You did a great job, keep this up. Maybe you should mention that the WTS is a supporter of human rights and these ideals include the right of everyone to be treated with dignity. Is she treating you with dignity? Also, everyone has the right to their own religious belief and the right to change their belief. Perhaps you should throw an Awake with its favorable view of human rights initiatives.

i'm in a quandry.. came out of the organisation a few years ago, have spend a couple of chilled out christmasses in front of the fire.
no presents, decorations etc, no problem!
but... my little boy is getting older and my ex-husband (my son's father and also an ex-jw) is concerned that he will miss out, just like we did as kids.. but, i am reluctant to do the whole christmas thing.
We are having Thanksgiving at our house but will be spending Christams with my wife's family up north. We had a wonderful time the last Christmas we spent with them. It was my first real Christmas (I had celebrated with my son before with a tree etc previously) but that time 2 years ago was wonderful. We opened Christmas presents on Christmas day in our nightclothes, had a roaring log fire, good food, lots to drink and to sample. On top of that there were two feet of snow on the ground. (We had to drive 160 miles in a blizzard on Christmas eve though, yuk) All my life I had seen happy Christmases portrayed in movies and such, but this was as close to that as I could have imagined.

To me it seems that the way the number of the remnant has not changed much in 20 years that there must be an awful lot of anointed in heaven not living up to the mark.
On a personal note, I either forgot or didn't realize who you were until recently. If you are from the Telford area do you know a Bro. Reid. His dad, old Bill Reid from Birmingham was of the anointed, his mum was not. I think the guy was also named Bill. He married Claire (Duke) about 15-20 years ago who had three horrible boys. Do you know who I mean?

Would you provide some references for the 144,000 now supposed to be in heaven before the big A. I thought this had flip-flopped a few times. Even so, the fact that the anointed are still around means the end is further off.
The other problem about the anointed is "who controls the organization?" The Watchtower has hinted that the GB may eventually (soon in a sooner sense?) be members of the other sheep. But will the 8700 anointed complain if that happens and they don't get interviews for the top jobs?

is the wtbts qualified to run your life for you?
lets take a look.. i was just musing over the threads that relate to disciplining children by means of physical punishment.
there is plenty of material in the societies magazines that advocate hitting children, in the 60s publications there is even a picture of a man spanking a child.

Well said and a good review of the WTS. They can't get their prophetic expctations right and they can't provide guidance for living without screwing up (themselves and us).

This is good news for the WTS. Afterall, a remnant of the annointed is expected to survive Armageddon. This means that the end, though soon, is not as soon as thought last year and hence the WTS can buy some more time.

proclaimers".
One other thing. The peak publishers (the most contrived figure by the WTS and good for manipulating the best high figure) increased by 82,102 on the last service year. In that time 263,000 converts were made.
That means 181,000 are missing from the ranks.

I haven't seen the figures and until they are published on line by the WTS I can't add them to my spreadsheet. It is interesting because the figures quoted here from the loyal dub are the best news.
Yet 263431 baptized is down 9% on last year and 19% on the 1999 service year.
It took 4438 hours of preaching to make a baptized convert. The average JW is doing 16.6 hours per month (includes pioneers) so it takes on average 22 years for the average JW to make a convert.
At 22 years each it would appear that children are the main source of baptized converts.

I seem to remember other dinosaurs in WTS publications of that era. Wasn't there dinosaurs in the old Paradise Lost book?
