whats the central belief of jehovahs witnesses?
the very core of the religion?.
some people, alanf for example, have at times suggested that it is nothing more or less than we (wtbts) speak for god .

its easy "beautiful so that men would love them!
and dumb so that they would love men!".
but the real question why does the society love their people dumb?.
Refiners Fire says: "In the animal Kingdom, to get a mate its the male that puts on the big displays, bright colours, enhancing his appearance.
I wanna know why, in human courtship its the other way around.
Its the women who dress up and advertise, enhance.
Whys that??"
It's easy. In the world of humans, men have money!!!
would witnesses do anything they are told?.
what do you think?if the gb came out with a new policy, such as you must now spit at people who dont take the mags off you on the ministry, and give some obscure scripture to prove it.. would the witnesses do it?
or would they twig something is not right?.
BIG BROTHER made it clear years ago that total obedience to them is a requirement of membership to their club.
To run ahead of the Society is a sin in their eyes. Members must remain silent and pretend they agree with all official teachings. This includes encouraging those they call on in their ministry to accept the false teaching. Distributing Watchtowers that carry known errors is also part of their ministry. If the Society does eventually alter its mind on the matter, then the members are allowed to alter theirs. If the Society never does or comes up with a third alternative, the members must follow suit. It claims to be responsible for the personal beliefs of the membership.
“We should meekly go along with the Lord’s theocratic organization and wait for further clarification, rather than baulk at the first mention of a thought unpalatable to us and proceed to quibble and mouth our criticisms and opinions as though they were worth more than the slave’s provision of spiritual food. Theocratic ones will appreciate the Lord’s visible organization and not be so foolish as to pit against Jehovah’s channel their own human reasoning and sentiment and personal feelings.” (Watchtower 2 January 1952 – Page 8)

i cannot tell a lie with a straight face.
women seem to be able to lie and you cannot even have a clue they are not telling the truth.. why is that?.
are women better liars?
YYHWH,
I could be that women don't lie any better than men. It's just that instead of watching their body language and working out whether they are lying - we are watching their bodies and thinking - does she fancy me.
We are simply not objective when faced with an attractive women. I have assumed we are talking about atractive women? They are the only kind I am interested in talking about. I don't care if they do lie to me. Sad isn't it - Just another typical male!

new procedure for d-f'd at the memorial?
i've gone from being an elder to being a man who can hardly bring himself to open his well-thumbed bible.
Liquidizer - that’s an appalling way to be treated.
The Christian belief is that Christ died for our sins and those wishing to benefit from this arrangement can show their desire by taking part in the memorial service. As most Witnesses have been told they will not go to heaven, they are forbidden to partake. For them to do so would be considered “partaking unworthily,” and they are warned that this could cost them their lives. So how do they believe they benefit from this arrangement?
They are allowed to watch the chosen few in their congregation partake at an annual event called “the memorial” By watching them partake, they believe they qualify to live forever on earth. They are called observers. What if none of these chosen ones are in their congregation? In this event, the commemoration takes place in the same way, but no one, not even those taking the ceremony partake of the emblems. The wine and the bread are passed around and return to the table untouched. The members present are not even able to watch someone else partake and claim to have been observers.
How can a Christian claim to have taken part in the Lord’s Supper just by passing the plate and glass. This mockery of the Lord’s Supper seems strangely removed from the example that Jesus gave Christians to follow.
To be a Witness, one is denied of partaking in the Lord’s Supper with other Christians - the most fundamental act of faith a Christian can perform. To not even let someone pass the emblems is a step further away from Christianity.
One would think that of all those in attendance, the disfellowshipped ones should be in the front row draining the glasses in an attempt to benefit. I mean Jesus was supposed to have died for sinners – wasn’t he – and not a bunch of self-righteous suits!
ok. i've been thinking again (?
) and wondering if i was god what would i have made shure was in the bible.. for a start i would have tried to help my human creatures fight against diseases.. it would'nt have took many pages to explian that there were such things as germs and that you needed to wash things well , and boil contaminated water etc.. this would have prevented millions of early deaths and a lot of suffering.
You would think that if God could write a book to us, all those years ago - now he would have a Web site of his own. Ah! Hold on! May be he has - and he is working through simon?
i am trying to prove a point to a jw, and i was wondering if anyone has a specific passage from any of the publications where they specifically reference faithful men of old such as abraham, isaac, and jacob as having an earthly hope, vs. a heavenly one?.
thanks in advance!
The first time the WT decided that Abraham would go to heaven - as far as I know.
The booklet “Millions Now Living Will Never Die” written in 1920 stated under the heading “Earthly Rulers:”
“As we heretofore stated, the great jubilee is due to begin in 1925. At that time the earthly phase of the Kingdom shall be recognised. The Apostle Paul in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews names a long list of faithful men who died before the crucifixion of the Lord and before the bringing of the selection of the church. These can never be a part of the heavenly class; they had no heavenly hopes; but God has in store something good for them. They are to be resurrected as perfect men and constitute the princes or rulers of the earth according to his promise (Psalm 45:16; Isaiah 32:1; Matthew 8: 11) therefore we may confidently expect that 1925 will mark the return of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the faithful prophets of old, particularly those named by the Apostle in Hebrews chapter eleven, the condition of human perfection.” (Pages 88 & 89)
The Society had decided that the Bible’s faithful men of old including Abraham would not go to heaven. They had reserved this hope for themselves. Not only were they going to heaven but also they were to be Kings and Priests with Jesus.
Members around the world spread the word and eagerly looked forward to Armageddon and the return of the faithful men of old. As late as 1924 the Society maintained the anticipation and repeated their prophecy:
“We should therefore expect shortly after 1925 to see the awakening of Able, Enoch, David, Abraham, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, John the Baptist, and others mentioned in the eleventh chapter of Hebrews.”(“The Way To Paradise” - Page 224)

Thanks pete2,
I've been just been busy living and enjoying this wonderful planet....
what would you say if a close friend was to come to you and say: "i've secretly been studying with jehovah's witnesses and i plan to join their organization.
i know how you feel about the witnesses, but i truly feel that they are god's chosen organization.
i don't really want to hear anything negative about the society, but out of respect for our friendship, i'll let you briefly mention one reason why i shouldn't.
Reading this thread, brought to mind the scriptural warning made by Jesus in his sermon on the mount:
“Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves. You will recognise them by the fruits they bear.” (Matthew 7:15,16 – NE)
Whether this scripture can be applied to the Watchtower Society depends on what kind of fruit they have produced. Have the prophecies made by them ripened or turned bad? Have those that received the Society’s fruit been satisfied or disappointed?
The Watchtower Society state that, thousands of people have listened to their message with belief. In view of their record of failed prophecies, do these same people still listen with belief? Those who listened with belief and helped to proclaim the warning were threatened with excommunication if they ever dared to question the Society’s “truths” which they have referred to as “unquestionable certainties.”

I found your post interesting metatron.
I agree with you. There are many more effective ways in which the WT could promote itself. People now days in the UK are irritated by door-to-door callers. It is an obsolete method of contacting people.
Many would be JWs are put off by the requirement of going from door-to-door and having their standing judged according to how much they report. The kids that are dragged around the doors have all my sympathy.
