Okay ladies - did you experience this? Young men who wanted to date, usually unless you were a "babe", you got the leftovers, the not-so-cute, as they say, still living at home with Mom at 30 and generally nice but not the greatest in the manners department. That was my experience. I dated a few guys, none of which I remember very well. I remember thinking "this is what I have wanted all my life?" - the guy who pay for dates using buy one get one free coupons and asking you to order water? How about, after the 3rd date, you kissed the guy on the cheek and he thought you were a loose sister? Ahh, those were the days. Makes me want to heave when I think about it...

What are your experiences of dating in the truth?
by goofy ini really never dated that much inside the orgainisation because of a lack of available brothers.
the couple of times i did not great.
i once asked a brother out and it was all over the congregation as to how inappropriate that was since it should be the man who does the asking.

Offerings at Christian Church's
by goofy inwhat do you think about offerings or collection plates being passed at church's?
i sometimes go to this christian church and they pass a plate.
being raised a witness, i sometimes get a weird feeling that they are doing something wrong and it bothers me?

I have no problem with it. It is the way the church pays the bills. Because I have been visiting so many new churches, I haven't contributed to any in a long time...

(Post has been corrected!) Suppose you don't WANT a JW funeral?!?
by razorMind ini have been to a couple of funerals recently (both of relatives who've never been jw's; however married to jw spouses) and have been appalled, absolutely appalled at how the wishes of the deceased have been ignored and horned in on by jw drivel/dogma.. .
the most recent funeral was for a relative who didn't even believe in god (was never a jw), but the jw spiel droned on for so long that the deceased's own "worldly" siblings were glancing at their watches in disbelief.
one of the siblings had a speech at the funeral ceremony, and was very touching and heartfelt in talking about the deceased's life, but then a jw relative had a speaking part too, and lost everyone from that point on.

It seems that JW's will stomp and pitch fits until they get their way. My grandmother wasn't a JW and when she died last year, my father was absolutely determined to give her a JW funeral. It didn't matter what we felt, he was her POA and even prevented the use of blood transfusions during her final illness. JW's don't care about anyone but themselves and protecting their turf and making sure they shove their beliefs down everyone's throat until they get their way..Consider cruzanheart's recent tragedy...people showing up with brochures to hand out at her father's memorial service...the gall of these people just never stops does it...

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a federal law where no one can be turned away from a hospital based on payment? I remember my friend telling me that no hospital can be denied treatment...please fill me in....

I had been on a JW site for a while a couple of years ago and was kicked out for mentioning that Charles Taze Russell was buried next to a pyramid. I got a really nasty email, sailing I was stumbling newly interested ones. She said "even though it's true Russell is buried next to a pyramid, it isn't reflective what we believe and you're just trying to cause divisions...blah blah blah..." So being kicked out is nothing new for us. And all I did was tell the truth!

Definitely only special occasions. Like sandy, I hate what alcoholism can do to relationships.

I have heard different stories. I heard they closed up for "security reasons." I don't know what it's true. If what I think is true based on previous behavior, it makes my skin crawl.
