For as long as Americans keep themselves in denial about their role in the illegal immigration situation, it's going to remain messed up. Illegal people don't come here to sell drugs. Crack head Americans want to consume drugs. Criminals don't come here to commit crimes. Criminal Americans run to other countries to evade the law. Get the hang of it?

Should I talk to elders?
by Chook inthe whole world is rigged, whether its religious tribunals or local police enforcement, those who are paid by god or government are the enforcers .
should you talk to elders... well imagine that brooklyn had ordered these men to df anyone who says anything against the slave.
do you stand a chance , religious zealots are the most ruthless throughout history, look into it , it's scary to think we believed a magazine that we thought came from god .

If you ask me, what I found harder was forgiving myself for allowing all that nonsense in my life.

Evolution vs Creation.
by The Rebel inlooking at the board, i see so many long threads on " evoultion vs creation " ect, ect.. therefore if " your" qualifications are only those of " an" uneducated j.w, may i ask one question?.
q) what makes you feel you are now qualified to comment with absolute ,authority on any discussion?.
i ask the above question because for most of us " ex-witnesses " logic is still words written in the pages of an awake" magazine.

I ask the above question because for most of us " ex-witnesses " logic is still words written in the pages of an awake" magazine. So whilst FACTS, and images are great, the vehicle that will remove cognitively baffled minds should eventually be from " threads" or "posters," who can proove their credibility.
This is a forum open to everyone who signs up for it and abides the forum rules. Considering what this is, that means that there are a few realities that should be considered:
- Not everybody is in the same place emotionally, educationally, physically, or morally. People share based on what their perception of reality is. Expecting people to respond and post everything they say according one person's perception of how things should be is an exercise in futility.
- If I believe one or another thing, I am sure I'll have my reasons, not all scientific, not all based on the bible, not all based on emotion. That's just how life is.
- Some people are in different "stages" (for lack of a better word) of their process; some people are still questioning things, some people's believes have never been challenged before, and some people just hate to be proven wrong (that's pretty much every other American I know).
- When I share something, I always have a reason why for everything I state. Some people don't and that's perfectly fine with me. If another person chooses to believe otherwise, who am I to attack them. The opposite is true too. I do listen and read, but if I disagree I just disagree and explain why. To me that's the end of it.
The argument of somebody acting as if they are some kind of absolute authority in any matter can be used in any direction, after all, it is expected that people post what they believe and are convinced is their reality.

This religion has a chance of survival
by Socrateswannabe inthe jws could survive as an organization due to one vital human need: recognition.
for decades this religion glorified the older ones and really didn't do much for the younger folks, hence the younger people left in droves.
if you're middle-aged or older, what was the average age of the elders in your congregation or your circuit overseer, as you were growing up?
-
scratchme1010
...if young people are recognized and put in charge, they will become and remain engaged in this organization. And they will stay engaged long as they continue to be recognized and empowered. The GB may have solved a dilemma that has dogged them for decades--how to keep the young ones from straying or fading. They may very well have stuck their finger into the dike.
That's making the assumption that young people want/need the attention given by the JWs. Also, that's based on the premise that children, the younger, younger ones, are properly treated. The root of how rotten that organization is lies in the way they mistreat CHILDREN, not how they entice teenagers or young adults. Children mean nothing to that organization.

These people only help their own . Not in my wildest imagination could I see Christ turning away people in need.
And on top of that they claim that they don't discriminate. Go figure.

Evolution Gap - Where's the Fur?
by shadow inevolution paints human ancestors covered with fur.
fur has several benefits as stated by britannica "the pelts of fur-bearing animals are called true furs when they consist of two elements: a dense undercoat, called ground hair, and longer hairs, extending beyond that layer, called guard hair.
the principal function of ground hair is to maintain the animal’s body temperature; that of guard hair is to protect the underlying fur and skin and to shed rain or snow.".

Where's our fur?
That's private. I don't show that to people.

Juan Gabriel died.
by ILoveTTATT2 infor the world, michael jackson's death was the death of an insanely well known person.. in latin america, juan gabriel was like our michael jackson, he was that well known.. generations of people all over latin america knew his songs.
you heard his songs when you broke up with someone and went to the bar, you heard his songs in karaoke, you heard his songs every saturday when your grandma played music loudly and she only had the one cassette and it was his.... i hadn't cried for the death of an artist before, but today i did.. there are sooo many memories, both good and bad, in mine and hundreds of millions of people, in which he was a part.. mexico and all of latin america is in pain right now.. may he rest in peace..

Actually, I was about to post that he, UNLIKE MICHAEL JACKSON, created quite a few foundations, shelters and charities exclusively for children, one of them I actually visited in Ciudad Juarez. Furthermore, for some he just funded them and never even saw the children. He was never in any child abuse related scandal.
All that nonsense about him is the typical Latin homophobia, trying to equate gay people with pedophiles.

WT Study - 28th Aug 2016 - “Do Not Let the Faults of Others Stumble You”
by Nicholaus Kopernicus inin paragraph 2 of this study, the gbojw evidences once again that they are sticking to the absurd 1914 doctrine – “when the last days of the present system began...”.
i noted that as 2014 approached, the gbojw became somewhat reticent about making reference to revelation 12:12 – the “short period of time” scripture.
so this study is the first one in a long time in which both the 1914 doctrine and revelation 12:12 are mentioned in the same study.

Did you ever feel like this?
by Mandrake ini'm thinking in emigrating... i feel like i'm stuck here in chile, and going likely to canada (i have my aunt and cousins there, full citizens) is like a real option by now.... i feel like i'm stuck and that in a best scenario i will be starting at the bottom of the pit, with about 75.000 (usd) in university debt (from 3 different sources) that won't go away easy, broken family, unstable relations with my mother, i think that i've almost got over the jw issue, but the consequences on my life being a born in are severe.... this saturday will be my second appointment with the therapist, i'm trying to figure out how to put things in order by now, my due date is december, to make any decisions... i finished almost to 5th year of dentistry, roughly 2 years remained but couldn't handle the family struggle, suicide attempts, getting out the wt, 4 house moves in 3 years, my father not paying a nickel for the university... i supported my mother to my own detriment, she's coming out of borderline personality disorder and i think she's a lot better but im tired... .
...as i'm "almost" a dentist i work from time to time with some patients (friends, ex-univsity patients), i've done a lot of crowns, surgeries, fillings etc to earn some money at my brother in-law clinic)... but i got kicked out of university for failing to complete some clinical requirements because of lack of patients in the previous courses, i just hadn't the force to try harder... studying was clearly not a priority by then, and as i used to be a good student just didn't know all the rules about failing courses... well that is, i just wanted to vent a little....

My only advice is, remember, it's just geography. As the saying goes "wherever you go, there you are!". Self care doesn't stop by moving. New beginnings are good, but issue do remain or get worse when left unattended.

So just wondering if anyone has heard the same thing? Thanks
I have heard that they are trying to encourage people to come back, but as always, they never take a full stand on it. It's all around gossip and whispers.
The JWs who knew me as a JW I'm sure know better than daring attempting to even say anything to me. They know very well what their place is.
