  but what really shocks me now is that as a child i genuinely believed some of the most preposterous, stupid and moronic things ever committed to papyrus.. take the nephilim.

  They didn't die in the Flood, the offspring, the Giants, did, but the angels returned. Me thinks you are mixing up the Giants with the angels here.

  CO talk

  we had our second co talk yesterday, the topic of which was loyalty, thinly veiled as to one another, but dripping with threats toward those who might go against the society.. after the usual drivel about the society being god's organisation, and appreciating their junk food (as an aside, has anyone actually vomitted up any of this "food"??

  just wondering...), i was rudely dragged out of my slumber by the co's harsh declaration that we should shun all those who slipped away from the thruth, as they inactivity is a bad influence.

  he went on to heap the blame on them, "if they feel this way, then they should expect their due", "they bring shunning onto themselves" etc.... has it always been this way?

  But it must be a bit old, since it does not refer to the latest treatment of the Declaration, which was to found in Awake (or was it Watchtower? I don't have the CD here) a couple of years ago. There, one will see that the 1974 Yearbook comments are acknowledged as being false.
  Further, I think the cookies thing and Mabel was not very approprate, otherwiese I found it a good introduction to the question.
  If it be any comfirt, I have waited months and months to get replies to rather simple questions, so patience my friend, seems to be a virtue ......

  Continued . . . My husband is stepping down -elder

  over a week ago i shared that my husband was stepping down as an elder last wednesday.. well, for all those inquiring minds that want to know, my husband's efforts were a total bust.

  first he talked to one elder who adamantly refused to accept his resignation.

  he encouraged and demanded that he stay.

  I stepped down, and no questions were asked and no problems encountered. I just say "no more" and stated my reasons in a couple of very long letters to the Society, and received notice that "permission granted".

  And why do the Palestinians do such things to those who have collaborated with the Israelis? Because of the extreme terror which the Israelis have brought upon the Palestinians, and therefore they react like this towards those who have collaborated with the brutal, murderous enemy. What took place in France after the germans lost? In the Scandinavian countries of Denmark and Norway? In East Europe above all? How were Japanese treated at one point in God's Own Prescious Never-Wrong Country, USA The World Police, during WWII?
  Using this as an argument towards the heroic Palestinian people could only be done by a US Never-Wronger.

  i'm in need of advice:.

  today a jw wrote an article in a norwegain newspaper about the pedofile catholic priests scandal in the us these days.

  obviously, he enjoyed smearing them and argumented that the institution of celibacy was the root to the evil doings.. but, this jw is not personally very active - and he didn't mention anything jw-related in his article at all.

  Watchtower Observer publishes a letter written by Herjulf Nesje and commented upon by one Kirsten, but no newspaper is mentioned here. Was this letter printed in the newspaper? I fail to find the link to the original article? Is this the same case we are talking about?

  Post-JW education?

  i was interested in how many of you took up higher education after leaving the jws, and how old you were etc.

  i started college at age 23 (still enrolled at 24), my mother got her ged at 35 - disfellowshipped and started college at 40 - and will graduate at 45 from the university of florida in june.

  my inactive sister is a freshman in college, right on time.. my jw brother has two kids and washes windows.

  New Testament Greak course at university and Spanish course at university WHILE being a Witness. Does that count? Added to a university degree in German and Phonetics and Language History and Sociology before / when becoming a Witness.
