Hello Everyone . . .(Questions)

this is my first post here, though i have been browsing these forums over the last week for more than a few hours.

in the interest of full discloser, well as much as anyone would on a public forum, i?ll tell you about me.

i was raised as a witness, and have no real horror stories to tell.

I have to go along with what jwbot said. It is not just leaving a religion. Jws don't make it that way. They punish you with shunning - sometimes with some hostility. Since you've been DF'd, how are you doing with your friends and family who are still jws?

As you said no body is perfect. But if they, the WTS, truly believe that, they should apply that rule to other groups as well. Whenever other religious group or members make a mistake, why do they jump on to say, "See. That's why they are false religions"? And whenever they screw up, it is because they are not perfect, and everyone has to forgive and forget. And the WTS is claiming that they are the only annointed one by God Almighty.

Hmm.....The only annointed one who didn't know that it is OK to go to college for Christians?

The only annointed one who thought they knew better than Jesus and told the world that 1975 would be the yearArmaggedon.

I can go on and on. Yes, I hate this lying cult that destroys families. This forum is more like a support group meeting. Without it we probably would have gone mad. Jehovah's Witnesses almost destroyed my belief in God. I am still trying to believe in God.

If you are having a great life as a DF'd pro-witnesses, good for you. But never criticize people here, who are seeking for support and help. That is just not healthy for anyone.

this is something that has always bothered me and now i can see what a deception it was.

a jw woman studied with me on and off for about 3 years before i got baptized.

eventually i got baptized at a weaker moment in my life (suffering from major post partum depression) you don't want your child to die at the big a do you?-- was one line of thinking that was used on me.. the deception was this: during the time i was studying she never told me the truth about the whole unbelieving mate situation, though i specifically asked what would happen to my mate if the big a came and he never became a joe witness--?

I may have thought twice about the whole deal if they would've told me their attitude towards those on the outside. I had "worldly" friends and they never told me I would have to drop those when I became a JW either. They never told me that the religion really taught that everyone who I have ever loved in my life would be slaughtered by God in the end They hid a lot of things from me or covered them over and I found out later it was too late (or so I was lead to believe--you have to live up to your dedication, right?).

Yup. Same here. I wanted a wholesome and decent life. But I ended up getting closed and very cult like life that drove me to depression. The witnesses don't want to say the whole truth. Otherwise they wouldn't get any new member. When I asked them about 1975 fiesco, they told me it was just among "a few brothers" and they said that the society never engaged in such thought. Yeah, right. When I confronted them with a proof, they then said that I should change my view point. What a bunch of lying hypocrates!

i plan to call up the branch office and pose as an 'interested one' and ask a bunch of difficult questions i am almost positive no jw witness will be able to ansewr.

1. if the supposed "light is getting brighter" then does that not mean that it is possile that many of the teachings that the society is teaching now may be false such as blood transfusions and the 1914 teaching?

2. since any witness who speaks against the wt and refutes one of their teachings and is therefore disfellowshipped for it, what if the very teaching that they spoke against turned out to be wrong later on?

I have one! Why do they so worry about offending anyone by sisters wearing pants suits at the meetings when they keep guilty molesters in the organization?

Another one! Why do they say that they don't shun the people who "simply left the organization" to the media, and tell otherwise to the followers?

its funny how when you are someone who has grown up a jw you take everything you read in the wt and awakes as fact.

you are never taught to discern or analyze what you read.

and when the society speaks of 'doing research is always in the bond volumes or other lit.

Sorry. I couldn't read all your posts. Red letters make my eyes sore. One thing I remember is that when I was a jw, they said we should emphasize Jesus death, but not as much on his resurrection. They said it was one of the reasons why they don't have their own version of Easter.

Those who came into the org as adults . . . well . . . I just don't know. There are lots of reasons, I suppose, based on what I have read here on this forum.

Well, I began studying to be a jw when I was 21, and got baptized 2 years later. What can I say? I was just so naive and stupid. I just trusted them. I was partially grew up as a jw because my mom was and is a jw. I just believed whatever they said, and didn't listen to the criticism from outside. Why? Because the jws told me, "They are all evil apostates and lies." I was such a pushover.

On Shunning

the command of men to practice shunning is cruel and heartless, as we all know.

it tears people up from the heart and hurts everyone involved.. the rigidity and "uptightness" of believing that only you have the "right way" to god, and that being warm and cordial to someone who has left your religion, or attending another church service is going to "cost you" (god will getcha for that---or the elders will) in some way....is so self-limiting.. we all have the right to the pursuit of happiness and to find a faith that renews and motivates us to be our best.

being humans and experiencing growth all the while we are "here", what may be just the "ticket" for us personally at one stage in our life---may not fulfill the same needs a number of years later.. it is not fair that a belief system ( or religious leaders) rather than being a comfort or a teacher any longer, should have the right to keep a "hold" on any person because they choose to move on to another form of worship to the same god.. this flies in the face of what we hold dear in this country and in most others, being forever captive to men who believe that they have the right or the power to penalize ones for the rest of their lives for walking away from their religion.

How do we protect the abuser?

So your saying that there are convicted molesters still serving as Elders and MS in the Congergations? Can you prove this?

???? Do you have a copy of the letter that the society sent out 2 years ago regarding this? It clearly says that they were found guilty. But since they did that a long time ago , the society wants to forget about it. Not to mention keeping it secret from the congregation. Or better yet go to www.silentlambs.org. They have a copy of both Dateline and Panorama. Panorama is a British version of Dateline. In the Dateline you will see 3 cases. All three of them were still going door to door even though they were found guilty of molestation. I understand that one of them was disfellowshipped for sodomizing his own grandchildren. But he got reinstated and knocking at the neighbors' doors. Similar stories go to the other two as well. They, the elders and the society, knew it, but hushed. Not to mention making the victims silent. In the Dateline you'll see one of them going to jail. When I told my mom, who is a jw, she didn't believe it. She said that it is fake. "They are all the apostate actors pretending to be jws", she said. Apparently later she found out the truth. They weren't apostates! They were the victims crying for justice. Without Silentlambs.org it wouldn't be possible to bring justice for those victims. Oh, by the way, the elders in my former congregation said that if it is not required by the State law, they don't report to police about the abuse. And if that pedo comes to our hall, no one would know his past except for the elders who are told (by the society) to keep it secret. Maybe you should ask your elders if they are going to let you know or let other common publishers know if a pedophile brother moves in to your hall. Watchtower is notorious on chaging their policies and beliefs. Maybe they changed last 2 years. I hope.
