I do not agree.
An elder I know got a medal for saving his neighbour in a fire. It was in the front page in the regional newspaper... He said he followed his instincts and just did what everybody would have done in such a situation...

DVD "JW's Faith In Action, part 1 Out of Darkness" Omits! Omits! Omits!
by Wasanelder Once ini've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.
i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.
you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Did you ever feel let down by the Bethel tour?
by maninthemiddle inreading jeff's thread about dress made me think of my one and only trip to bethel.. i can't remember if i was babtised at the time, but i went with a bus load of jws.. like someone said in the last thread, printing presses and empty rooms.
i was very disapointed, however i don't think i had any pre-concieved notions of what it would be like.
what i was diapointed in was so much of the "tour" was walking hallways looking at exhibits behind glass.

Sweden: went as part of a bus tour. Was very nice, impressed by all the marble (not that common in Scandinavia)
Denmark: very nice tour with friends.
Germany: huge, impressive. Very clean, modern. Kingdom Hall, nice architecture. Remember a small signboard giving the weekly times on visits from dentist, psychiatrist and doctor.
France. (Old one at Boulogne-Billancourt): Friendly, but somewhat untidy and outdated.
Great Britain: A bit old-fashioned
Italy: nice, friendly staff - were allowed to tour it in bermuda shorts and t-short
Greece: very nice, got wine and fish for lunch when I came unsuspectedly. The brothers played volleyball in the garden.
Kenya. a bit old, was toured by Mark Noumair in jeans. Remember some African brothers had their family living in compounds close by.
USA: huge, impressive, but rather old-fashioned by European standards.
Austria: once in the 80s and then later on after re-decoration. Remember the ugly curtains from the reception on the first visit being re-used as draping something in a closet that was opened when I was there. Funny
Netherlands: nice, modern, were invited for coffee to some of the workers.
Barbados: small, like a family home. Very nice brother showing us around. Warning us gently when he heard we were going to Jolly Roger (an excursion with a lot of booze - we did not indulge in the drinking though).
Norway: nice Bethal in quiet surroundings.
And all had the same system when it came to washing...

Odd place for an assemblyIn
by InquiryMan inin the african country of lesotho, one of the two assemblies will take place in "holy trinity hall".
witnesses can be quite pragmatic.
remember we had to rent room in a community building for our kingdom hall... it was fun when they talked about the paganism of christmas and a christmas three was placed in the corner.. i wonder if witnesses have deposits in the banco espirito santo... .

banco espirito santo means: Bank of the Holy Spirit.
I intended the post to be somewhat ironic/humerous.
