No apologies: you get it right... Feelings/opinions put aside, as long as the system is that registered belief communities could be provided with government support based on tax revenues being paid back, all organizations should be trated the same as long as they are registered...
Besty: in Norway, e.g. the Human Ethic Federation gets monetary support for their close to 70,000 members.. in line with religious belief communities.

Well, although I am being shunned by my family because of the organizations policies and have lost all my former friends because of disagreeing, I refuse to see everything black and white.
I do see that that the community benefits from the societys teaching illiterates to read, rebuild homes and helping in disaster although it is primarily their own, that frees labor to be used to help non-witnesses, some people (who have been drug addicts, criminals etc) do change their lives for the better, thus benefitting society at large.
But: I do wish the organization of JWs would do more to help society as such, but that is not their agenda, believing the end of the world is imminent their activities are primarly directed at helping people to achieve spiritual goals (as seen by the WTS)...

It is strange that so many exJWs seem to continue the black and white thinking they once detested.

I guess it is more fair to state that whatever each tax payer pays goes back to the community that individual belongs to...
Quite a lot of the Swedish watchtower surplus is being sent out of the country....

Inasmuch as I disagree with the Watchtoer society, I am in favor of giving them the same rights as other belief communities as long as they are registered and accepted as such. That is a matter of principle.

BTW. JWs have received governmental support (actually the government pays the same amount per member to all registered belief communities as they do to the State Church, so it is a kind of tax being paid back to the religious community) in Norway for many years...

I and some other teenagers once complained about elders drinking too much... Result: we are threatened with DF if speaking about it.... The wife of one elder did not speak to me for half a year
I pointed out to an elder that having champagne breakfasts was improper (Yes, I suppose I was overly righteous)... ;-)
I scorned an elder stating that I was happy not being brought up as a child within the JWs while I was an elder myself (got bad conscious and apologised to the PO for stating this)... He had the guts to state that us having babies/small kids could not feed them during the meeting cause it was written in a Kingdom Ministry article that it was improper to eat and drink during a meeting. I was furiously mad at him.

Some have said that a country might be judged on how they view human rights on how they treat JWs...
I guess the treatment fits russia pretty well.. Because human rights are not held in such a high esteem there.
