  I have friends and acquaintances now and have never divulged that I was once a card carrying J.W..

  I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit I was so stupid ,naive to have spent so much of my life convincing my then GF who became my wife and then bringing up two children into this cult.

  If I was asked point blank about it I would admit to it but so apologetically.

  in california, in and out burger, democrats were being told not to support the chain because they donated to republicans.. will politics affect your spending habits?.

  In a word NO.

  And neither are my views of Corporations and Businesses or Actors or their views have any affect or even effect on anything I buy or watch on screen either cinema or TV.

  Corporations and Businesses are out to make money ......to earn a living.....O.K. and profits . and keep shareholders happy .

  Actors are just playing a part and do not subscribe to the role they are playing. And their personal views on any given subject is just that their personal views .

  They are just being paid for the job at hand.

  because I like or support a certain actor in a particular Movie does not in any way mean I support his/her political or religious views in any way.

  The same is with singers ,because I like certain singers does not mean I agree with their personal political or religious views

  I think its the height of stupidity to boycott this that or the other because you don`t agree with some issue you don`t agree with.

  If what you don`t agree with was analysed to the Nth degree ,you would probably be found to be a hypocrite.

  How many JW´s spend their whole lives being JW´s?

  ever since i became an exjw activist... i have wondered, how many people can i hope to reach?.

  what are the odds that my parents and loved ones will live out the remainder of their lives as jehovah´s witnesses?.

  is there a way to calculate the odds that any jw will remain a jw for the rest of their lives?.

  I would venture to say born ins who have parents and other relatives who are J.W.`s and that makes it so much harder to break from the mould as their is too much to lose ,family and life long friends that you have only known since birth.

  The emotional bond can be so hard to break free from regardless of the knowledge one might have gained that something is not what it seems ,it just doesn`t add up ,or doubts that appear.

  It could be overwhelming for many people to face that and bite the bullet.

  They would just bide their time and wait and see ,wait and see , wait and see .......until they die.

  What was the EXACT exJW website you first visited and why EXACTLY did you visit it?

  i had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.

  i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.

  however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?

  It has to have been about 14 years ago now when i first came across an ex J.W. site and I `m not sure whether it was free minds or Shaun`s site which came first .

  However they were both excellent in the fact that they eventually led me here .

  And I was paranoid when I first looked up these sites not knowing what to expect ,a lightning bolt out of the blue ,or even an attack of Demonic nightmares .

  My stress levels really went up for God knows how long ,but their were small tidbits of information I just could not ignore.

  So i kept going back ,I thank Shaun `s ex JW site and Free minds for freeing me of being a" Captives Of A Concept."

  And Kudos to Ray Franz and Don Cameron for that phrase .

  Why did I visit it ?

  Curiosity !

  A number of doubts had crept in over the years and some personal problems had evolved over the years that I believed were not handled scriptually and when I challenged the Elders involved and threatened to name them to both the Australian Bethel as well as contacting Brooklyn Bethel ,they backed down completely and placated to my concerns.

  I then thought ,I had power over the Elders that involved two congregations , this can`t be a religion that is governed by Holy Spirit ,something is not right here.

  And it was a few years later that I contacted ex J.W.`s

  wt on education..

  i have just watched the glass smashing on the wt video on education.. please consider these experiences from the opposite side of that "coin".. i have heard young ones say out-loud on the mike in the kh that "jehovah is my special friend.."these ones who were at the top of the wt 'tree' pioneering, putting in the hours etc but, it followed that soon saying that pivotal statement they dropped their pioneering, faded, picked up the girl/boyfriend and suffered being dfd.. so where did their wt "education" leave them?

  it left them as young adults naive to the world, unskilled, with no qualification to offer any employer and having to replace their former family/associates/friends with new ones.. ( dont get me going on shunning) in some cases with little success as we have read here where they moon about for months or longer unable to emotionally heal after the leaving or df'ing and also others with such a turn around they would never have believed it possible... there was a wt that related how a brother (!

  ) followed an interest in history and left the truth.

  I think that your questions would just fly right over the heads of current J.W.`s with the limited education their allowed to receive .

  They would have no comprehension on how to make a sensible answer because of not knowing what the questions actually mean.

  someone you looked up to some who did something amazing?.

  i live in new zealand and 1 of mine is sir edmound hillary,a great yet humble man.. he and tenzing norgay were the 1st to reach the top of mt everest.it went to the grave with both of them who put there foot on top 1st,neather of them reviled that.. he did alot for the sherpa's of napal making sure they were payed well for their work as well as setting up schools there.. he came to my school and gave a speech then walked around the play ground talking to us children,his phone number was in the phone book and he would talk to anyone that rang him partially children doing a project on everest.. the british tryed to say that mallory and irvine may have made it to the top of everest years before,hillarys reply.....they may have but i made it down again.. karter..

  I also have to agree about Simon/Ang especially and his team , etc for keeping this site going for so long that has helped an untold number of people over the years and continues to do so.

  Kudos to all you administrators and everybody else that contributes one way or another on this site.
