Thinking of you at this difficult time.
You will fly high again - just not today.
my jw brother in law is one the phone with me right now.
when it rains it pours when it comes to sorrow.
Thinking of you at this difficult time.
You will fly high again - just not today.
alright, so i'm reading on this site, and i'm not 100% sure what it's about.
it appears to be a bunch of former jw people bashing everything they can get their hands on in relation to jw's.. .
i was brought up as a jw, but when i got older and started to think for myself, i began to realize that i didn't agree with their teachings.

This is a site where people come to dip their toes and then pour out their grief at having been duped by the WT society. Then to help advise and comfort others who follow.
Finally we show off and massage our egos. No, I'm not cynical just realistic and happy to be here.
Come in and enjoy the water but put your beliefs in a locker before you take the plunge - it's scary ride!
this thread has probably been 'done' a million times before but as i am fairly new to the forum i would like to ask (quite seriously)......... if you still beleive in god do you also still believe in paradise on earth?.
my friend has realised that it's not the truth.....not sure whether her belief in the above will change though.. thenks bbinkss.
Paradise already exists on earth.
In my case it is a village pub called The George & Dragon just 5 minutes from my house. George is a good landlord but I have yet to meet the dragon. She stays upstairs.
Maybe your paradise is waiting for you just around the corner. 'Heaven is a place on earth.'
i prayed before i came on here.
i know that it weird.
i have been reading here for a long time.

Welcome to the board.
It is not clear what you are looking for but you can be sure that there will always be those who want you to adopt their belief system.
Some people here are itching to sell you their Jesus loves you story. Others are atheists. Then there are those who ain't too sure.
Remember - breaking through a prison wall into another cell will not make you an expert on escapology.
i have had a continuing saga of a 25 year friendship, gone terribly wrong.
bitterness is very high, on both of our parts.
every-time i think things have calmed down, and we are dead to each other, something else is said on her part.
I don't get this be a MAN. DO Something!!!! & BE THE MAN OF THE HOUSE.
I thought that being a man now meant treating women as equals and not taking charge of their affairs.
I am confused. Perhaps your husband is?
i go back and forth everyday.
one day i'm like, "suppress your gay feelings and what you think is wrong about this organization and keep going forward because you want eternal life and all of your friends are here and it's as close to the truth as it can possibly get so just deal with it.
" others i'm like, "live your life.

First start at the beginning and make certain there is a god. That will take the rest of your life as you may never be certain.
If you decide to believe in a god because you acquire faith, you then need to ask where you ever got the idea from that god would need an organisation on this planet?
Lastly you can ask if the WTS is god's organisation?
By then the WTS will have ceased to exist and you will be saved the task of further enquiries.
Or you could just skip the whole process and be true to yourself and your feelings and live your life.
so many of us have suffered so much here in our experience with the watchtower cult and at the hands of others.
this afternoon's segment of npr's this i believe reminds us of the liberating power of forgiveness.
i heard it on the drive home and wanted to share it here with you.

You quote me saying:
If theoretically, say, god forgives us our sins because we believe in Jesus and then we change religions, the forgiveness is withdrawn.
Then ask:
On what basis do you make this statement? Adding: When God forgives us our sins, he does so completely and does not withdraw that forgiveness…and does not rule out the possibility that we can walk away from Him and His forgiveness (grace).
Do you not see that if we can walk away from his forgiveness it is conditional.
You say:
God honours our free will.
Clearly he does not. Because if we use our free will to walk away he cease to forgive and withdraws his offer of everlasting life. This is not honouring free will.
Fortunately when I entered into the illogical world of Biblical theology I wisely used the word ‘theoretically.’

Some very good points have been made and I found the comments by Narkissos well thought out. To me forgiveness is one of those words that needs to be explained. Like spirituality, mystical, god or miracle.
I prefer to use the word acceptance. If we can accept something that has happend, we have come to terms with it and can and move on. If theoretically, say, god forgives us our sins because we believe in Jesus and then we change religions, the forgiveness is withdrawn.
Humans forgive but the forgiveness is still in subtle ways conditional. Whereas with acceptance we move on but if we are wronged to many time we can decide that acceptance is no longer possible and encourages wrongdoing. Then we take action and demand recompense.
Nothing has to be withdrawn, no emotional position has to be changed. To my pernickety mind acceptance makes more sense than forgiveness.
Now that's what I call a carbon footprint.
So much energy and joy coming from one small carbon unit.
Amazing and uplifting.
i am thankful to jehovah's witnesses who taught me the bible.
i still believe it is the word of god.
i have studied other spiritual traditions and have compared different teachings and haven't found one that gives such a positive outlook on the future.
Proof is never needed to have faith, just a desire to believe in something unseen.
Once proof is provided faith is not needed. As the Christian requirement for salvation is faith, proof is the enemy because it makes faith redundant.
Fortunately for Christians there is no proof for their beliefs so faith is free to flourish.
