I really wouldn't place too much emphasize on the subscription issue, as this arrangement has been going on in the rest of the world for up to 7-8-9-10 years. It is nothing new. Magazine deliveries and number of magazines printed has increased, so this is no starting point of a downwards trend, but in stead it is the US (finally) following the rest of the world.

Just a note on the "subscriptions thing": This arrangement has been going on in the rest of the world for a decade or so, so this is no turning point in any direction at all, it is just the US following the rest of us Earth-dwellers.

Can You Defend Yourself before a J. Committee?
by D wiltshire into those who have been before a judicial committee for apostacy.. the elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can df you.. at my appeal hearing serveral months ago i was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original dfing stand.. after they were finished with their questions i ask if i could now defend myself and prove that i was telling the truth and not a biblical apostate.. the chairman informed me that i would not be allowed to defend myself.. i looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.
to them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.. wow.. the chairman said they really were not a judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the bible.
in fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.. .

Still the picture is not as black and white as some have experienced here. I was ousted once, by four elders and a CO. Then I wrote a ten pages letter to all COs and DOs I could think of and knew. An appeal com. was formed with 2 COs and 3 POs, and after a good conversation the first decision was nullified and critizised. The original CO soon stepped down, and one elder moved. Had it not worked, I would have proceeded with GB letters.
My point is, if you have a case you feel is strong, then keep your head cool, write down everything relevant and distribute it as widely as you can "upwards". My naive feeling is that if you have a good case, you are treated nicely and with respect by the "upwards" guys - it's the "men in the middle" who at times can be a bit more difficult. -

Why Jw's Are so Blind to the REAL TRUTH?
by disneycuty innow that i am out i have a hard time understanding why people accept these changes from the society as "new light" and than view it as "truth.".
when i remember reading the scripture that "satan blinds the minds of the unbeliever.
" i didn't know that scripture applies to jehovah's witness.

Room 215, Amen to you, and I whole-heartedly agree; if only everything did not have to be that 100 % or that square or whatever it is called, life would have been so very much simpler. On the point of doctrine, as an example, imagine if we could have had an in-depth magazine of some kind issued for example twice a year or so, giving pro and cons on a topic or two, such as soul or trinity or whatever, just to give an example, that one could discuss a bit. And if one could recognize that even if things are done very differently and by no means according to the "book" or "regulations", people doing it in different ways have a heart just as interested in achieving "good" as have the others, that we have common goals even if the manners and acts and ways are different - then much of all these problems would have disappeared, because we would have TRUST in the others' goals or objectives or honest intentions.
Naeblis - I see you stick to your name-calling and insults, and I have no intentions of lowering myself down to your level. -

Congratulations! It is nice to see people standing up for what they believe in or do not believe in. I am sure it will make it easier both for you and for those remaining, as the air will have been cleaned for all parties. I wish you a happy life for as long as it lasts (and am just sorry that it will not be as long as it could have been ...... :-) )

I think, and I am trying to be a bit serious, that all the lies and misrepresentations and name-calling and shouting and pure evil expressions and slandering and deceitfulness one sees from the side of the opposers and apostates, makes one cling even stronger to what one believes to be the truth, because these opposers are so evil in their behaviour towards plain Witnesses, that they hunt or scare you back into the group, if you try to stick out your neck and engage in what you hope will be a fruitful discussion.

Nice fake story; what surprises me, though, is that these other jerks are stupid enough to believe in your fairytales of hatred!

The UN Requirements and how the WTS measured up
by sunscapes inhttp://www.globalpolicy.org/ngos/ngo-un/info/res-1296.htm .
the link above points to the economic and social council's resolution with regards as to consultative relations.
excerpts follow, afterward my comments: .

But if one cares to scroll down the entire list of NGOs, one might wonder who actually lives up to these requirements. In which for example Moslem groups is there democracy, in which of the different -jamalla-allah-jalla-galla organizations is there respect for human rigts etc. So the wide gap between reality and requirements makes this whole thing one large joke.

Milton Henschel and the UN helicopter trip
by bj insome weeks ago, someone on this board alleged that milton henschel took profit of the un by using their helicopter.
as you can imagine this is a serious accusation which need to be founded on proof.
therefore, i would like to know what are your sources?

I see that I misunderstood; I thought he had been transported by a UN helicopter, not by Kent The Beast.
