  Rules on movies tv and video games

  i hated the rules that are set by jws.. like video games they say all the time ''we are not saying give up all video games''etc.but from all they list as a game you cant play you might as well stop playing.. when it comes to movies i get really mad im a big fan of stephen king's it but oh no cant see that.but i hear later that some other jws talk about how good the movie was and they saw it.. im so done.

  As much as JWs claim not to be part of the world, they are. There's no difference between them and the rest of the world. They claim that they don't do anything wordly, but the reality is that in that organization you find the same thing that you find outside, good people and bad people.

  That means that every time you want to find out "What do Jehovahs Witnesses do about..." whatever, please keep that in mind. They are pretend set apart from the world, but they aren't. The answer is always the same that the rest of the world does.

  Living with non belivers

  my question is can you as a jw live on same premises as a non jw.... in split house/property with no sexual relations or anything involved... i am being forced to move due to a "sister" wanting to go back to her god and has made the point of saying she cannot have a male around.

  even though the property itself is split with seperate access for both parts of the house.. she has put a blanket rule out saying the whole property itself... doesnt make sense to me nor to any of the elders i have spoken to regarding the matter.. yes i called them as i know next to nothing about the faith.. .

  i find it strange that two elders urge a non jw to seek justice from fair trading and rental tribunal as they themselves do not belive the actions of the "sister" in question or her family to be correct or right... .

  First, that sister is full of shit. There's no JW anything that forces her to not have a male roommate. Second, she's full of shit again because she's using the JW crap as an excuse to be a perfect bitch. If at all, she's the one that should leave, not you. She's changing the terms of the living arrangement, not you, so she's the one that should leave.

  Sue her ass. That's sex discrimination.

  i bring this up because like me i sure many of the men who was kids in the wt cult got their first taste of what a nude women looked like.

  it was the adolescent male sex education for most of us.

  one friend i had who's dad was a elder told me they always had playboys in his house because his dad subscribed to them.

  You are kidding, right? I can tell that you didn't grow up as a woman, a gay man, or a person with a disability in that organization. It is an oppressive, controlling organization.

  You suffered the effects of a controlling groups, like everybody else in that organization, but last time I checked, the entire structure is based on male dominance. Look at the place where they expect other people (who are not heterosexual males) to be in that structure.

  Regarding sexual repression, I agree that the WT has no clue about a whole lot of things, and that includes healthy, basic human sexuality. It is made of a bunch of heterosexual (or perceived to be) men with no advanced education and no interest in learning anything new, nor in innovation of any kind. They do not know anything about basic human sexuality, they know nothing about managing their own organization, they are obsessed with controlling the lives of their followers, and some of their claims and teachings are just downright stupid.

  And since they make people's life decisions their business, of course they are going to cause harm on people in every aspect, since they want to control every aspect of people's lives.

  They expect their followers to die before believing anything other than the crap that they teach. What can you expect from that mentality? Of course they are twisted with information about human sexuality.

  Astro-theology and dates concerning Jesus the moon god?

  i have done a lot of research over the years in to jesus and how he related to other older gods and astro-theology.

  many who have looked in to this before me have stated that jesus is a retelling of a son god.

  they talk about horus and quote scriptures where jesus is alluded to being the sun of god as much as the son of god.

  I can not find any other reasons that make sense as to why Jesus was killed at 33 and dead for three days in the spring.
  

  It could also be that that's when people had it with him, and nothing more.

  we attended an orchestral concert last night.

  before the show there was have a drink mingle thing and my dear wife met some sisters who she sees so many times a week and got into a round x round conversation on......fs arrangements.. no commentary on the music to come, the beautiful venue or the opportunity to take in such a concert.

  Never thought of it that way, but to me the entire event compared to the way things actually happened... I think that those involved would be so surprised about what their story have become today.

  What can the leadership at Watchtower do to turn things around?

  let's play devils advocate here.. put yourself in the governing body's shoes.

  they are well aware of all the issues they are facing.

  they know their numbers (they 'do the math' as they say in the us).

  Put yourself in the Governing Body's shoes. They are well aware of all the issues they are facing. They know their numbers (They 'do the math' as they say in the US). They MUST do something (AND SOON) to end all the bad press and the consequential loss in membership.

  So what steps do the leadership need to take in order to turn things around before it's too late?.

  In another post I attacked what I believe are the worst operational things in that organization. I'm not going to repeat that post, but here are a few things I believe that are doing wrong now:

  • Trying to make a lot of money out of people that they themselves discourage from making money
  • They are obsessed with controlling the lives of their followers
  • They have no clue about anything related to early childhood education, child psychology, not a clue. Same thing for anything and anyone who reflects the diversity in this world
  • This is not only the WT, but they could use at least an introductory course in diversity and inclusion (baffles me that they are in NYC and still behave the way they do)
  • They have under-educated, unskilled, brainwashed people giving advice to people on important life events and decisions, hence, people are receiving horrible advice
  • They don't believe in referring to professional mental health when clearly some people need it
  • They are horrible at managing technology; they do not believe in innovation, and when they do, their controlling ways trump innovation
  • They are finally downsizing in the printed word now, because they have been bleeding money out of using a medium that over a century ago worked, but doesn't anymore
  • They cannot even start understanding the concepts of organizational development, change management, organizational psychology, those concepts are completely foreign to them. They insist in managing their organization the way they did in the 19th century
  • Their ridiculous pompous grandiosity about what they do and how they do things, making assess of themselves, makes them look just pathetic and unappealing to people
  • I didn't even mentioned how they divide families and take so many other actions and take no responsibility for ruining some people's lives

  That's just the basics. If they can change a good 80% of that, they could be more successful.

  I cry during the National Anthem now

  after being a jw for 25 years and finding every weasel way to 'maintain christian neutrality', i now find myself in a completely 'new light'.. i quit abruptly, four years ago and have lived a jw free life with the exception of my born-in wife.when i see the ceremony of the national anthem, it not only reaffirms the absolute beauty of personal freedom, but it also allows me to see that most people are good and loyal to one another.

  i treasure my life and have become a patriot.

  now i feel ashamed that i was a government/authority rejecting, isolationist that benefited from living in the greatest country in the world.

  I don't cry but I like standing up during the anthem. Doing that is in fact, a great feeling. To me is more about reclaiming my choice and my sense of belonging in the world.
