  i went to my very first christmas party since i got stupid and got baptised a few years ago.

  i wasn't sure what to expect, after all these pagans are capable of anything, right?

  sooo i put on clean underware, just in case nudity or sex was involved.

  1. argue with a six year old.. ever had a deep discussion with a six year old (or someone with a three year old's mentality)?

  ever heard two six year old's arguing?.

  typically it turns to name calling and "i know you are but what am i" exchanges fairly rapidly.. would we walk up to a 6 year old or a mentally challenged adult and engage in one of these ridiculous, non-productive and demoralizing exchanges?.

  I am very happy for you,that you have found peace.
  My point is let others find theirs,on their own. I have peace as well,and the height of tolerance would be to realize it doesn't come from just the judeo-christian path.
  I wouldn't talk about Mike's agenda as yours is clearly to pull others to your particular christian slant/view.
  There are some very balanced christians on board here. Andi and yeru come to mind. They seem to be confident and sure in their belief,so much so,they dont need to preach to anyone. That's where you differ.
  There are lots of folk,non-beleivers here of high moral standards,inner peace. You won't notice it because it doesn't mesh w/ your definition of peace. Tina

  FELLOWSHIP

  i've been reading lots of messages in just a few days of logging on to this site and have to say that in the beginning it was bothering me to still be doing the jw thing.

  i dropped out after 25 years, the last 14 as an elder.

  now, however, i'm beginning to realize that the posts have been giving me a feeling of fellowship with many people who have gone/are going through experiences similar to mine, a kind of fellowship that i rarely if ever felt being among other jw's.

  Having once been believers,all we suggest is to take time,think about the soap product first! Do some research,get some scientific foundation,look into the history and context of the times these tenets were produced.
  Basically make an informed decision,and not jump the gun and buy the 'new and improved brand of soap called Utopia'.

  I take issue with that statement of yours. There is something highly unethical about fundys like you trolling for converts on boards such as these.
  People like you take advantage of newly leaving cult members.
  You take advantage of their confusion ,vulnerability and shaken worldview before they have time to regain clarity of thought. You offer another salvation sale package to those who may not even have made the journey into real healing,researching the premises they once lived by.
  You offer the same old stuff,just different verbiage. And one as rigid and narrow that they came from per your posts,'overstep boundaries',' not agreeing with different beliefs and lifestyles'.
  I'm all for moderates in religions,like I said,I find your method of culling the herd quite questionable.T

  Why the bible does'nt make sense to me

  for some odd reason this morning when i woke up the first thing that came into my mind was the suffering and pain that humans deal with on a daily basis.

  again i'm not really sure what made me think about that so early in the morning.

  (maybe it was a dream i had).

  That's the problem,people have taken allegory,metaphor,myth archaic tribal law and have attempted to legislate humanity and its characteristics by it by portraying it literally.
  Taken in the context of the times it was written is akin to Zeus,Osiris and other mythical stories that attempt to explain these 'mysteries'. All the ancient dieties are grounded in fear hero vs. enemy, and social control to define acceptable and unacceptable. Enjoyed your thoughts,Tina

  Diversity rocks!! I get invited to the first meal, it's colleagues and friends who are mostly agnostics themselves (some outright atheists)lol. It's just tradtion.I know you understand that,but splained it for those who dont get out enough among other peoples and traditions.
