Come out upon my seas,
Curse missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure,
Or am I part of the disease?
Farewell, Dedalus.
im leaving the board, and am compelled to announce it.
but there are a few things i want to say first -- some recollections that (perhaps incongruously) seem germane to my leave-taking of jw.com.
1) my first post was also my first thread, written in the summer of 2000 (on h2o, actually).

does any of the stuff david blane has done (i think this guy is the real deal) or any other magician renew your belief in angels/demons/ghosts if you had lost it after leaving the borg?
has a physhic or other spirit medium ever convince you that someone you knew or loved has crossed over to the otherside?
have you ever encountered anything nonhuman?
I don't care if he's real or not, that man is kinda cute.
I agree, Nickey! He seems like seducer. I can imagine him in Hollywood speaking slowly and charming all of the women. He has already dated Fiona Apple, Madonna, and a few models.
i have been accused of being too similar to the jehovah's witnesses in my teaching about jesus.
please tell me it isnt true.
if you could contrast my perspective in terms of jw belief and approximate your distance from me, i would sincerely appreciate it.
Uh oh...
I mean, Welcome to the board!
i have been *accused* of being a feminist.
i use caps, because this term has been used in a derogatory manner when used in reference to things i have posted.
the online merriam webster dictionary defines feminism as: .
Women who believe that they are superior to men are NOT feminists. They are sexists. FEMINAZIS is what my feminist friends call them. Simply as that. If the definition of a feminism is about "equality" then there is no space for extremes. Equality is equality.

I understand what you mean, Ariell. We are capable of some amazing things. I think the magic is that we underestimate ourselves. Then when someone goes to above and beyond what is expected, it seems supernatural. Psychology can explain many of the experiences people have with psychics. Stinky knows more about that than I do.

Magic
1 a : the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces b : magic rites or incantations
2 a : an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source b : something that seems to cast a spell : ENCHANTMENT
3 : the art of producing illusions by sleight of hand
So, there are many definitions of magic. Most magicians, including David Blaine, do not pretend to have supernatural powers. Magicians practice for years and years to master their trade; if it were supernatural no practice would be necessary. David Blaine is the "real deal" in the sense that he has dedicated his life to magic and to the excitement that magic adds to our lives. He has never claimed to be more than human; in fact, I have seen him on a number of occassions say that everyone is capable of what he does and his greatest wish is that he can inspire people to create magic in their everyday lives.
are feminists unattractive?
i mean physically.
most of the feminists i've met were either ugly, dykey or both.
As a scientist (first), a feminist (second) and a student at a women's college, I am around many beautiful scientists and even more beautiful feminists. Perhaps you have a different idea of beauty than I do.
Instead of using the word "feminist" or "feminism" perhaps you should use "sexist" or "sexism" because there is nothing wrong with feminism. In fact, to be feminist is to be beautiful.
just wondering... with all this hot weather we're having at the moment (92 in wsm, which for the uk is as hot as it gets), are sisters still expected to wear tights - that's pantyhose btw - to the meetings and when out in the ministry?.
her ladyship says that only old dears wear tights in summer anyway.. so, what is the current permitted apparel for sisters?
are trousers now allowed?
Culottes aren't even allowed... And I consider those more "modest" than skirts because when you cross your legs nothing shows.
