I think most people where shocked by the strange beliefs of the JahKult, and angered by their arrogance regarding child molestation claims.

"Worldly" view of Dateline
by DevonMcBride inall of the non-jw's that i know were shocked to hear that the jw's consider worldly people to be part of satan's world.
most non-jw's only know that the jw's are holy rollers who go door to door trying to convert.
they really don't know much more about them and to learn this was a bit of an education.. devon

Jehovah has a Bad Day
by TexSham inwhen the crime of child molestation occurs within the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses, organizational policies punish the victim and protect the accuser.
jehovahs witnesses require a victim of molestation to produce two credible witnesses to support his/her claim, when, in fact, rarely is there ever more than one witness to this type of crime.. in light of recent allegations against the catholic church, individual elders, in charge of administering the organization at the local, or congregation level, have been admonished in a recent organizational letter to contact their regional headquarters legal department upon becoming aware of evidence of child abuse, rather than contacting the local authorities.. the witnesses stress in their door-to-door work how different their religion is from all the others, on the pretext that they are right, and everyone else is wrong.
how will local "elders" accused of child molestation react?

When the crime of child molestation occurs within The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, organizational policies punish the victim and protect the accuser.
Jehovah’s Witnesses require a victim of molestation to produce two credible witnesses to support his/her claim, when, in fact, rarely is there ever more than one witness to this type of crime.
In light of recent allegations against the Catholic Church, individual “Elders”, in charge of administering the organization at the local, or “congregation” level, have been admonished in a recent organizational letter to contact their regional headquarters Legal Department upon becoming aware of evidence of child abuse, rather than contacting the local authorities.
The Witnesses stress in their door-to-door work how different their religion is from all the others, on the pretext that they are Right, and everyone else is wrong.
How will local "elders" accused of child molestation react? Will they come forward, and vindicate their good Jehovah names? Or will they hide?
Jehovah released a press release today, where he never responded to the claims of covering up cases of child molestation, he only expounded on his right to not come on camera. Not a good start for Jehovah I’d say.

JWs' Letter to Dateline
by jschwehm ini just got a copy of the society's letter to dateline as to why they would not agree to an on-camera interview.. they said that since dateline told them that most of the people that they were interviewing considered themselves active jws, that for the headquarters to make a statement that it would make it appear as though "brother" was speaking out against "brother".
and that a nationally televised program was not the appropriate forum for them to work out their differences.
(this is interesting since the pandelos and barb have been dfed, haven't they?).

That letter has all the looks of being written quickly. Where is the defence to the larger arguments? There is only a defense as to why they will not appear on camara. That's haste.

I guess they didn't think this was a good time to make a witness. They were afraid of the question, no doubt about it. Otherwise, you go on and defend yourself. The Question of the Day is, what were THEY afraid that the REPORTER would ask them, enough afraid that they would not do on camara interview?
Well, I'll tell them, what they always told me, "It will all come out in the wash."
I have two quarters for the machine. Do you?

Dateline---That was It?
by Lindy inwell, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.
i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.
the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.

This is the problem.

HOW DO JW ELDERS GET APPOINTED?
by crawdad2 inhow come there are so many jw elders that are not nice?.
is there something wrong with the way they are choosing them, or is there something wrong with the ones choosing them?
-
TexSham
The elders are the men who take responsibility and pay the light bill when the flock does not.
Which, by the way, affords them more opportunity to pray on our young.

How did the WT do compared to Catholic Church?
by Perry inwhere was the sorrow for the victums?
where was the promise to the sheep that they'll do a better job of shepherding?
where was the repentant attitude?.

The Catholic Church can afford to purge some people and move on. Can Jehovah spare the souls?

It's the two witnesses thing that hangs them by their shorts. I, for one, love to hear them use that argument. Bye Bye.

The chance is near zero that anyone would read that and think that they were doing anything but running.
