I miss thinking I was better than everyone else and playing that combative game in service from time to time - Twisted Scripture.

Museum
by ClassAvenger inis it true that they have a section for jehovah witnesses in the holocaust museum in washington?
a jw friend told me about it, and i was like "really?".
if it's true, why is there a section for them?

When I visited Dachau in 1980, we toured the museum and watched a short film about the history of the concentration camp. I remember hearing the Jehovah's Witnesses being mentioned as people who were persecuted. Perhaps someone has been there more recently and can refresh my memory!

Ending Relationships
by oldcrowwoman in"it takes courage and honesty to end a relationship---with friends, loved ones, or work relationship.. sometimes, it may appear easier to let the relationship die from lack of attention rather than risk ending it.
sometimes it may appear easier to let the other person take responsibility for ending the relationship.. we may be tempted to take a passive approach.
instead of saying how we feel, what we want or don't want, or what we intend to do, we may begin sabotaging the relationship, hoping to force the other person to do the difficult work.. those are ways to end relationships, but they are not the cleanest or easiest ways.. as we walk this path of self-care, we learn that when it is time to end a relationship, the easiest way is one of honesty and directness, we are not being loving, gentle, or kind by avoiding the truth, if we know the truth.. we are not sparing the others's feelings by sabotaging the the relationship instead of accepting the end or the change, and doing something about it.

Letting go of relationships, particularly those I wanted to keep going, was always difficult for me. I remember in the WT having "good" friends until I left it. I am sure if I popped in at a KH, I would be love bombed by them. Most people who knew me now just remember me - barely. Mind you, these are very nice people, just deceived by that ol' nasty Society. I now only talk to one person in the JW's. She's on her way out, so I am hopeful she'll join me on this side of the tracks.
The harder ones are those of friends of many years, who simply do just grow apart. I decided to try and find some of old chums via the Internet. I have found a few and I have to say all were glad to hear from me again. We now have plans to meet again (if I ever get to their home state) and I would love that. But some people you have in your life will never be there again. I have learned to let go and start another journey. That's what this is, isn't it?

Why are females in authority such bitches? I am sure not all are like that. There is a wonderful woman at my job whom I respect immensely. Several years ago she gave a speech on a woman's worst enemy in the workplace, she says they are other women! I have had good female bosses, but they are in the minority. I say most women can be horrid!

Did You Ever Steal?
by minimus intoday, i heard about how a very beloved relative of ours that recently passed away from cancer, had a reputation for stealing.
she would often go in stores and switch tags on clothing or other items (among other things).
we were shocked to find this out by a number of other relatives.

Mr. Minimus, you now have my heart, my soul and my admiration. It wasn't 4 years ago...let's just say Jimmy Carter was President.

Stole here and there when I was younger. I worked at a local amusement park and stole the Sugar Babies in the store where I worked. Also took some other things through the young years. Never shoplifted at a store, I was smart enough not to do that. My friend used to do that though. She stole jewelry from the pharmacy across the street from our high school. Never got caught. I think the last time I took something was when I was about 17, so it's been a few years.

Are You Afraid To Express Your Opinion???
by minimus indo you feel intimidated or uncomfortable when giving your opinion?
do you shy away from expressing yourself if you believe that the majority will disagree??
?

Definitely depends on the situation. When I was a JW, I felt I had carte blanche in expressing my opinion, especially on religious issues. (I used to go off this time of year when all the churches had "fall festivals.") I always express my opinion when it comes to marital situations, and definitely politics (I am turning into such a liberal, my husband is Charlton Heston NRA conservative.)
