To me the Catholic church is facing heavier "persecution" in the media and the courts. In Watchtower logic that must mean that the Roman Catholic church is the true religion.

troubled by reports of the very problems that were supposed to be only the mark of false religions peadophilia (and hiding it) and hypocrisy (supporting the un) many honest hearted jws, it seems, have slowed down their meeting attendance and field ministry.
what has the society done to calm these very real worries concerning actual, not imagined, problems.. .
simple.
To me the Catholic church is facing heavier "persecution" in the media and the courts. In Watchtower logic that must mean that the Roman Catholic church is the true religion.

i changed my question to this: .
what nice biblical name would you give your child, and what was the ugliest biblical name you ever heard a witness give to his child?edited by - jh on 18 january 2003 12:3:36.
Since you changed the question, I'd better change my answer.
I didn't intend to give my son Biblical names. He has an old Saxon name as a first name and a Greek name for his middle, although that name appears in the Bible. He is named after a famous actor; not that I liked the actor but liked the name. The middle name was from a friend.
I knew a JW who wanted to name his first kid Maher-shalal-hash-baz. My dad talked him out of it. ("Think about what he'd face at school," he said.)

yesterday on i-95,the most " sudden kind of death " occurred.three young yale students were killed at 5:00 am when their suv slammed into a tractor trailer that had itself crashed earlier.. the college dean, richard brodhead told about 400 students, faculty and staff that the accident was "the most sudden kind of death".. he went on to say,"we learn by the time we are 3 or 4 years old that humans are not supposed to live forever.. were you, aware at 3 or 4 years of age, that humans are not supposed to live forever?what was the earliest age that you can recall being aware of death and when did you start to think that humans are not supposed to live forever as the dean expressed to the 400 students, faculty and staff members.. my own memories go back as far as about 3 or 4 years of age when our house was on fire and i was wakened out of my sleep in the middle of the night by a fireman who saved my life.
blueblades.
My earliest memories are when I was 2 years and 8 months old. I remember a number of separate events, (one traumatic at least to a two year old) that happened at the time my one younger brother (Fourthson) was born (Feb 7, 1963).
When I was four our next-door neighbor died. She was my mom's best friend and was always round at our house. I only have the vaguest memory of what she looked like from one event. I do remember the shock of the time when another neighbor knocked on the door to tell us what had happened and I remember the ambulance outside our house. The neighbor died leaving her husband to care for their two preteen (one may have been a teenager, I don't remember). She died in her sleep of a brain hemorrhage and I guess she was in her mid to late 30's.
I knew from that age that people die. I knew people died and were buried in the ground just like our pets died and were buried in the backyard. However, I didn't think I was going to die ever, I didn't think my parents would die either. We were all going to to enter the New System sometime in the 1970s and I wouldn't even have to finish school. It took a long time for that childhood delusion to go away.

ok guys, .
i know you know what i'm talking about.. what was the funniest comment you heard from the audience during a study where the brother or sister used their comment as as platform to counsel the elders..
In one congregation I attended, the Watchtower conductor was notorious for going over time, frequently taking an hour an 10 minutes to complete the study (songs excluded). During a service meeting item on meeting quality and the like this same elder, covering the KM item, commented on how the brothers conducting meeting assignments must be careful about keeping to time, whereupon there was a loud clearing of throats by nearly everyone in the congregation. Said elder looked really shocked but he got the message, at least for a while.

its got to be rage against the machine, "killing in the name of" .
just had the bassline to this song rumbling through my head, havent heard it for ages though .
you need to know the chorus.
Talking Heads - Road To Nowhere
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
and it's all right, baby, it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right
We're on a road to nowhere

Farkel,
That would be great. The name seems right, I think it is Geraldi, and wasn't he from San Fransico? (which was the link to my friend the church music director.) Last time I heard the "Charlie Brown" theme it was played in a Catholic church.
I look forward to your version.
Thanks and regards,

Farkel,
Wonderful!!!! I played it a dozen times last night. Loved "dub sticks" too, all we need is Paula Abdul to choreographic it.

P.S. Have you ever played the "Charlie Brown" theme? I forget (OK, I don't know) the proper title. A good friend of mine played it at a concert to celebrate his 50th birthday... it took until then to really appreciate it.
there i was sitting down thinking about nothing then a lump appeared in my trousers,ow no i mouthed no,.
just then i heard in the distance a brother say and now the song number will be ???????
i was in agony, no no i pleaded with myself nice thoughts nice thoughts,i squeezed him but he wouldnot go down, i pinched my hands and still no luck, everyone else was watching me ,as i was the only one sitting with my hands claspedacross my lap,.
I never understood as a teenager why it always happened about 5 minutes before the end of the public talk or during the number 5 talk (we had 5 in the olden days) of the TMS. I'd spend that time interval thinking things that would make it go down, with varying success.
It didn't help that meetings often contained details about sex, not that I undestood a lot. I remember a talk at a DC in 1971. We were in Ballarat, Vic, Australia and I think it was an evening session. The talk, another one on sex and dating etc, described how a pioneer brother and sister were alone in a car and they fondled each other's private parts. Sitting there, aged 11, and knowing very little, I imagined they felt each others buttocks. I thought it was very kinky. It obviously made a huge impression (mental only) as I remember it to this day.
It's a wonder I grew up to be normal...although judging by the spam e-mail I get a lot of people think I am abnormal.

I sometimes get a little infuriated with the frequent need to know what your ancestry is or what "race" you are. My son is more "black" than Tiger Woods, but he looks Caucasian. On the US census I put down that he is "white", because that is how others perceive him, (he does get a really good tan in the summer while hanging around at the local beach). Compatibility is more than the color of skin and more than simply our culture.
Two things have influenced my views for the good...in my opinion: Being brought up as a JW, in a mixed racial environment and going to school at a formative age in a multi-racial community. (Being white (like me) was a minority, but there was no majority racial group either.)
As you may have gathered, I married someone of mixed race. I remarried a little over two years ago and Mrs. Thirdson is of my racial group although culturally we are more different than my ex and me although British and American culture are not that far apart.
Coincidentally, the three of us (Mr & Mrs Thirdson and son of Thirdson) we were discussing racial issues, school desegregation and the civil rights movement over dinner today.

noah: good morning!
my name is noah and i'm calling.... householder: ( interrupting) look, make it quick, will you pal,i'm busy eating and drinking.. noah: well,i'll be brief then.
i'm calling on you and your neighbors to discuss world conditions.
Judging by the vast increase Noah manged in 120 years I guess it went more like this:
Very gentle tap at the door.
Noah - (whispering) I don't think anyone is home, let's wait a few minutes.
Ten minutes later
Ham - I don't think anyone is home.
Noah - Perhaps not. Do you fancy a donut?
Ham - Sure
Noah - I think we'll meet up with your brothers, stop off for a donut and coffee and then we'll head back to the quick build.
