EXPLAIN THIS.......Real, mystical, or what?

all the talk on recent threads about what is real and what is beyond the explainable made me decide to reveal something that happened to me.

i usually keep these things close to the vest, because i truly do believe in the phrase: "he that knows does not speak.

Does anyone else have a problem with conformity?

recently my husband and i moved south to an area known as the 'bible belt' for his job.

we are northerners and from a liberal area.

i just cannot seem to tolerate the amount of 'shut-up and put-up' around here.

For example, I went to my new Dr. after moving here, she told my 3 year son to sit down and be quiet during the appointment.
Sounds like a good idea to me!

the world's most accurate map maker advertises: .

we have the only satellite camera that can precisely measure every road and highway on the planet!

The reason a map of real terrain can be accurate or erroneous is because it claims to represent reality. Maps of make believe land are much easier to pass of as accurate because the map is the journey.
Organizations like The Watchtower Society tell its members to put living on hold until the new world. Deny themselves all pleasure and freedom of expression, avoid The World.
Instead hide away in Kingdom Halls and read the maps, books with writing, descriptions and pictures of the journey and the destination. They tell of people who have successfully made the journey with their help and those who got lost because they didn’t buy one of their maps.
Reading and distributing their maps have taken the place of travel and become the journey. If you are a JW, to end your journey just stop reading the maps. You were never really going anywhere anyway.

Maybe I am a bit slow but I don't get it...........
We are told by Christian's that the wages sin pays is death - whereas faith in Christ leads to everlasting life.
How can someone who has paid the price for their sins and died then be granted everlasting life so that that they can suffer in Hell, either metaphorically or literally?

i have met him - he is getting old now but he's no less intelligent or fascinating.

some 40 years ago he wrote a well respected book called "a practical guide to qabalistic symbolism".

As for your thread - I would like to think that there is no such thing as ESP but alas I have had a number of experiences that I cannot ignore.
So, I have an open mind but keep bouncers at the entrance, to carefully check out ideas before they are allowed in.

How come the women's restrooms always stink at assemblies....

i mean i use public restrooms...even gas station restrooms on occassions and they never smelled like the assembly bathrooms.

i thought that they were suppose to be clean people????.

just thought i'd ask....

I don't get why you Americans call it a Restroom - you don't go there to rest.
Or the Bathroom when there is no bath there.
Lavatory, Water Closet or Toilet are more accurate terms. I personally prefer Loo or Bog!

the trinity doctrine is a conceptual classification.

it is not a thing itself.

we don't bump into a trinity in everyday life.

The trinity is a very limited view of god or gods. There are hundreds gods and many concepts of what god or gods actually mean or represent.
The Christian trinity is just another closed shop interpetation of a the concept of god or gods. What it means to be a Christian is as fiercely debated as what it means to be an Atheist.
A philosopher is free to pontificate on the subject of gods to infinitum because the number of gods one can believe in is only limited by one's imagination and the desire to believe.

Your thoughtful reply is in my humble opinion, spot on.
We are of the earth and rely on its oxygen and the warmth of the sun. The reason we are so suited to planet earth is that we are a product of planet earth.
