Troubled, I can appreciate you making this point but this is not what is taught. While I was a JW for some 25 years, I never recall this even being speculated or hoped for.

Oh yes, friend, this is frequently hoped for. One thing is of course that we all hope for all mankind to be "saved", but the words of Jonah are used quite frequently. Not long ago, a DO here gave a talk on the matter, and stated that if a worldwide "salvation" was obtained, then the words of the Bible when describing destruction, would not be void or nullified, but with be the warning of what would have happened had not mankind rurned around, made the shift or change. So this is taught.

I do not ever have as intention to "hit and run", but partly I see that there is prescious little room for discussions, because one far too often is being shouted at or name-called, it is nothing like it was over at Obed's place in the good old days, and partly the time difference between the two continents separated by the Atlantic makes a discussion difficult.
I had just finished reading the book about Anton Uran as well as the book about Franz Wohlfart, and the letters moved me to make a private translation of them, as the reveal the moral, the thoughts, the values held by the type of persons who are shouted at and held in the lowest possible esteem by so many here, that one in gloomier moments might wonder if not some of them would have liked to be the one holding the axe. I would prefer to let Uran's words speak for themselves. -

I have been notified that the verdict I have received, has been approved by the Court and that I will be beheaded this evening at 6:30 PM. Dear parents, these are the few lines that I can write to you. I ask you once again not to be sad because I am to die and not to cry because I am now lost.
No, because God our Lord will resurrect us and give us new bodies, in which we can serve Him forever. Liberated from sin on the new Earth, in peace and justice.
In the last three years I have had to suffer much because of my faith. And likewise I will present myself to this same suffering today, in my final hour, with strength and braveness and an upright conscience, in front of my Lord.
I just wish from my heart, that you could also feel the same, so that you will not cry because of me. Because eternal life in God's Kingdom is of much higher value that a life in this present sinful world. So find the Scriptures and ask the Lord, that He through His mercy may protect you from the punishment, which He will present to the whole world. Admit to your sinds and follow His ways, which are higher than all the human laws, and only then can you save your souls from death.

Please do not put all in the same box; I care about others and I care about what has happened and about the tragic deaths. Nobody should use such an act of terrorism to achieve their own goals. People react differently under stress; some show their emotions, others are more reluctant. Nobody is untouched by this, it is much discussed in the Kingdom Halls, and then the loss of all the thousands is mourned, not just the brothers and sisters.

Dan Rather on Dave Letterman last night
by Tallyman inwatching the david letterman "late show" last night was very touching.. dave had on as his main guest, dan rather, cbs newsman and anchor.
of the cbs evening news.. now, this man, rather, is supposed to be a hardened journalist,.
whose job is to report the news objectively and hide emotions/opinion.. he has seen a lot in his long career as a journalist.. he broke down in tears last night twice while dave was interviewing .

Well, I am not cheering at all, my friend, I found the terrorist crime disgusting - I find no fitting word just now.
At the same time, though, I think of the 500,000 Iraqi children who have died since the Gulf War because of the UN embargo; I think of the 500,000 or so who dies in Rwanda; of the 2,000 or so who dies in the refugee camps massacre by the Israeli some twenty years ago.
There is so much agony, so much terrorism, so much evil.
If one is to die, though, one had better do it together with many others, in an instant, and on television - the daily, silent deaths do not seem to count. -

Poor guy, he was an Asian and had a broken English accent. Too bad he was ever allowed entering your prescious country, especially blessed by God as it is. Why did he not have the sense to work in one of the two buildings in stead of harrassing you? Then you might have been liberated from his ugly face forever ..............

The letter was rescued from the Nazi archives?
Not quite so; it was printed in the 1934 Yearbook, and it is printed in whole in both German and English versions in most of the 20-30 books written in Germany on Jehovah's Witnesses and their experiences during World War II.
There is no secrecy about this letter, and there is nothing strange about its contents. It just states that each and everyone could sign up and agree with the general, nice-worded governmental program of the National Socialists in Germany. After all, they did not write in their governmental program that they were to exterminate all Jews, Sinti and Roma, Homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Communists etc. - the wrote "Labour for all", "New roads", "Secure homes", "Stable economy" etc. And who would not subscribe to that?
Meaningfull conversations on these topics could be held, but not with the attitude you come forth with, I am afraid.

well, about 3 years ago, i went to a bookstudy, after being inactive for awhile and trying to go back to meetings, anyway, one of the elders saw a kingdom ministry in my bookbag and asked me," where did you get that "?
i told them an elder had given it to me.
