i frequently read on this board that somebody has 'been a jw for over 25 years' and then learn that they are in fact 25 years and three days old.. i am very easily confused, in fact i actually got inside a car of similar color to my own recently and spent at least five minutes with a furrowed brow trying to force my car key into its ignition, fortunately, i realised my error before i was arrested.
so, just to humor me, can you all post how long you were/are baptised jw's?.
thank you -- hs.

daniel 8 for dummies - introduction: "the powers of the dark side" .
the two articles i'm going to present are going to be an indictment of fred william franz.
i consider franz to be the second most evil man in watchtower history, next to joseph franklin rutherford, if you measure the term "evil" not only by motive and action, but by the sheer numbers of people adversely affected from it.. when people were in his presence, franz's good sense of humor, apparent modesty and geeky way of dressing made him instantly likeable: up until the instant you crossed him or one of his interpretations, according to his nephew raymond franz.
Thanks Farkel,
I take it you managed to find this series or someone else had a copy. Have you lost anything else? It would be a great loss to us all as you have done some excellent research.

when jesus was on earth the devil approached him quoting scripture in order to tempt and entrap him.
it is no wonder then that the apostate angel would be behind the effort to use the scriptures against jehovahs people today in order to mislead them.
one of the most cunning and effective uses of scripture against us by satans agents is the charge that we are false prophets.
I haven't read all of this thread but it is funny how YK gets so much attention with his prophetic justifications. Both the Watchtower and You Know are false prophets in the Biblical or any normal sense of the words "prophet" and "false".
Two years ago on this day we watched the year's number roll-over to '00' from countries all around the world. For a lot of us we expected that we had done our jobs correctly and couldn't imagine much of an impact on world commerce because of the date problem. You Know was making his usuual predictions about the end of the world being imminent or at least the Great Tribulation starting. Come January 2 YK was back to making excuses such as the Y2K problem not being as big a problem as he had been led to believe.
So here we go again. YK has been around for half a decade now with his prophet's (false) hat on and still making excuses. Did he ever pay-up for the wager he lost in October?

interesting report from the recent elder's school.
thought you all might find it interesting.
here's a link:.
My favorite quote from the elder school:
Some women work outside of the home to elevate their standard of living. This way they develop their own sense of independence, and this can be very dangerous.
"This can be dangerous," true, sisters might find out that they are actually valuable, skilled and productive members of society and equal to if not better than the "brothers". I think this will go down well when elders start giving talks on women staying home to care for the family, going out in mid-week FS etc.

a question: does anyone know if the om book (organized to accomplish our ministry) is available on line.
i am particularly interested in the 80 questions and anything to do with elder ms qualifications.
i lost mine several years ago when i stripped down my library to a small number of books and the cd-rom.. i'd be willing to buy a hard copy and cover the shipping costs if anyone has a spare.. thanks,.
Ginny,
Thanks for the tip. I'll check out Randy's site and try and get one from there. I need to send Randy something any how in the way of some material support.
Jeffory,
I don't remember the additional questions. When did this addendum come out? Any chance you could scan the additional questions for me?
Scully,
The fourth answer, so they can baptize you at the end of 12 foot barge-pole.

just a little observation: have you noticed that the 'sisters' pictured in the magazines invariably wear long, long skirts?
check out the feb 1st issue.
even the housewife at the sink washing dishes has an ankle length skirt.
Mrs Thirdson reading over my shoulder noticed this thread. I told her that the if wore her little grey skirt to a Kingdom Hall she could get counseled. "That's ridiculous!" she said, "I wear that skirt to work and I work at a church! No one there ever says anything about my skirt." I replied, "you don't work with a bunch of judgmental pharisees."

i was reasearching something recently and reading the "secret elder manual".
i barely skimmed through this book when i had one and see it in a whole new light now.. this is the question the "flock" book tries to answer:.
what can elders do if a disfellowshipped person is hospitalized and facing the issue of blood transfusions?.

The answer:
Discretion should be used in determining what, if any,
assistance might be given on a humanitarian basis to those
not having a good standing in the congregation. For example, if a disfellowshipped one takes a firm
stand on the blood issue, local elders or the Hospital
Liaison Committee could share information with the
family out of consideration for those faithful ones.
PAY ATTENTION TO YOURSELVES AND TO ALL THE FLOCK Unit 1b
In other words if you are a DF'd person you are screwed. If you have a blood transfusion your chances of getting back in the JWs just drops off the scale. If you refuse you may die, may not get a JW funeral, may not get a resurection and won't get any help, humanitarian, pastoral or HLC assistance from the local JW elders. If however, you have a JW spouse who pleads and cries to the elders then for his/her sake, not yours they might request HLC assistance.
I think the word "humanitarian" means something different in the Watchtower world. It's just amazing the things the Watchtower commits to paper.

i have been very busy lately but i had to stop for a few and write this.. it is beyond me why the wts has the need to not only lie but to keep making stuff up as they go along.
the latest being an experience related to the jws at my local hall (a friend of mine who still goes told me).
was visiting this week and related the following account:.
I'll see what I can find out.
The company I work for donated the ID card making equipment for tagging the workers in the week following September 11. These desk top units, printer, PC and video camera are used in hospitals (for example...as seen on ER, which was donated equipment too for cheap advertizing) to produce a plastic card with a persons name, photograph and some data on the mag stripe.
