Estimating future growth or decline of Watchtower
by shepherdless ini have seen a few posts here, in various guises, in relation to whether watchtower is in decline.
plenty of people respond, but it is all fairly anecdotal, or "gut feel".
some of it has been wishful thinking.. as of late 2015, watchtower's numbers suggest it is still growing marginally, but there are various anecdotes on this site of publishers typically being older, and younger ones disappearing.

I don't see how the median age of congregations could have anything to say. The only way, would be for you to get information of the median age of a whole bunch of congregations in a specific country, a whole bunch. Congregations mirror the surrounding area, the country - there are so many "things" involved. You would need the median age of the JW community in a country as a whole. -

Unbelievable! Is this even allowed? Two elders from my hall RANDOMLY stopped by my apartment!
by macys inok wow.
i am really really pissed.
i had to really hold back and bite my tongue.

"Allowed"? Why do you ask whether it is "allowed"? Does one have to be "allowed" to visit you? I don't understand this one. At the same time that you state you are in the process of being reinstated, you shout loudly because you are being visited? Why do you want to be reinstated, if it is such a bad thing to be visited? -

Words omitted from a Watchtower article
by Doug Mason ina short time ago i sought information regarding a quotation in the watchtower of april 1, 2010, which did not identify the exact source of the quotation from professor oskar skarsaune.
my interest was heightened because words had been omitted from the source.. the wts provided a copy of the original 29-page article, which is in norwegian.. here is my very unofficial personal translation of the passage from professor skarsaune's article that the watchtower is quoting.
firstly i provide the text as it appears in the watchtower magazine, highlighting where the text has been omitted.

"Watchtower wants followers to think that the Bible Canon was closed by the Apostles, not at some later period by the Church."
Not quite so, is it? "Scripture Inspired" book has a chapter on this, and ends with a list of canon identifying when compiled etc., and it is nowhere stated that the Apostles themselves decided on which books.

Chitty
by StopTheTears ini've learned that many years ago, there was a man named brother chitty of some prominence in the jehovah's witnesses organization.
it fact, chitty was a member of the governing body.
chitty was asked to resign his position after serving for many years and nothing much was ever said about it to jehovahs witnesses.

"Fisherman...crawl back under your rock. You are a JW and that's where you belong. I won't feed trolls."
Yeah, so much for discussion. "You're free to speak Your mind, my friend, as long as you agree with me"

Would you have married your spouse if you weren't both JWs?
by 3rdgen inok, i've had some wine, but i'm curious.
objectively speaking, but for the religion, did you have enough in common with your spouse to have met and married as non believers?

Back stabbing a spouse publicly never was something to engage in. -

After leaving what did you Major in?
by Luther bertrand ini am curious if my observations are correct.
i noticed alot of exjws end up majoring in the social sciences.
i am also interested in what educational choices people have made either while fading or while completely out.

Greg Stafford no longer a JW
by My Struggle inthis may be old news to some while most won't even know who he is.
in case you don't know him, he was a jw that defended many of the jw doctrine publicly.
he did this mainly in the form of two books, jw's defended and three dissertations on the teachings of jw's.

"Greg Stafford is pictured on page 2 of the March 2016 meeting work book."
That is NOT Greg!

The March JW broadcast, presented by paedophile enabler Geoffery Jackson
by jambon1 inall warm and fluffy this month after the utterly laughable 'bread' broadcast.
.
i'll always be grateful to the australian royal commission for allowing us to see this duplicitous, lying, creep, shown up as a snivelling, suck up, asshole, taken completely out of his self appointed authoritarian comfort zone.. anyway, a not too interesting broadcast i have to say..

"So now they want the sisters to make the bread???? Store bought isn't good enough??"
Not exactly NOW, as descriptions of how to bake the bread have been given for decades in the WT, so there is no use for four question marks as if this is something new. Store bought? I don't think I have ever come across a store that has passover bread. No doubt they have it in specialized stores, but my guess is they are rather scarce.

How did you feel when they eliminated the Con. Book Study?
by Freeandclear inyears ago when i was "in" i loved the book study.
it was my favorite meeting by far.
mainly because it was a small group.

I was and am sad about it. It was the nicest meeting, you got to know the others, you could ask questions, you had time to discuss things, very often there was food or cakes - I miss it.
