What Did You Give Up To Be A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inbesides giving up our time and assets,is there anything that you particularly felt that you truly "gave up" to become or remain a witness?

I cried for the past
by joelbear ini cried for a long time today, very deeply, sobbing heavily for those i have lost in my life.
mostly due to watchtower rules.. i am developing a new set of bear friends and look forward to good times with them.. the suicidal thoughts have subsided.. i have never really tried to make a concrete set of friends here.
i think its time to do so.

Hi JoelBear I am still relatively new to the board...so we don't know each other yet...but, like many others have already said--I would be happy to be your friend!

I recycled all of my literature. Hopefully it will be used to print something meaningful the next time around.

Today I received my first birthday present EVER
by cruzanheart inand it was really neat!
it felt a little strange, though.
technically, i guess this isn't my first birthday present because big tex left me a dozen roses on my car the first year we met, on the eve of my birthday (with a note that read "to my favorite middle-aged pioneer" - i married him anyway).

The Reasons Why You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inmany here have been raised as witnesses.
others were introduced to the "truth" through various forms of witnessing.
what was the common denominator for remaining a witness for the time that we have?

10. Many Witnesses are uneducated yet are made to feel that they are the smartest people on earth.
Now, THAT... is the truth! And that was something that also amazed me... as I always remembered the proverb/saying "better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." Many Witnesses apparently have never heard of that one.
So true!

Why be so nice to religion?
by IronGland init seems to me that in the u.s. most anything religious is always considered a good thing.
nearly all media go out of their way for religious organizations in ways they rarely would for anything else.
for all the religion bashing whining that the christians do in this country, i rarely see anything in public that bashes religion any more than anything or anyone else.

YOUR BEST DRUNK STORY
by Mary inwhat's the worse thing you ever did while drunk (assuming we've all been drunk).........when i was 16, we all got blitzed out of our minds at a witness wedding that happened to take place on hallowe'en.
anyway, on our way home we thought it'd be funny to whip eggs at passing cars.
unfortunately, the first (and last) car i hit was a cruiser.......i realized this as the egg was in mid-air.

Interesting Early Christian History info
by back2dafront injust thought i'd share an article on the net i'm finding rather interesting.
they are presenting the history of christianity in a chronological way that makes everything a lot easier for me to picture and understand.
maybe it's me, but the society's publications never laid things out clearly for me.

Very interesting thread, B2DF. You might like to read some Christian Apocrypha. These accounts were written during the same time as the other books of the Bible, but were excluded from the final composition for one reason or another.
If you are a history lover (as I am) you will love seeing what others where thinking as well as what was considered objectionable to those in power in this stage of Christian development.
