Witnesses Just Want To Have Fun!
by Englishman inthere are hundreds and hundreds of permitted extra-curricular activities for jw's to enjoy.
activities that have nothing to do with religion or worship where jw's can really have a ball!.
so, for all of you people who sometimes wonder if you should perhaps go back, lets all list the permitted fun things that any witness can do in his / her spare time.. i'll get the ball rolling:.

how about blowing bambi to pieces.
My wife was relating what the person studying (yeah she started studying again) with her said,
"sometimes, my husband prays to Jehovah when he is out hunting, while he's waiting there [to blow bambi to pieces] because the things Jehoavh created are just so beautiful." -BLAME, KABOW. "oops i missed, now where was i? oh yes thank you Jehovah for this most delicious ice cream. and thank you for my boys who i will raise to kill other bambi's."

hey caspian
watch who your friends are
i have read Ray Franz's books (all of crisis and part of in search of) and found them insightful; however, i feel they/he are/is also duplicitous, and more of a catharsis and a CYOA than anything else. don't get me wrong, they are useful, but you do have to remember where he is coming from. he's pointing the finger at everybody else and sharing very little of the blame.
read the Orwellian world of Jehovah's Witnesses.
but if you really want a book or video that will open your eyes and has no bias whatsoever and was not specifically written for or against the WTB&TS please, please, please, read and watch Animal Farm by George Orwell. In all truthfulness, Animal Farm is the scariest book and recently there was a made for TV of Animal Farm, not sure if it is available to you in the UK. It is completely unbiased.
also George Orwell's book 1984 - it gets more complicated than Animal Farm but it is revealing.

Does power corrupt?
by sleepy in.
most of the people i knew as witnesses were nice people with genuine motives.. in fact those with obvious personnallity flaws, would not , in my congregation anyway , be made servants or elders.. but i wonder did the postion attained in the org actually change the people who were chosen?.
does the extra respect , power and aurthority over others cause changes in a person makeup they can not help?.

WHAT'S THE WORSE THING YOU DID AT THE MEETING?
by Mary ini would have to say the worst (aka: funniest) thing i ever did at a meeting was when i sat with the circuit overseer and his wife (many moons ago......) .
anyway, he was really prim and proper and she was of course, a very submissive wife who barely spoke without her husbands permission.
anyway, he goes to the platform and starts off by asking th audience: who was ahab?

raised my hand and corrected them on something. They were all commenting (especially elders and their wives) and saying that elders (in the cong i was attending at the time, and i guess any cong for that matter that anyone would be going to go to -after all who would admit to such a thing) don't tell their wives about who did what and etc.
so i raised my hand and asked, "so what was that talk we heard a couple weeks ago that bro. elder so-and-so gave based on a WT article from the WTB&TS from about 2 mo's ago that said that the number one problem with elders is they 'talk' to their wives. i heard that talk right here in this cong based on a WT we studied right here in this hall?" -you could here the crikets outside after that comment -because we had windows :)
oh yeah, farting and then blaming one of my kids. you need the kids for cover.

ted yack-ah-rez (i know it doesn't make sense from the spelling, but that's the way i have always heard his name said) the yack part is a kind of soft guttural sound. like a cat coughing up a fur ball, or hacking at your throat to draw up a loogie to clear your throat and spit on the sidewalk. same thing, but different.

Question for those who believe the bible.
by seven006 ina thread started by realist which mentioned the flood and the disappearance of the dinosaurs got me thinking.
since i do not own a bible i had to download one from the internet to check a few things out (my computer is really pissed at me now).
it's been many years since i read the bible but i needed to be accurate in my research to ask my question.
