh with your earlier joke (yes, I thought it was good!) and for your comments above. Please know that your efforts are appreciated at least by some in here. And don't allow the intentionally rude ones to drive you away. You are needed here.
And, c'mon people! Isn't his "differences" list pretty clear in showing that there are actually many key differences in major doctrinal points between LDS and JW?

Are mormon children allowed to have normal childhoods? can they join the boy scouts? can they date? are they allowed to have 'worldly" friends?--enquiring minds want to know
Yes, Junction Guy, our children have very normal childhoods. Every Ward, without exception, has it's own Boy Scout troop. They do all the great Boy Scout stuff, and are encouraged to become Eagles.
Yes, they can date, after the age of 16. They are taught standards of dating and behavior, but can date non-members. The Church also hosts teen dances and activities where non-members are welcome to attend.
Most of my children's friends were non-members ("worldly" I guess you would say). Now grown, they still have many non-LDS friends, and are still active LDS members themselves.
In reference to the quotes about the pamphlets that speak evil of other religions, sorry but what was quoted doesn't hold even the faintest of candles to the ones put out about us and our supposed beliefs. Not even close.
Nor do we carry picket signs outside other churches like people do to us. Nor do we print flyers trashing their religions and leave them on their car windshields. Nor do we block the sidewalks outside the Temple and the Convention Center shouting obscenities to those LDS who want to enter there.
We don't even have classes or lectures purporting to tell the "real truths" about other church's doctrines.
Yes, we believe we are the most correct religion. Why else would anyone ever join any religion? Would you say, "I know this church really sucks, but I like their coffee hour?" I would hope that anyone who joins any religion would believe it to be true. Otherwise, there's really no point, is there?
If we believe we are correct, then we must also believe others are mistaken, at least a little bit. Unlike the JWs, though, we give all other religions the credit for the good that they do, and for whatever they teach that is right, and that blesses people's lives.
When we teach about the Church, we never make comparisons, but only teach our own doctrines and beliefs. We don't believe there is any need to speak evil of other churches. Too bad not everyone can show respect that way.

i have been researching similar religions (christadelphians, church of god, sdas.
mormons, bible students) and just posted a new section at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/similar.htm.
below are comments from mormons and x mormons that i found on the internet.
Joules asked: Are Mormons even [slightly] discouraged from attending any college other than BYU? I know that mormonism is taught as part of the curriculum at BYU, but I always wondered if they pushed BYU first, and then other colleges as a last resort - such as if moving to Utah would pose a financial burden. Actually, no, they are not even slightly discouraged from attending anywhere else. It's purely a personal choice. My husband got his MBA from a private university owned and operated by another religion. It required passing their own religion courses, of course, which he did. He chose that particular university because at that time it had the highest rated MBA program west of the Mississippi. It was a great choice. All six of our children are either in college now or have already graduated. So far none have attended BYU. If they should decide they want to, that's fine. If they don't, that's fine, too. Does that help? Susan
as a jw i saw in other religions, ritualism, insignificant ceremoniies, unecessary restrictions, erroneous bible interpretations, doctrines and teachings, and hateful conspiracy with governments to kill or imprison or stop individual jws, or the jw movement.
today, i respect what people belive but what i think is wrong is religion in the business of killing people or advocating the killing or harming or infringing on people.
Fisherman, you said:
But jws dont canive to get people locked up or killed and they dont attack other people and injure them or kill them as other religions do to jws.
What religions kill JWs?
