Online romances ruiner?
by Kingpawn inminimus posted a thread lately asking for questions you'd like to see answered:.
prisca asked how many online romances there were here.. i got to thinking about that at work, among other things (see previous thread).
and besides the "slim pickings" mentioned by a poster in another thread, another potential problem came to mind.. we can probably divide ourselves into two groups here: the "ex-jw's' and the "never-jw's.

I agree with the others who have said that love can blossom anywhere as long as is a mutual will for the relationship to succeed. (Yes...I am a hopeless romantic )
However, there IS a distinct JW culture that so-called "nevers" might have a difficult time understanding. Even after being with someone who spent the majority of their life within the constrains of the WTBTS, it may be impossible for an outsider to fully understand the idiosyncrasies of JW-ism.
I guess the deciding factor is how much of ones identity is inseparable from his/her experience as a Witness... If you feel that you cannot truly connect with someone who does not share that part of your past, you might be happier with an "ex." Otherwise, I say live and love whoever you want to!

Evidence for Evolution?
by LucidSky inall historical and archeological evidence aside, the biggest evidence that convinced me evolution is factual is speciation (also called "micro-evolution").
this is the transformation of one species into two such that the two can no longer interbreed.
there is no need for historical evidence to prove this -- cases of speciation have actually been observed.

I don't know how I feel about the idea of "God"...but I do believe
in evolution. I think it's a beautiful and complex phenomena... -

The JW Response to Brainwashing Accusations
by OrbitingTheSun ini was just thinking about a discussion i had a few years ago when i was still an active jw... .
i asked a pioneer sister why so many people accused jws of brainwashing.
she happily responded, "well, they accuse us of brainwashing because that is what we do.

Yea, that was probably one of the silliest things I have ever heard. -

Highschool Scuba
by LB ina couple of hours from now i'm taking a busload of students down to my local dive shop for an introduction to scuba diving.
i'm pretty excited about it actually.
we signed up 20 kids out of a school of 82. they will each view a video, then i'll assit them into their equipment and they'll get to blow bubbles for 45 minutes or so.

What a wonderful idea LB! I bet you will get
Just as much out of it as the little ones will!
Let us know how that goes, it is always refreshing to hear good stories
like that. It makes all the hard work and struggle seem worthwhile.
