ex-jw's are a bunch of $&^%& style posters, all seam to have one thing in common.. they never stick around for a proper debate.. just fire away some accusations, and leave.. gets on my nerves.. why wont witnesses stay and make their point against reasoned arguments?.

Interesting subject...
I've found it's not only physical looks (whether man or woman) that is always the factor for attraction, but also how they carry themselves, talk, express creativity, have a sense of humor, have a unique outlook on life.
Have you ever seen a person, who although looks-wise didnt flick your bic, but people flocked to them? I certainly think this is a type of 'aura' a person gives off. If they are positive, kind and warm, they will attract people like flies to honey.
Look at Mona Lisa. She has been called one of the most beautiful women. People will even say 'well she's no Mona Lisa.' I hope not!!! If there was a woman looking like Mona Lisa today, she'd be washing windows with a newspaper at the corner highway.
I do agree, however, that the idea of 'true beauty' has gotten very watered down. Any person off the street with a little lip injection, fake boobs and some makeup is touted on the cover of People magazine as Beautiful. There has to be more. Of course this is just my opinion, but I find celebrities attractive moreso when I see how they try to help others. Susan Sarandon has always been politically active, though I dont always agree with her stances. She seems to exude life and happiness. So do many others that alot of people would consider 'middle aged', but personally, I think they are the best.

Another thing is while ISP brings up a good point, I do not think you are born being gay. It is a choice, even though it may be a choice to act on a feeling that you inherently felt since youth.
Like Rosie O'Donnell stated,"It wasnt a case of coming out. I had sex with women, sex with men. I enjoyed both experiences. It was a case of wearing two different coats and seeing which one 'fit' better. I thought women fit better."
So her comment clearly shows not how she was born gay, but how she chose it. She was neutral about either one... actually enjoyed both sides but 'chose' women.

I watched that show you are talking about. I could tell it was protrayed in a certain light. You have to understand, you are watching a show that was written, produced and directed by a certain group with an agenda.
You are talking about the Matthew Shephard case. I noticed that while this was a horrible tragedy, they portray many in the town as ignorant, hicks. The ones pro-gay are spoken to with nice music in the background...in front of a college (as if to say they are educated), nice lighting.
The ones against homosexuality are interviewed in dingy areas, garages, run down homes, the music is dark and scary....
You have to keep your mind open and not be led by the director's view. I personally like to watch things that are 'neutral'. Just the facts and thats it. I like making up my own mind and not having a pro-agenda group sway me with sneaky tactics.
Again, that case was horrendous. But it paints over the homosexual lifestyle as innocent, which I think is not always the case. I think everyone should be able to have their own beliefs without fear of being harrassed, either for or against an issue.

BTW, while I dont feel it is our job to judge, we can make informed asessments in life. I feel homosexuality ecompasses more than just same sex partners. There are other aspects which includes morality, life style, emotional/physical/mental health issues.....

Ashi, you and D8TA made some great points. I was never disfellowshipped, nor was I baptized yet I am shunned by everyone that is a Witness. It used to hurt..but I accept it now. I never spoke out against jw's or the belief system, but they figured I wasnt a witness, so I wasnt worth the time to talk to. One sister even said about me," she's over 18 and not baptized, so you better give up on her. All hope is lost." Doesnt sound like something Jesus would say does it?
I feel for your family and wife, Ashi. My family still talks to me, but my sister has told me it is only because I was never baptized, and if I had been, she would not talk to me. I thank God I didnt get baptized, because of this. She also said I could not visit my nephews or neices in my own home. God, I wouldnt do anything wrong with them...maybe teach them some manners, LOL.
