  hey guys,.

  the family and i just got back from seeing the movie.

  those of you who read the books will not be disappointed!

  Good morning all,

  Yes they left certain parts out of the movie that were in the book...if they hadn't the movie would have been 21 hours long?

  But as a whole, the movie follows the book very closely. It was so exciting seeing the imagination of Tolkien brought to life. I wonder if he would have liked to see the movie? And Legolas is one hot elf WOOHOO! I'd go live in a tree with him. Enjoy the movie gang...I can't wait for the next one, do you think they'll make us wait a whole year before they release the 2nd one? I hope not.

  The family and I just got back from seeing the movie. Those of you who read the books will not be disappointed!

  I would give it a 10 on a scale of 1-10. It is long though, almost 3 hours. But I liked it so much, and I feel there are details I may have missed, I think I will go see it again in a few weeks. Gosh it was great...that's all I will say for now!

  Need some help

  hello friends,.

  i am in a situation that i am really at a loss as to what to do.. basically, we have quit going to meetings.

  i really don't even want to be a part of the malarkey any longer.

  I am so sorry you and your son are dealing with this. So many of us have faced similar issues with relatives. Basically, they are showing your son very conditional love. If he is a good little boy, and goes to meetings and studies, he can still be accepted by them. Of course he resents that...any thinking person would. If you are able to explain to him what they are doing to him, it may help. Understanding something is the first step in dealing with it in a healthy way.

  As far as trying to reason with your parents, you of course are free to try that approach...I personally think it a waste of time. You will not be able to get a JW to reason on anything.

  As for your son, besides your support, it might be very beneficial for him to have therapy...or at the very least, speak to a doctor about symptoms of depression and possible treatments. Please do not overlook it and hope it will go away in time. The sooner he gets help, the better. It would also be great if you could encourage him to develop more friends through school...activities, sports, clubs...whatever he has an interest in. He needs to see that not everyone thinks like JW's, and that he can have friends who accept him the way he is. I wish you the best with this. We have three teenage boys, and they have all undergone therapy in the last 2 years. BEST thing we ever did for them...besides getting them out of the borg.

  What I've learned during the past year

  1. life can suck, so you either have to face it, or get out of the way.. 2. love heals anything and everything, end of discussion.. 3. people are amazing.. 4. some people piss me off.. 5. i piss some people off (and i enjoy doing it).. 6. god does not exist, but angels do.. 7. the most vulgar word in the english language is cancer.. 8. reality is just a frame of mind.. 9. fundies are people too, but for some reason they don't think i am a real person who is capable of love and true emotion, and i can't figure out why.. 10. current jw's are wacko and xjw's are even more wacko, but at least the xjw's make sense.

  (and i mean wacko in the nicest sense, at least for the xjw's :x ).

  Great post, your comments were short and to the point, but I found them very insightful. Especially your description of fundies and how they view others. I know this year was a very bad one for you, probably the worst you will ever have. But it brought you here to this board, and we had a chance to get to know you a little...and I for one am appreciative of that.

  My wish for you is that 2002 bring more healing...as the passing of time always does. That you find others to share your love and laughter...not to replace Jon, because no one ever can, but to remind you why it's good to be alive. That peace and good memories are what fill your home. I am glad your life experiences brought you to this board and gave us all a chance to meet you...and hopefully enrich your life in some small way as you have ours.

  Ginger or Mary Anne?

  no doubt one of the most ask questions ever.

  no matter what age you are (in my case fairly young), you've seen gilligan's island, and heard the inevitable argument (especially amoung men), who do you prefer better: ginger or mary anne.. well, i decided to bring the debate here to jw.com, see if there's an (ex) jw consensus on the issue.. my personal favourite is mary anne, by the way.

  they were both very attractive, but mary anne's personalty was more down to earth (or naive) to me, and i find that more desirable.

  Gee guys,

  I go away to work for a few hours and suddenly we've got referees, shoelace bikinis OUCH and now I have to hunt for my big paddle.
  Vacations are just getting too complicated these days.

  Xena, we can do the mud wrestling...the mud does not cause the ICK FACTOR, it is being in there at the same time as my sister.
  So, for that we will have to take turns. And bikini tops are optional, actually they're just a waste of cloth...but the bottoms are essential! Can't have that mud getting into unwanted places.
