I studied that book hard for the ministry. I remember giving talks out of it also. What a waste of time.

The Reasoning Book
by Magnum inthe book reasoning from the scriptures was released in the 1980's, and it was used at virtually every meeting for service, every service meeting, and every theocratic ministry school meeting thereafter.
many jws had copies bound together with their bibles.
it was huge in jw land back then.. at that time, with the reasoning book, jws were trained to keep conversations going in spite of objections, to almost stick their feet in people's doors to keep conversations going, to defend "the truth," to argue doctrine, etc.. compare the situation today with that of the 80's.

Fading is better then completely leaving...comments?
by Witness 007 ini got the internet in my house and realised it's all lies....but as a pioneer/ministerial servant i chose to fade.
see i had family and friends who were fully strict witnesses.
so i played the poor lost soul brother who is not sure what's happening.

Hate to break it to you but no matter what you do, you are never really free of it. That is if you fade, disassociate, get disfellowshipped you will always have effects. The question comes down to what effects can you deal with better than the others. That's a very personal calculation.

Regarding the recommended apologies a couple pages back.........Those would be fantastic apologies but of course they won't happen. When I was exiting years ago I brought up a similar idea to an elder who had been at bethel for years. He said, 'the society wouldn't be able to make an apology like that because they would lose respect '. To which I said I felt the opposite was true.

A Modest proposal to solve the 1914 problem
by r51785 inthroughout watchtower history dates have been a problem.
the usual solution for failed prophetic dates has been to kick the can down the road.
this needs to be done with 1914. the generation that will never pass away is now 110 years old and therefore is past its useful life span.

All this chronology is messy. All they have to do is say the last days are a period of time. A time that started in 33 at Pentecost. The Church age or Age of Grace. In their case, they can call it the Period of Undeserved Kindness. ๐

We can only hope it opens minds for alot of people. The beard ban was always non essential to being a Christian. A major overstep and distraction like many other rules.

Complain when we couldn't have facial hair, complain and make fun when it is allowed. This group is not reformable apparently.

Even with recent changes itโs a struggle to get people to attend
by hoser inthe kingdom hall is still empty.
even with amalgamation of 2 congregations.
the elders are handling the microphones and there was only one comment from zoom at the watchtower.

Yeah, I'm skeptical about all the empty halls also. Maybe in some places but not in others. The hall by me seems to have a full parking lot when I drive by. They did get rid of one of the old buildings in the area but they still have a few congregations they just meet in one hall. That seems like a good move honestly.
