  144000 The numbers don't add up

  in 1935 there were 63,146 who attended the memorial and 52,465 partook.

  (proclaimers book page 717).

  according to the bible teach book on page 78, it says, “since the days of the apostles, god has been selecting faithful christians in order to complete the number 144,000”.

  In 1993 their were only about 8,000 that claimed to be of the Anointed with the heavenly hope. Which I believe was a stagnant figure lasting some 30 or so years ? that means in about the year 1960 -1993 that figure of 8000 Anointed remained unchanged .?

  So what ? none of the aged Anointed died within those 30 years ? Didn`t the G.B. always say that the numbers would be decreasing as the day drew near ?

  What are the facts now ? Instead of the numbers decreasing they are actually increasing to the point where we currently don`t have just 8000 Anointed we actually have over 18000 claiming to be Anointed with the heavenly hope.

  If greater than 10,000 are wrongly claiming to be of the Anointed then it doesn`t say much for the Bible education they are getting at Kingdom Halls or by the Elders does it.

  The glass prison

  a term i came to learn about after waking up as i'm sure many of us here did.

  i was thinking of how this condition is similar to the proverbial glass prison, how jw are unknowingly confined by the walls of their belief while observing life around them but are truly captives to a concept as ray put it.. .

  What a good point you make Nf, regarding Cognitive dissonance and their glass prison .

  I can truly relate to that.

  However its funny how they are an Old Testament religion that focuses on that GOD and only quote Jesus when it suits them .

  As I like to point out, nowhere in the New Testament are Christians told to be witnesses of Jehovah whereas about 20 times in the NT they are told to be witnesses of Jesus Christ .

  Which they are not .

  When I was a kid ,i`m an ozzie, I played cowboys and indians with my friends and i had toy guns and toy rifles and even bow and arrows from an early age for many years shooting and killing make believe bad guys and indians .

  I outgrew this and never contemplated killing anyone in real life bad guy`s or not.

  I find it hard to comprehend what`s happening in America with all these mass shootings at schools ending the lives of young students so needlessly.

  Isn`t that a telling statement ?

  Its not a love for Jehovah God that they want to rejoin Jehovah`s Witnesses .

  Its because they love their family more than Jehovah God and want to associate with them again and this is the only way they can do it.

  Whereas the Jehovah`s Witness position is to use emotional blackmail to get these ones to rejoin the J.W. religion.

  These ones that come back are not stupid they know they have been manipulated and they will never be loyal to the religion of Jehovah`s Witnesses .

  And if the WTB&TS thinks otherwise ? They are the stupid ones .

  Public Talk invitations ....Next to .Zero Attendees

  from my conversion at the end of 1959 to my leaving the j.w`s about early 1993 i remember especially in the first 20 -30 years or so giving out invitations to public talks that were to be given at our local k.h.

  every time i went out in the service witnessing from door to door week in week out i would leave these tracts at not at homes or whoever would accept them .. and in my personal experience i cannot recall more than five worldly / non j.w.

  people , if that , who came to a public talk as a result of the invitations given at the doors in our witnessing work in the 33 years of my being an active jehovah`s witness .. and none of them ever became a jehovah`s witness .. was it just me ?

  if a decades-long apostate decides that they should marry a semi-active jw, what odds would you put on the viability of the marriage?

  if not viable, how long before the shit would hit the fan?

  100 to 1 against the marriage lasting .

  And as for however long it lasted it would be a period of hell.

  Semi actives can go back and forth for years never making a decision and are" like a cork in the ocean being tossed this way and that"

  And are quite happy to let others they think have authority to make decisions for them .

  Consequences for having a non religious wedding ceraminy?

  hey i was wondering if maybe someone who is an ex elder or who knows a lot about these things could help me.

  my dad is an elder but i need to be cautious with questions i ask.

  now that i’ve been woken up from my brainwashed love of this corrupt corporation and from my belief in the bible, and my fiancé is starting to wake up as well, i really don’t want to have the sexist, overused, impersonal talk outline used for my wedding ceremony by some elder who is trying to show off his talk giving skills.

  If you are both considered Jehovah`s witnesses in good standing and decide to get married outside of a Kingdom Hall and use a Celebrant or Civil servant to conduct the ceremony then you are inviting gossip ,slander ,talk as to why you would do such a thing .

  You must be hiding some sin that you are guilty of. You will be marked by the majority in the K.H. and you will be questioned by the B.O.E. as to why you took such a step .

  You won`t get off scot free if you go down this path.

  You do make some good points Old Navy but obviously not all people who play these games and watch these movies act out with them otherwise we would all really be up shit creek.

  From what I have read this kid used the weapons that his father had legally obtained and no doubt his father never expected his kid to do something like this .

  America to this day still seems to have the culture of the "Old Wild West Days" carry a gun and shoot to kill ,ask questions later and be prepared to face whatever consequences arise.

  Sadly their just does not seem to be an easy solution to this problem of school shootings and I`m at a loss on how they are ever going to solve it.

  And the way things stand their are going to be a lot more mass shootings of school children before this years end .
