can i call you friends, i think so after 23 years posting here.

i am dismayed how jwn is being "dominated" or taken over by a few posters, peppering the comments.

in the past, the admin did not approve of this and did remove some posters from jwn.

I don't believe this forum should be used to promote beliefs either. Meaning specific christian beliefs, buddhist, hindu or any other philosophy humanist, atheist or otherwise. We should share information and share where we are at this point in time as part of our journey out but not in a promoting way.

However, too often on this forum people are simply disrespectful and have an agenda as to why they are posting. The only agenda here should be support to those leaving to find their own way, sharing the history of Jehovahs Witnesses and updates on current Jehovahs witness activity/beliefs.

this isn't a transcript of his whole speech but i thought i would try and get some of his main speech in writing.. at around 1hr26 minutes he starts talking about some dangerous thinking in feeling there is some wiggle room in regards to the schedule for the gt.

but you see, we need to be careful about what we are thinking about the number of anointed ones left on earth.

Education video this midweeks meeting

there is an item this week all about yang ones leaving school.. the two brothers go to a career advisor seminar.

one brother thinks it’s good to work hard full time while you are young and tries to encourage his friend to as well.. his friend (who is the good jw trust the gb no matter what they say)) he wants a part time job.. the video shows him dreaming about investing his money on his phone and the chart goes up, he drives a nice car and seems to be doing well financially.. then he reads the scripture in proverbs and next you see that investment chart go down in the red and he is so pleased he just got a low paid part time job.. this infuriates me.

how many of us are now struggling because we were told to get menial part time jobs and we were told the end would have been here by now.. i will never tell a young person to listen to the gb advice on this.

Agreed that the Bible gives good advice on working hard and investing in our future. Also, getting enjoyment from our hard work and the fruits of our labor.

The JW advice is completely different and unwise.

from the earliest of times of the catholic church's ecumenical councils were used to make major changes to its doctrinal direction.

decisions were made by bishops, they were ratified by the pope ... and it was done.

and the laity had to accepted them or not.. and while splinter catholic religions accepted most of these councils, non-trinitarian faiths which developed latter (of which jehovah's witnesses are apart) did not.

Are you saying Jehovahs witnesses believe Ecumenical councils simply debated and voted without praying and searching scripture?

Does the governing body ever debate before making decisions?

Yeah, that's definitely a lie. I have heard a couple individual JWs have that understanding but my family certainly has not understood it that way. If what he said was true I really wouldn't have such a problem with it.
