Met Leander Today&Experience w/ family

just thought i would post this experience for the jw.com board.. today was the first time i actually met someone from this website, and oh what an interesting time it was.. seeing as in how leander and i live only a matter of minutes from one another, after talking on the phone for several weeks, we finally arranged to meet.. leander's personal experience leading him to write a formal letter to his local congregation last week has sparked a flurry of events for him in recent days, and i felt obligated as a person to try and support him through his process.. possessing a vast library of wtbts literature dating back well over 50 years, i was able to show him in person the contradictions so readily apparent within their articles, and demonstrate how time and again the jw-sect have wavered back and forth, hither and thither on doctrine allegedly inspired by the very hand of god.. it was a very fruitful experience, but this is where it gets interesting.. trying to determine an acceptable place to sit down and go over the documents.. his place was rendered impossible because his hardcore, loyal jw wife and her family were at his home.

being a saturday, the library was closed, and with a literal totebox full of books (well over 40lbs) and brochures, anywhere else public such as a bar or bookstore (can you imagine walking in with a totebox of books?

) was not logical.

You're such a good guy in helping Leander, knowing that your family could walk in at anytime and knowing the consequences that it would bring.

My heart aches for you, I am so sorry you had to hear something like that from your own mom. I have a df'd friend that is going through the same thing with her parents and I somewhat am going through the same thing except my husband and his family haven't resorted to insulting me YET, I'm trying to prepare myself just in case that day ever comes.

Hearing so many go through so much pain makes me so terribly sad. Makes me wish that God would snap is fingers and make this religion disappear... vanish from the face of the earth so that no one else would ever have to suffer in this way again. If there is a God why did he ever allow for this religion to exist?

Our first birthday party!

we've just got back from the whacky-warehouse playbarn / pub where we had liam's birthday party (5) with all of his class.. lot's of fun for all the kids, liam was bit overwhelmed with the attention but enjoyed it (esp.

the presents that he's just been opening).. ah, it's great to be normal and see the kids joining in .

btw: no righteous servants of the most high god jehovah were beheaded or otherwise harmed as part of this event.

Aawww... Happy birthday to your son Simon. I love to hear stories like this of families being able to do normal and very special things, like celebrating birthdays, after leaving the borg. I can't wait until I can do this openly again.

Dateline TV Advertisement

"it's not just the catholics" -- so begins an ad promoting tuesday's dateline nbc show about the jw/child molestation coverup scandal.. then they show a silent lamb saying she was raped.

they went on to say it's true in not just one, but hundreds of cases.

Individual Thought

a few nights ago i asked two of my friends to watch the "young people ask: how can i make real friends?

" video with me, so that i could get an objective outside opinion.

and after watching it, we got into an hour long discussion about individual thought, the freedom of the mind, and the diffrences between personal opinions and forced opinions.

this program airs at 10 pm eastern which is well after the meetings are through!

I tend to disagree. Bookstudy on Tuesday nights is from 7:30 - 8:30. I think that leaves well enough time for a JW to make it back home in time to see the show. Those in the central time zone might maybe miss the very begining but could still catch most of it.
