  Why does it affect us so deeply?

  i was having a great chat with a valued friend and fellow forum member today on the phone.. we were discussing how deeply we all get affected by jw interactions - even years after fading or disassociating.. you know what i mean.

  those days when we run into jws who we considered to be our close friends.

  or "loving shepherds" who don't act kindly.

  Bumped Into One Of My Best Friends On The Carts This Morning

  so this morning i'm walking to my office and there's the jws on their carts outside as usual.

  and old sister, a brother in his 20s and an elder i instantly recognized from my jw days.

  one of my best friends of about 20 years.. i genuinely just wanted to say hi as i havent seen him in 3 years.

  1980s Brochure/magazine on demon possession?

  does anyone else remember a brochure/ magazine from the early 80s with stories of demon possessed individuals and spiritism ?

  i dont think i saw it around very long.

  it had a story about some lady having her head snapped around by a demon.

  A sister in our hall had 4 kids, unbelieving husband. One of the kids had smurf draperies in his room, she claimed at night they jumped off the drapes and danced around his bed. I think she was a little nuts, she claimed she went in his room and saw this happening. She burned the drapes. Lol

  Are Jehovahs Witnesses false prophets

  i thought this was a very interesting argument by robert king.

  i liked the point he made about if israel had a prophet who spoke in the name of jehovah and it did not occur did this mean that the nation of israel was a false prophet or more so if the nation of israel sincerely believed it.

  the answer to that is a resounding no because the nation of israel was god’s appointed nation.

  The April 1, 1972 WT, pg 197 has an article entitled "They shall know that a prophet was among them." They claim in this article that these prophets are Jehovahs Christian Witnesses. After you check this out, read Deuteronomy 18:20-22. False prophets, case closed.

  What JW habits do you still have?

  since leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.

  however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.

  1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).

  1969 Awake on Education - A Sore Spot for Me

  my father would have started college 49 years ago this week.

  about three months earlier, the week he graduated high school, the awake!

  magazine came out with some very clear direction to teenagers.

  I remember that article, and I was only 10 years old. I felt so trapped, even then. I was screwed for a few years til I wised up and got a good job and pension that didn't require college. I'm still working, another few years to retirement! I still regret not having a chance to go to college. Those evil men in Warwick have a lot to answer for. If there is a class action lawsuit against the org for this, and the mental and emotional abuse, I want in!
