I think the Watchtower Corporation is in some serious doo doo...
The only thing I disagree in your post. The WT is not in serious doo doo; they are doo doo.
think about this new mode(cart work) of keeping the rank & file busy with theocratic/self indoctrinating pursuits instead of door to door work which might put them in more financial jeopardy if one of their congregation's free roaming pedophiles uses this as an opportunity to molest an interested person at the doors.
i think the watchtower corporation is in some serious doo doo and wants to limit their legal liability as much as fucking possible, if they still have half a brain that is and not suffering from some severe form of dementia(which you never know being that they are suffering from tremendous brain shrinkage being that they are leaders in a fundamentalist mind control cult which prays upon fear and ignorance and most likely missing a lot of cards in their deck if you know what i mean).. i'm thinking if these guys are only half braindead from the bull shit they sign off on to be printed in their publications they must be able to see the tremendous damage financially that the mandatory door to door work for corporate interest poses if some brazen pedophile uses this situation to satisfy some primal urge.
but you never know these guys on the governing body of la la land must be on some serious meds to be functioning these days so only time will tell..

my roommate (j) is sleeping sitting up right on his pc.. my other roommate (c) says "how do you sleep sitting up like that".
i said "years of practice, you didn't go to church as a kid did you?
".
LOL! good one.
i am comforted by the realization that my little life has not been lived totally in vain.
there's been a lot of good stuff come my way.
most of my mistakes were not life altering.
Although called a "man of God," I would have preached less and allowed the unlettered and ordinary man to teach me a thing or two about what is, truly, the "real life."
Great line. I relate to that. Thanks.
recently, someone who knows deborah drexler, the current copyright holder of cofc, asked her if she will consider having it published again.
her response was:.
" i will have to ask jesus"!!!!!.
" I will have to ask Jesus"!!!!!
There goes the book!
a couple years ago we had a speaker, better than average, give the talk.
since i was still pretty much a believer, i commented to him how i enjoyed the talk, and how it was "entertaining".
it was, but he got mad as it was one of the beat the fear of god (governing body) into you talks.
It was, but he got mad as it was one of the beat the fear of god (governing body) into you talks. I wasn't doing anything of the things mentioned, so had no guilt; but he apparently wanted everyone to do a repentance and "march to the altar" or something
Some people in general (and particularly those who are brainwashed or conditioned to feel the way they are told to) feel uncomfortable accepting a compliment. His reaction may be coming out of his own sense of inadequacy around getting credit for something instead of his Jehovah getting all the credit.
according to the watchtower:.
who received the ransom payment?.
why did the ransomer need to be paid?.
Who received the Ransom payment?
ISIS
Why did the Ransomer need to be paid?
For their election campaign
Who was Jesus sacrificed to?
Hillary Clinton
Who was being held captive and by whom?
Anne Coulter
Whom did the Ransomer release?
Kellyanne Conway
I'm not kidding. My point is that any answer I can give you, including those, make as much sense as the ones that the WT gives. It's all fabricated, made up nonsense.
i have not been here in a while, just trying to move on with my life all the while dealing with a very pimi brainwashed wife.. so the other day she started saying that we will have to go our own ways when things get worse with this world.
she has said this before because she believes that the government will turn on religion and the great and powerful wizards (guardians of doctrine g.o.d.
) will call everyone and tell them where to go.. thank god, (no pun intended) i have been out of the loop for such a long time.
I don't mean to be crass, but this:
So the other day she started saying thAT we will have to go our own ways when things get worse with this world.
would worry me more than the WT crap. This directly attacks her commitment to be married to you. I find that comment a little out of place.
but, where in the bible do they get this belief and how do they spin this to mean this.
I'm no expert, and been out for a long time, but the crap that they claim about that is the Revelation. I remember that greatly because as a 5 year old I started asking questions, horrified of the visuals of a prostitute having sex with a dragon. I was explained that the fornication between the prostitute and the dragon meant the relationship between religion and government, and that somehow both are going to end in the lake of fire, which gave me a visual of the then current governor getting burned alive (gee, I wonder how I made it out with some sanity!).
So that is not directly told in the Bible (you would think that such important part of the story would be better communicated). It's told through visions and those thins that John wrote while under the influence of something.
she will never wake up, i proved to her the other day that 607 bce is a false date...i did it using her own literature. but no dent....i have given her so much TTATT that it would make your head spin.
First, you just don't know that for sure. Second, you keep reasoning with her about what is written, words and doctrine. The reality is that many people in the WT don't even understand what they are taught, they just follow along because they are conditioned to believe whatever crap they are told. That may have been what woke you up, but that may not be what speaks to her.
Why is she a JW? If she's not born- in that religion, she didn't know anything about their teachings at the time when she got interested and decided to join. What spoke to her then? What got her interested? Whatever that is, that's what you should address. It still baffles me that people keep trying to (only) deal with the reasoning part of the equation to brainwashed people, without even remotely considering that there are FEELINGS, things that give them comfort, that make them feel good and part of that organization.
What does she value there? That's what you should deal with.
watchtower writings used to have some meat to them.
they have been increasingly watered down and simplified.
i think we all recognize that.
Watchtower writings used to have some meat to them.
Not really. The WT used to be more bold and reckless in their lies and nonsense. Now that real information is at people's fingertips, and now that they have gotten sued left and right, they are more careful in what/how they say things. That's all.
i'm sure the date january 2018 + 'message of judgement' has been kicking around the exjw's various forums for a while now, and the more i think about it, the more i get worried.
not for myself really, but for my mother especially.
i guess you could consider her to be pomi (physically out, mentally in) she's faded in the sense that she doesn't go to meetings, doesn't really live by many of the rules any longer, is in a relationship with a worldly man, etc etc etc, however, she still considers herself to be a witness, and will defend the org if need be.
I don't know, I guess this has just been on my mind for a while now. I'm praying that whatever happens, its not enough to make my worst fears come true.
I know it's just a guess, but I'm sure that you know your mother enough to make very educated guesses. My question is, how is her life outside the JWs? What has she replaced the time and energy she used to spend with the JWs with? It may not be the believes what she misses, bit other things, from something to do, to friends, a sense of community, a sense of belonging, etc. Has she gotten that outside?
Something else to consider is that some people leave the JWs but have several degrees of believes. One example is yourself. You are still a Christian, which means that you still have some believes that may or may not coincide with the Wt's nonsense.
Something else to consider is just inquiring. Have you two have a conversation about it? How has the communication between the family members been about the Wt and their things. With your post I have the impression that every member in the family made their decision but never talked about it with the other (I may be wrong, of course). Is that a possibility, to just ask her?
I hope this helps.

My taxpayer money supported the pathetic life of that loser. Good riddance.
