One helluva fantastic show! I've been fans of these guys since the mid-70's. Incredible performance for an all-original band that's been together for over 30 years.

there have been a couple of postings lately about long assemblies.. does anyone remember these, or maybe even attended them?.
i was just a young child in the early 70's and something tells me i remember a long assembly, but don't remember if it was 8 days.. how long were they exactly, and what times.
what the hell did they talk about???.
Well, at this rate, with FS hours going down, assembly days being widdled down, 'hovahs will have no more FS OR assemblies to go to. YAAAAY!

well, all i can say is wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they have been preparing everyone by way on tv and radio on the sexual abuse in the jw religion.
they had a small piece on the 6 o'clock news with a small interview with bill bowen.
Bend over and grab your ankles, Watchtower. It's time for some of your own medicine.

DAMN! Those guys BAKED FOR NEARLY 3 HOURS!

there seemed to be one or two of these in every hall with which i was associated.
usually a married couple.
one of whom was handicapped in some way.
how many meetings a week, do you think we should have had in order to be reasonable and not overdone?
maybe 30 or 40 years ago, when woman didnt work, or when life was a little easier, that all these meetings every 2 days was ok, but today with life being so stressful, and with all the time it takes commuting, is it normal to still have so many meetings.
nothing changed in the last 50 years as far as meetings go.
The fact is, 'hovahs that go to fewer meetings are less "spiritual"(tm) than the WTS would like. Look at all the people on this forum that are doing the "slow fade". They're weaning themselves off of the WT teat, so to speak.
Good comments, people.

caught inbetween the wt doctrine and being "worldly", x 'hovahs live a strange life indeed.
sampling what the world has to offer, yet remaing loyal to wt doctrine is the dichotomy that is the loyal x 'hovah.. my friend, let's call him "gomer", is such a person.
undoubtedly bothered by this situation, gomer refuses to delve into the world of the truth about the "truth".
My term for this is Pergatory-ex
Perfect! Sounds more x-filish than "Gomerville". But then, "Gomerville" denotes the stupidity in which we subject ourselves to.

i have small children.
i was raised a witness, so i never celebrated holidays.
now, i don't go to meetings, don't agree that the watchtower is jehovahs sole channel of communication.
I sure hope my kids don't get that mentality. Thats something I thought of doing, but not with gifts. Probably have them spend some time volunteering when they get bigger in an elderly home, etc. So that they know it is important to care for others.
Excellent.

Red,
The ultimate "blow" came when I read the list of cult characteristics that is listed on the freedomofmind site. I felt as if someone had literally punched me, its impact was so great.
Ain't it the truth, LOL! I mean really, it knocks the wind right out of you when these things are found out. A major impact, indeed! When your world is rocked by the revelation that the religion you believed to be the truth is exposed with all of it's ugly entrails hanging out, it tends to throw one for a loop.

Musky,
Celebrate! It's fun! You could start out my making a tradition of the kids giving to others less fortunate, so that they don't get too into the "what am I gonna get" mentality.
