  i'm interested to know the age demographics here.

  it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.

  it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.

  64. I was told I wouldn’t make it to first grade in “this system”. My granddaughter starts first grade in 3 weeks. Mean Mr Mustard, can you also provide your DOB, SSN, and mother’s maiden name. lol 😁 Just kidding.

  Remember the sex talks?

  i remember sitting through public talks where the speaker spent the hour discussing in great detail anal sex, masturbation (of yourself and others), sex during menstruation and so on.

  .

  i was a child, looking back now, i realise that they systematically stripped away our childhood innocence, we knew and heard things no 'worldly' child would have heard.. the child abuse and grooming happened to every single one of us, the feelings of guilt and shame was in all of us even if we didn't actually do anything bad, the mental images caused by these filthy men hung around in our innocent minds till there was no room for that innocence.. it has taken me 44 years to realise that what was done to us, even those of us not physically abused, is a crime.. do they still have talks like that nowadays i wonder?

  What was covered up in your congregation??

  family move to remote pacific island to serve were the need is great get a mention in the year book.. however one of the (married) boys in the large family has sex with his sister while his wife is in hospital giving birth to their child.

  all hushed up not even a word said and hes now an elder d.fing people for lesser crimes.. young couple dating leave the jws and move in togather doing drugs partying ect.. his family grandfather,uncles, dad ect are all elders.. after a few years they decide to come back to the jws and are married in the k.h a few months latter.. 1 elder questions them getting married in the k.h and is voted down by his family.. to many drunks and c.s.a to mention.. karter..

  CSA got covered up in my congregation. Also, part of that scandal included an elder, with 2 teenagers, was seen in a ‘ritual’ in somebody’s basement, sacrificing chickens and scaring preschoolers with this crap. The sister did home day care, only for other witnesses. It was her basement.

  Holding a grudge

  i read something recently on reddit (not sure what thread) where a person related how some jw told them that ‘they hold a grudge’.. this reminded me of something an old jw acquaintance said to me some years back when i related my bad experience in the religion.. so, apparently, jehovah’s witnesses feel they should be forgiven for anything.

  people should forget all about it and act like nothing happened and be charitable towards them, etc… when i read in james and ephesians i got the sense ‘holding a grudge’ was referring to the things average people do to offend each other.. i don’t see it applying to a religion that claimed to speak for god and who engendered hateful and unchristian attitudes towards people.. i know because i experienced this.. in addition, some people’s lives were damaged by listening to faulty teachings and interference in things that were clearly none of anybody’s business.. one case in point: them knocking worldly careers and now there are thousands of destitute jws in senior years with nothing.. then in 2023 the religion does away with a century old teaching about counting hours in the ministry.

  meanwhile, i got judged over this.

  I was at the assembly (district) in summer of 1976. Fred Franz had a talk there. He SHOOK HIS FIST at the audience and told us suckers sitting that it was OUR FAULT that nothing happened in 1975. No accountability at all on his part. I remember thinking, ‘what a fucking liar.’ I was 16. I knew I was leaving this awful organization as soon as I could escape, and I did! 👏😁

  but the entire congregation is not to be informed or mark the person.

  the only repercussions are that the individual who is aware of it can decide to "mark" them and not go to the local club or bar with the individual, but they are still obligated to go door to door in the ministry with them, and even speak to them at the kn as if nothing is wrong and not feel obligated to tell anyone else?

  this is crazy.. so they are also basically saying that a person can carry on a romantic (but none sexual) relationship with an unbeliever and still go out in service and participate in meetings?

  My opinion only: If someone is “no longer a congregation member”, then they should be treated like a worldly person. JWs interact every day with worldly people. Workmates, neighbors, people you interact with day by day. If they just got treated normally, not like seeing them in a grocery store, or some other random place, greet them as someone you haven’t seen in a while, and say hello, exchange pleasantries. Whereas now, if they see you in the store, they run the other way. 🤷‍♀️ If they expect full on shunning, then F them.
