What Was Your Opinion of Elder's Wives?

i think that many of them were saints.

some were bitches and others seemed like they hated their status.

many wives were very good examples and were more "qualified" than their elder husbands.. .

have known many elderettes (!)...over the years. Many were fine examples of caring approachable and modest ladies....sincere kind words flowed from them....but I have to say I've known a few badge holders...who lorded (ladied?) it over other women in the cong. One such elderette of a recently appointed elder is to put it bluntly an airhead. She is known in our village as a dolly bird as she is always overdressed and talks incessantly about how much she paid for clothes etc etc...with no regard for others of lesser means...The widow of a deceased elder conversely has always been a kind lady and never boasted about her husband being an elder...so yes, there are many types of elder's wives....as there are also elders too,,

Service meeting video....what a non-event

at our service meeting we saw the video of a jw explaining his beliefs about 1914.. it was.....well, "underwhelming" does not do it justice.

what is below "underwhelming"?

..with twaddle like that being presented as doctrine it can only be a matter of time before the whole shenanigans implodes....when I was 'in' I questioned it, reasoned on it, discussed it..etc ....because I wanted to believe only what I chose to believe...based on sound reasoning..but now...utter twaddle....

9 years old..baptized?....tantamount to female genital mutilation...both actions are overriding individual choice...both actions are types of abuse...how can a nine year old fully comprehend the commitment of a decision....a contract no less....it matters because if/when the child leaves by choice they will then suffer shunning etc etc etc.....

Watchtower circulation jumps up!

the jan. 1, 2015 w shows an updated printing of 52,946,000 copies each issue in 228 languages.. this is an increase of 7,002,000 copies per issue over last year, this is the biggest increase i have seen in the printing of the w per issue for any one year.

thus, including the study edition over 70 million copies of the w are now being printed each month.. .

i wonder if awake!

in my area I have seen copies dumped in local trash bins just yards from the trolley brigade....

..in hindsight i wish that I had stood up during a public talk or the watchtower bible study and just exclaimed/said' this is rubbish!'..and then just walked out of the hall.....perhaps others would then have followed in due course...those who fade as has been said risk exclusion by family and friends...as they are perceived as weak..'not of our sort' as the well worn phrase goes..

this cult is getting really shameless.

the wt study was always supposed to be for discussion of 'the deep truths' of the bible.

the wt may have always been filled with utter nonsense, but at least it had the appearance of a topical discussion of bible doctrine.

when i was a literature servant a few years ago i made a point of placing tracts in prominent view on a display rack i had made. i always referred to the tracts as little bullets and spiritual handshakes as they were ideal for getting points home in brief and without the bumf of the mags....i would not be surprised if tracts eventually replace to some degree the mags.....as tracts can be adapted to news and world events easier..incidentally in the latest wt mags the inside cover blurb which used to announce the kingdome..and....point to the soon to be kingdom..now is reduced to a small bland paragraph...

interesting....because the message people get at armageddon is more likely to be 100% accurate rather than the muddled blend of old/new light being preached now...
