OK, I'll attack the "message" as it were. To start thing off, I won't attack the Christian scriptures, but "old testament".

What say you that the Hebrew scriptures are actual a very detail-poor rendition of much earlier texts, such as Babylonian, Assyrian, and Sumerian? Do you deny this? If you don't, then you must accepted much more in history than the bible can provide. You must accept that Elohim is more than one God at the very least. If you do deny it, than your God has kept a major chunk of history from you, or you didn't look beyond the bible. And, if THAT is the case, you are very ignorant.

is their new corporate structure.

there is no question in my mind that this is due to the present and future lawsuits on the horizon.

The doublespeak from the WTS continues. Everything they say has to take into account the lies and coverups. They have to make changes in ambiguous ways in order to not upset the sheep. Unfortunately, most of the sheep aren't paying attention.

this is in response to a question asked by martini on the thread reflections, page 4. for those who have not read it, the question is: is it true that the israelites were historically jehovah's chosen people...the israelites make the wts with all it's "warts" look like saints... or are we to deduce from this that jehovah is the kind of god that could accept and work with such wayward people today as he did in the past?

my response was, in a nutshell: yes, the israelites were gods chosen people.

About Martini's question, and Frenchy's nutshell summation, my opinion is this; assuming we believe and have faith in the bible, the WTS in no way can lay claim to be God's chosen representative. Forget all the books written against the WTS. The answers are here for us in this thread. According to AhHah's post:

Path, I believe this to be the case. The WTS would be included in the apostasy from Christ. This brings us back to the question; who are God's covenant people?

Starting a band

i've been toying with the thought of starting a band.

so far it's a one-man band, for i know few in the music world where i live.

what i want to do is purchase a mixer so i can edit my own bass, drum and guitar tracts.

I just mispelled Apostasy, I guess.(did I mispell mispelled?)

Some of the musicians/bands that influence me are Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Megadeth, Metallica, Ministry, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Godsmack, Black Sabbath, among many more.

I know what you mean about the chord progression thing. When I'm playing new music that has a similar sound, sometimes I'll merge parts of both to make one song, otherwise I'll change it or scrap it and start over. I've developed several guitar instrumentals so far, but have not written them down or named them yet. I can't sing very well, so I don't try.

The guitars I have are a Fender strat and a Samick Gibson style(in the photo). I tend to favor the Samick. It has a light,thin body, and I like the dual coil setup. It looks like a black devil with two short horns of equal length. The guitars are plugged into a Korg multi-effects pedal and a DOD "Grunge" fuzz box, which plugs into a Fender amp. Just got back into the guitar last year. My hiatus during Jdubdom made me loose precious years of playing.

I've been toying with the thought of starting a band. So far it's a one-man band, for I know few in the music world where I live. What I want to do is purchase a mixer so I can edit my own bass, drum and guitar tracts. I may include some trumpet and violin tracts from my kids. They are pretty good musicians themselves. The equipment has a zip drive that can be downloaded to my computer, where I can then burn cd's.

The band will be called "Apostacy". The music I tend to play is hard rock/jazz fusion. Any ideas or thoughts are welcome.

it seems that most on this forum are deep thinkers.

there is much agonizing over the experiences each one has had.

there was trauma, crisis' of conscience, terrible things seen and done.

Thanks for those thoughts. As you say, "Fear is generally a much stronger motivator for the immature than love". I agree. I'm sincerely trying to use love as a motivator these days. Why, we just added a 15 year old girl to our family because of her deadbeat parents. It's not that I have loads of extra cash laying around to be able to do this. My wife and I felt that it was the right thing to do. She would still be on the streets if we didn't take her in. She's actually starting to progress, I believe. She's back in school, and doing well. She's got adults around her that she can trust now, and my kids get along with her well.
