Actually, I remember some of the convention being pretty good. It's what kept you going because you had to endure a hot sticky convention with men in cheap Sears suits saying blah blah blah, the same old thing every year. But I remember all the sisters wanting to make sandwiches so they could meet men and find their potential new spouses. But since Jehovah took that away from them, it was time to round the halls looking for men.

What's your best day of the week?
by JH inwe always say the week end are the nicest days of the week, cause most of us are off.
but other than that, what is your nicest day of the week and for what reason?
i always liked mondays and wednesdays and fridays because there were no meetings on these days.. how about for partying, drinking and having fun, which night did you rather?

Saturday, because that's when I awaken at the crack of dawn and put on my best dress and hose (even in the hot Texas summer), gather the latest literature and books stashed in my bookbag, put on make up and hop in the car for service...not!

I will be 50. Probably getting flyers from AARP. Hopefully, I will have furthered my education and have learned not to make the same mistakes twice. Like Billygoat, live my life one day at a time.

I knew a guy who had been disfellowshipped 3 times and went back each time. Definitely a glutton for punishment. He finally stopped messing with his fellow spiritual sisters and married. I think that's what cured him of his disfellowshipping trend.

Josh redeemed himself last night with Bee Gee's music. I wasn't blown away with any of these. However Clay's voice is amazing and he will definitely have a career. I see him doing Broadway or something like that. I think Ruben will win. He seems to be the crowd's favorite. And Josh has a career in country. I still say he should be on Nashville Star.

Why were 'LARGE GATHERINGS' bad?????????? when they sounded so good.
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inmy hubby and i were discussing this point the other day and having a giggle as we remembered the stress it caused some elders.. we got to thinking that there must have been some really good parties going on that we were not invited to because we never witnessed anything shocking or resembling debauchery.
we began to feel left out because the elders often did talks warning us about the dangers associated with 'large' gatherings, and they sounded like much more fun than the ones we had been too.. i mean, we went to parties where the elder organised bible characters celebrity heads, question and answer games based on bible events, no alcohol, and finishing up by 10pm.......(then we would go back to my place and have a good time).
we were invited to a 'large' group that met in someones house every sunday afternoon for 'kingdom melodies" sing-a-longs, but that was one large gathering we were never tempted to go to.. the elders' talks indicated that some people were having more fun than us.

The big thing in our area back in the 80's were the large gatherings of skate parties. Talk about rude people. The JW groups would get thrown out of the Pizza Hut for being rude, loud and obnoxious.

I never could understand the ban on proms. I remember an old JW friend of mine went to her prom anyway and got an earful from the elders. What a bunch of nasty ol' elders!
