  You're right, Mr. Moe, there's no way to prove spousal rape. After all, you have to have two or more witnesses, and how can you possibly do that? That's why they still have that stupid rule. They know it actually protects wife-beaters and child molesters. And is designed to keep women and children feeling totally defenseless.

  Bridgette, I understand what you mean. Once that happens to you, ESPECIALLY by your husband....someone who's supposed to honor, cherish, and treat you as his own flesh, it's seared into your brain forever. And kind, gentle, loving treatment, which is YOUR RIGHT, seems strange. When you are treated with respect and real love, you find yourself thinking absurd thoughts.

  Lisa and dungbeetle, I'm going to send this article also. To as many shelters in the Chicago area I can find. (Thanks, Anne, for your kind words.)

  Really would like to hear Fred's and You Know's comments on this. Then again, maybe not!

  Bridgette, everything you said is so right on the mark! Andi, so many things you said are true. The pattern is so hard to break. You're already in a cult, and dependant on "men" to tell you what to do, then you have a husband at home that you're told to be in subjection to. He has to practically kill you to even be "considered" for dfshipping.
  Mr. Moe, it is sick! I remember having to check with my husband before the meetings because he had to approve of what I wore. And I even had certain times I could go to the grocery store. He would check the mileage on the odometer when I left and when I got home.

  One thing that hasn't been mentioned, and I don't know if I'm the only one who experienced this, is spousal rape. I never even believed it could happen until it happened to me. I tried to bring this up to the brothers at our little meeting. It was brushed off. I was already scared, embarrassed (today that seems so ignorant-as if I did something wrong!)and made to feel like one of the reasons he beat me was because I didn't give him his "due". Which he decided he wanted after hitting me a few times.

  Today I get disgusted even thinking I put up with it for even one day. I feel sick when I remember what he put my kids and me through. And all with the blessings of Brother Sanders and Brother Thomas. Thanks, Mr. Moe, for posting this article. Looks like things have not changed at all. Sickening.....

  This infuriates me!![>:(]

  And it's one of the main reasons I left the "so-called" truth! My jw husband became very abusive to me and my children shortly after we were married. Right before I was to be baptized, he slammed my head into the wall of our apartment. I was terrified, had no money, no family to go to. So, I called the brothers. They arranged a meeting with both of us. I thought I was going to get some help. Right!!

  They proceeded to ask him why HE was under so much stress. Why HE felt he needed to do this. Why HE felt so angry. He explained how HE was so overworked (of course my job of raising the kids and taking care of the home was meaningless and so, so EASY!), that the kids made too much noise. They were 4, 5 and 6. Kids ARE noisy! That's what they DO!

  That he wasn't making enough money. (no college) As I sat there in stunned silence, I was read the scripture that says to be in subjection to your husband and told I should be more "helpful" in our marriage.

  When the brothers left I was even more terrified. With good reason. For "calling the brothers", and putting our "business" out for all the witnesses to know, he fractured my nose. It bled for 4 hours. Then he beat the kids, because he knew I couldn't fight him.

  Well, excuse my language, but I said to myself, "Fuck THAT! Screw those brothers! Forget the baptism! They can ALL kiss my ass goodbye!"

  I filed for divorce the very next day.

  Emergency !!!! Can Any One Help?

  this plea for help goes out to anyone in the st louis mo area.. okay this is the situation, my father and sister are both disfellowshipped and have been sharing an apt.

  since my mom and dad have been separated.. my dad was being kind to my sister who was in need after her divorce.. she was the typical jw just, high school education then depending on a man.

  dad agreed to let her live rent free till jan when she graduates from dental school.

  Ranchette, my father lives in a suburb of St. Louis. Kirkwood. Let me talk to him and see if he needs anyone. He's an ex-Marine and has his condo cleaned every week. I don't know who he has doing it now, but I can ask. He hates jws and might be glad to help your sister out. He is really a sweet guy. Lives alone. I'll give it a try.

  I know she'd probably rather live with someone her age, but if you want, I can try.

  well, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.

  i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.

  i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.

  You know, I really don't have any idea why all these people are naked in the street. The site I got it from had no caption, other than "5000 Naked People Can't All Be Wrong."
