NWT is soooo inaccurate....
by iwasblind inhi this is for the lurkers.. please start reading from another translation and use tools like www.biblehub.com to verify the differences you find.. biblehub has an interlinear and a strongs concordance and heaps of dictionaries and commentaries.. you don't have to be a translator but you can clearly see how the watchtower bible and tract society has changed the bible to devalue jesus, to support their idea of a paradise earth hope for christians and many other false doctrines.. i could never understand why the jw's where attacked when they chose to translate the bible - now i know.. seriously people, there are a lot smarter people than me on this forum and heaps of research.
.
don't be afraid of the truth!.

Strange then, that Jason BeDuhn acknowledges it - together with the Catholic New Jerusalem Bible - to be the most accurate and least corrupted one among the ones he investigated. (Apart from the use of THE NAME in the NT.) -

Had to go to a JW funeral yesterday.
by Crazyguy init's amazing how ones shun former witnesses or faders.
a couple of people said high to me that know i do not go but the rest no.
but the main reason i post is how ridiculous the funeral talk was.

When my neighbour (man, 65 years old) died a couple of years ago, I went to the Protestant funeral, and the priest told that in my Father's House there are many rooms - one for playing with Barbie dolls, one for playing with electric trains, one for playing soccer - yeah, so much for respectful funerals. I sat there feeling ashamed that I call myself a Christian and hoping the others attending would not think I also believe such bullshit.
The JW funerals I have attended have been 90 % good. The non-JW funerals have been mostly bad, but a fe have been good. One excellent was held by two so-called "street priets" (working among addicts, homeless, and one excellent was held for my father, by a leading protestant Bishop.
So as with most things in this world - generalization is harmful.

This article indicates the org will consider policy changes
by defender of truth ini think they were just telling the arc what they wanted to hear.. what do you think?.
couple of interesting quotes:.
"mr o'brien, co-ordinator of the church's australian branch committee, told the commission the organisation was "open to change".. in evidence, he said the committee would consider the greater involvement of women in child sex abuse cases, clearer guidance for elders hearing allegations and better communication with victims and their families about their legal options.. mr o'brien told the commission the church did not have a redress scheme for sex abuse victims but would consider establishing one.. vincent toole, head of the church's watchtower bible and tract society, told the commission he would seek independent legal advice about the church's obligations to report child sex abuse to the authorities.. justice mcclellan asked mr toole if he understood there was a general obligation for every citizen to report crimes to the authorities.. "coming to this commission has been a wake-up call for me, i can assure you," mr toole said.. www.smh.com.au/nsw/royal-commission-jehovahs-witnesses-to-review-approach-to-sex-abuse-allegations-20150805-gis2fh.html.

Just for the record Vincent Toole and Terrence Obrien you are both lying SOBs
by joe134cd ini just thought i would mention this on the off chance they might be lurking here.
the two quotes are.
(1)vincent toole ="i've never heard of the term 'theocratic warfare'".

TheOldHippie
"(2) Terrence Obrien "people are free to leave or become inactive without being viewed negatively"
Speaking from personal experience I had people tell me,,,,,,,"Speaking from MY personal experience, in my congregation's district there are some 8-10 inactive ones, and they are greeted and well treated by everone in the congregation, visited from time to time etc. One of them has been an elder, two servants. So it is a risky business to try to broaden one's own personal experience to be the one and only truth for the entire world. I never would try to say my experience is the universal one, and perhaps neither should you.

OrphanCrow, when you say that "The JWs were arrested in Germany because they wouldn't stop spreading political propaganda around and calling it "religious tracts". It wasn't that they were "non-military" it was because they were adversely political." -
then you come up with the - sorry for saying so - most stupid statement of the day. A plain lie, and no matter what one thinks about present-day JWs and WT, that does in no way make it legitime to minimize their sufferings during WWII or to try to explain it away or claim it was their own fault. Shame on you in this respect. Downplaying past tragedies because of present-day policies is just plain wrong and bad.

I find the question of whether one in this or that state or country is required to report or not, and to call HQ Legal to find out which one it is - is so STRANGE. Speaking for myself, I can only say that the moment I was told something or got the impression that this was going on - there was just one thing to do, call the cops, or at least call some official child protection agency that I knew would take action. The thought that you would have to call someone to hear if you are obliged to report it - is as said so weird. -

Turning personal tragedies into witchhunt because of church membership never was one of my favorite games to watch, whether the one experiencing a blackout was a Catholic, Buddhist, Evangelical or JW. -

Might I ask a simple question as a foreigner?
What does or can such a commission and its hearing lead to? Is it some sort of court which can make a decision, or can it suggest that the authorities or legal system take action, or "what is it" really?

Today I reversed preached to JW's about the scandal in Australia
by ILoveTTATT2 inso today a friend recommended that i ask the witnesses about the news in australia.
i am in mexico, in a city called mazatlan.. two weeks ago i talked with some jw's on the cart about the septuagint and the different bible versions.
so we had had a decently amicable conversation back then (i have never admitted i was a jw).. so today i saw them again, same place, same time.

"The second they know that JW official policies would have them expelled for trying to protect children"
Now THAT was perhaps not exactly true, was it?
