  i propose a bare fisted match between bush and kerry, locked cage, one man comes out alive, that doesn't mean we want either as president, just let em fight it out, to the death, and save the airwaves.

  after that maybe barbara boxer versus ruth ginsburg, both in 'lingerie of hollywood' getups.. now, i'd buy tickets for that, you?

  I am looking forward to the "intellectual fight" i.e.., the Bush/Kerry debate this Thursday night. Kerry was a first class debater in College, and Bush, then Governor, did very well against incumbent Governor Richards.

  Funny, as time goes by, I reflect on this topic more and more....What saddens me is as time goes by, seeing some acquaintances pass away, I am saddened by the fact that we put so much time into relationships, family, deeds of merit , just to see these things pass into nothing. I live in the desert, and I have taken up sort of a hobby of seeking out ghost towns and desert ruins like old mining camps....I enjoy history.....areas that once held people that once held the same hopes, dreams I now think about....

  i was going to say something smartass, like "guess which of these four kids goes on to hate america enough to do violence" but then i read the text, and that kid died too.

  LOS ANGELES -- A judge Wednesday ordered the nation?s largest Roman Catholic archdiocese to surrender confidential records of two former priests as part of a clergy sex abuse investigation.
  
  Thomas F. Nuss, a retired state judge appointed to review church personnel records subpoenaed by a county grand jury, said the Archdiocese of Los Angeles cannot withhold potential evidence or proof of clerical sex abuse by claiming communications between priests and bishops are confidential.
  In weighing the balance between private personnel files and potential evidence of abuse, Nuss wrote in his 32-page ruling that the subpoenas don?t "have as a principal or primary effect the inhibition of religion."
  
  The judge delayed implementation of the ruling for 30 days to allow time for possible appeals. The archdiocese said it would challenge the ruling. A lawyer for the priests also said he expected to appeal.
  
  Prosecutors said the records could produce a paper trail of potential evidence involving the two former priests, who were not identified.
  
  Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley called the ruling "a major legal victory, with national implications, for victims of church sex abuse and a rejection of a so-called First Amendment ?confidentiality privilege? which the court found does not exist."
  
  Cooley said prosecutors have contended that "assertion of the pastoral privilege must give way to a more compelling interest. That interest is the prosecution of anyone, regardless of their status, who would molest children."
  
  Prosecutors subpoenaed about 2,000 pages of personnel files and other confidential church records since 2002. Most of those subpoenas were dismissed in July because they dealt with allegations that fell beyond the statute of limitations.

  The good samaritan and apostacy.

  there are so many examples of jw unkindness to df'd ones and apostates.

  one that really jumps out is one i've heard about a single df'd mother with small kids broken down outside a kh, and no one stopped to help her.. the jews and samaritans came from the same background.

  they had several different beliefs and the jews no doubt considered them apostate.

  The Friends?

  when i was a little dubbie we used the expression "the friends" to describe fellow dubbies.

  we would say things like "she's one of the friends," or ask questions like "is he one of the friends?

  is this terms still used in that fashion in dubland?

  A calm Iraq and What happened to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi???

  for a long time al-zarqawi was in the news regarding a string of major terrorist attacks in iraq... the us even put a $25 million dollar reward on his head.

  for the last month or so i have not heard peep about him.

  was he killed or captured and i did not see it in the news?.
