  Missing Monthly Broadcast - May 2015

  youtuber millstone research has done a video on the fact that the may 2015 monthly broadcast is no longer on jw org.. https://www.jw.org/en/library/videos/#en/categories/studiomonthlyprograms.

  the broadcast was presented by lett who mentions he had the backing of the other gb members regarding his comments.. the broadcast is basically about soliciting jws for funds as well as other 'valuable things' for the organisation.

  this is the one where he claims that the money flowing out was more than the money flowing in.

  You misunderstood, pistolpete. They sold a hen and for the money they got for it, they were able to feed a couple of families for the days in question.

  By the way, when my wife and I buy a chicken for dinner, we have enough food to last for two days - which means four dinners, then. You say you eat one chicken for dinner. I guess that explains the difference observed in body size between European and US citizens ..................

  maybe i missed it since i have not been on here as much in the last 6 months.

  Sorry to put an end to all the beautiful speculations, but it is obvious that some of you did not pay 100 % attention at the mid-week meeting last November, when a letter from HQ was read, stating that Awake nos 1 and 2 of 2021 as well as the public Watchtower no 2 of 2021 would be delayed three or four months.

  Why, I do not know, but my guess is that all the presses are busy with the new study brochure, which presently is being published in tens upon tens of languages.

  it is a challenge next sunday for them .

  due to starting the convention programme the wt study will be a 30 minute run through ,and deals with this prophecy ... i doubt the younger ones are familiar with it at all bur oldies could debate it at length .we on the look out for the king of the north to enter "the land of decoration" (more to follow,maybe next week).

  this article makes a grand claim in par 2.

  Bobcat, "The NWT uses "and" in Dan 11:25 since it first came out. But I saw no footnote explaining the reason. I don't think I have seen any other translation that uses "and." They all say "but" or something equivalent."

  Both Young's Literal Translation and Douay-Rheims Translation use "and".

  But, my question - after having read and reread the verse several times - what difference does it make? I fully understand the difference between the words "but" and "and" - but in this verse, I do not see how the meaning changes? Please enlighten me.

  well known norway elder and watchtower doctrine apologist, (rolf furuli) was disfellowshipped a few days ago for the crime of expressing opinions contrary to some watchtower dictates.. like wt leadership in the past, they have no problem eating their own..

  He was not just an elder - he is a former CO, a former DO, the main speaker at numerous conventions, an extremely nice, friendly and knowledgeable man - AND he was a consultant / proof reader for the 1984 NWT of the Hebrew Scriptures (OT).

  Why doesn't the Watchtower Society never study the Bible cover to cover?

  in the 40 years as a jehovah's witness, i never read the bible cover to cover.

  the three meetings a week were broken up with book studies, awake and watchtower magazines,and ministry& field service meetings, all written by the watchtower society.

  never did we read any chapters from genesis to revelation and discuss the true meaning of what we just read.

  I do not quite understand what you mean with your question. In the so-called mid-week meeting, each week two or three chapters are commented on, a talk is given on a major point from the chapters, and those present are invited to tell what points of interest they have found in the chapters in question. They start with Genesis and end with Revelation after five years or so, and then they start all over again. Additionally, when a new book of the Bible is in line, a video is shown giving the main points, the background, the when and where and by whom.

  In short, exactly what you state is NOT done.

To make an example rewritten from Jung, a woman tells him about her dream of a foreign special type of beetle. At the same time there is a sound of wings hitting the window, Jung opens the window and in flies a domestic beetle of a very similar kind. It is a coincidence, something takes place at the same time in the psychic/mental realm (the dream or telling of it) and in the physical realm (the beetle appears). It is acausal, because the dream retold some days later than when it took place could not have made the beetle appear, and the beetle could not have made neither the dream to be dreamt some days earlier or the telling of it to take place at that time. But the coincidence is meaningful to the person witnessing it. It is as if some unseen, outside force made the mental/psychic thing to take place at the same time as something physically happened. Some outside force is at hand, something perhaps paranormal.

  Two, I am a collector of books. I take good care of them. They are neatly arranged in the bookshelves of my home. None of them are placed so that they could fall out, everything is strict, that is a madness of mine.

  OK, the scene is set. The story of what took place yesterday.

  We have been trying to sell the house, but it is slow. Yesterday was a viewing, but only a handful of people came and the agent said none wished to bid. So my wife and I in the evening sit down with a couple of drinks (not whisky). "This was a very bitter experience", I say, "very bitter". "Yes", says the wife, "bitter is the word". Then there is a loud crash coming from upstairs. Loud. "What was that?" says the wife, and bids me to go upstairs to have a look.

  Up I go. Upstairs are some bedrooms and a floor between them. A couple of bookshelves, orderly and neatly filled. But in the middle of the floor lies a book, pages down, front and back cover up. It lies some three feet away from the bookshelf where it had stood. It had not fallen directly down, and there was no reason why it should have, as it was arranged in one of the shelves. It was as if it either had been pushed from the back of the shelf or drawn out from its place and tossed very hard on the floor. None of the neighboring books were affected, only this one. And the noise no way corresponded to a softcover book having fallen down, it was way to loud. It had fallen at an angle of 45 degrees from the shelf, some three feet forwards and three feet downwards.

  The book lies with its cover directly to me.

  Every book has a title.

  This one too.

  The title is written in large letters on the cover.

  You want to know its title?

  Sure you do.

  The book's title was:

  "Bitter almonds".

  I put it back, go downstairs and tell my wife what had happened and say "Someone wanted to tell us something". "Yes", says the wife, "someone wanted to".

  I think all you Jungians will take delight in this story.

  And all you non-Jungians coincidence-lovers, please at least admit it was interesting/strange/chilling/a "wow"-thing.

  rumour has it that all of europe received the translation yesterday, because gerrit lösch visited the european branch in selters (germany).

  can anyone confirm that?.

  This is not something new. One year ago, it was issued in the three Nordic languages Danish, Swedish and Norwegian, and the title was "The Bible - The New World Translation". It was stated it was because there are many holy books and there could be confusion as to what faith or religion it dealt with, and therefore the term Bible was used to show what it was. But I also thought of Russia.

  Infiltrated Elders?

  so i'm watching john cedars commentary on the annual meeting from this last october, and at one point he shows a clip of garrett loesch talking about the struggles jehovah's witnesses faced decades before in the soviet union.

  he claimed that police officers, maybe the kgb, infiltrated congregations which met in secret by studying with jehovah's witnesses, getting baptized, and then working their way up to becoming elders.

  ceders jokes that this shows what kind of role holy spirit actually plays within body of elders, but another interpretation came to my mind just now.

  Life story WT 1992.04.15 pp 26-30 from East Germany - he was later found to have been a secret police agent infiltrating the organization. Served as a co for some time.
