as a witness what occupation did/do you hold?.

i was speaking with a friend of mine that is a former witness and we remarked about how many of us have worked in some sort of janitorial work.

After my divorce, I went back to school, taking Fashion Merchandising. But, with 3 babies at home, and no family, had to quit after 2 years. Got a job as an aide to a therapist at Whitten Center, in Clinton, SC. A facilty for mentally disabled persons. I got too attached to the people there. Especially the children. Would go home crying every day.
Decided to focus on my sewing skills. Worked doing alterations in a nice boutique. Also working on the side doing weddings, prom dresses, and making clothes for all the brothers and sisters at the KH.

Then worked in a factory making thousands of T-shirts for a shop in Myrtle Beach. Hated it. Worked in another clothing store for a few years. Started promoting fashion shows for different stores, sorority groups, clubs. Then started designing and making clothes for the shows. Unfortunately, there's only so much you can do in SC when it comes to fashion.

Moved to Chicago. Started making stage costumes for a local band. Lots of "goth" clothing. I actually made the long coat Pinhead wears in Hellraiser for a member of a band. Wasn't making enough money. Started in sales at Montgomery Ward. Worked there for six and a half years. Laid off in March of this year, when they slammed the door. Unemployment right now. Applied and accepted at Northwestern. So, I'm starting over. Do not want retail or sales jobs ever again.

Trying to figure out what will make me happy.

Education idiot!

Ridiculous trips to the 'back room'

the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.

here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.

though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.

tdogg, I still love Vice reruns on TNN. The music, the music! I still love to speed down Lake Shore Drive, with all the windows wide open, looking at the Chicago skyline, and blasting "Something In the Air Tonight". Ah, those were the days, when crime was simple! And Crockett never got dirty! Tubbs never broke a sweat, even in a 3 pc.

i live in the midwest.

i am not a jw, but am very much in love with a wonderful woman who is.. occupation: i work in electronics - retail.

Hi Doug, I'm April. I live in the midwest too. Chicago. Born in Maine, grew up in South Carolina. I used to be in sales. Montgomery Ward. Six years. They kicked the bucket and left everyone hanging.

I have two boys living at home, Gabriel (12)and Dominic (9), a cat, Sapphire. Single (divorced right now), but have met someone on the net and am getting pretty serious.

I love movies, reading (about 900 books now in my collection). I design and sew clothes. I always wear black (no wasting time matching outfits or shoes)
I'm looking at my lay-off as a good thing. Going back to college winter quarter, Northwestern. Haven't decided what to major in.

I love all types of music, from The Doors to Aerosmith to Enigma to Paul Hardcastle to Outkast.

Guess that's enough for now....

I remember my grandmother (a lifetime dub)always used to read "Tales From the Crypt" comic books. She had the most wonderful collection. All from the 60's. I used to love to sit with her and read them. She kept them in such good condition. Somehow, my mom got it into her mind that this was a bad thing. Bringing demons into the house. She called a meeting with the brothers. They came to the house, read my poor grandmother the riot act. Told her she had to get rid of them.

When they left, my mom threw them in a pile and burned them. It was the first time I saw my grandmother cry.

A week ago, I was in a local comic book store, looking for something for my sons. I noticed the guy had "Tales" comics. We started talking, and I told him 'part' of the story. What he told me made me want to choke! A woman had just come into his store a few days prior. With a set of "Tales" comics. He paid her $300,000. She bought a new home.[>:(]

Thank you so much, Bill. I posted the radio link on another board and there is so much feedback from it. I'm also sending it to my niece, who has decided she wants to "return" to the "truth".

just curious...does anyone know if there are any famous jw's?

i have heard about the jackson family (michael, janet, etc.

) and prince, however, i have been unable to find any official web site information that confirms their beliefs.

Leslie Uggums used to be. I remember when my mom found out she got dfs, she refused to watch her on TV. Would change the channel everytime she came on.
