Apparently there is one born every minute , and I must have been one of them because I became a JW in 1960.

And it took me another 18 years after `75 to see the light and wake up.

I have committed myself to send Xmas cards this year to those addresses I have from a previous couple of years ago.

Nobody needs to feel obligated to send one back if they don`t want too.

I have misplaced a couple of cards but still have the envelopes they came in ,but with no indication who sent them.

One was from Berlin Germany and the other was from Milwaukee USA.

If anybody else wants to chime in your very welcome.

,Just pm me with your user name and address.

Maybe your having a seniors moment my friend LOL ,I have a Xmas , no sorry Happy Holidays card from you in 2019.and I think I sent you a pm on the 11/12/19 according to the card I have in front of me.

Blondie told me then she is taking a hiatus,and I`m thinking of sending a Xmas card to all that responded to me back then.

King Richard the movie

i thought this needed to be said here.. ok ,i watched this movie today and really enjoyed it .it focuses on richard and venus rise to fame mainly and is not backward in showing richard as a bit of an egotistical asshole who pushes and drives his kids to what they became.many times you got the feeling it was all about richard doing it for himself.

the girls played a good part and will smith does a fine job as richard.. i think that only jw`s and ex-jw`s would pick up from the movie that they were jehovah`s witnesses as it was really only alluded too in a couple of scenes.. one where richard gives a mealtime prayer and mentions the name jehovah ( the only time it is mentioned in the movie ) and when a coach is berating him for taking the girls away from practice to go to" church" as he called it and mentioned the" hall" which would go over most peoples head.. if only 50% of this movie was fact it is well worth watching,i recommend it..

there is this new movie out called "king richard" staring will smith playing serena and venus williams father.

i don't know much about this, but i heard that they were raised by jw parents.

how does that factor into the movie and their growing up aspiring tennis stars?.

New World Translation is not much different other translations

key scripture 2 timothy 3:16 should have been translated as “every scripture inspired of god is also profitable for teaching” like many other serious translations (such as american standard version ; douay-rheims bible etc) as it is what the greek text says.. this is in harmony with the contents of bible and also with the writer paul himself who knew after his departure ‘even from his own number men will arise and distort the truth.’ (acts 20:29-30) for example, verses such as romans 7:19 is such distortion.

such verses cannot originate from real paul who was “holy, righteous and blameless.” (1 thessalonians 2:10) hence paul had the freeness of speech to tell others to be “blameless” like him (1 thessalonians 5:19-23; ephesians 5:24) there are many things in the scriptures which are not inspired such as words of satan, words of job’s wife and his false friends, words of judas, lot’s daughters …etc.

apostle peter never disowned jesus because if he had done so, his contemporaries would have interrupted him when he rebuked jews, saying: “you disowned the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released to you.“ (acts 3:14) his listeners would have asked him “what right do you have to reprove us for ‘disowning jesus” when you yourself have done it first?” all such verses or accounts were later adoptions.

,What I have experienced in the Christian religious faith is that people tend to cherry pick what scriptures they want to believe as inspired by God and reject other scriptures they don`t agree with as not being inspired by God.

You seem to belong to one of those people , am I right ?

How have you determined what scriptures are inspired of God in the Bible and those that are not ?

Do you not believe the whole "Bible" regardless of how many books are in it , is the word of God ?

Aren`t you in fact translating what you believe is the Bible , by cherry picking scriptures what is Gods word and what is not ?

What gets me is why do the JW`s religion accept what basically is a Catholic Bible in the first place,or even did what the CJCLDS did and add their own book?

Or maybe that was too much for them to do.
