Ally. I am far from telling you what you should do. I don't want to encourage or discourage you. Whatever the org is or whatever the people in it are, do what you want. You feel happy with them - good. You don't have to be baptised or a publisher to study, go to meetings or socialise. I know quite a few who come to meetings, mix with JWs but are Not formally members. Maybe it is an option for you. You have to decide though.

After brexit many Poles and JWs from EU will leave. They already are. And it will be one of factors that figures will drop , I suppose

There are many symptoms of decrease and I guess it is going to get even slower.
1. New ones are mainly foreign language speakers. At English conventions many foreigners get baptised. An influx of Polish JWs has brought not only new members but many active JWs came over. 10 years ago there was 0 Polish circuits, now 3 or 4.
2. Many English congs especially rural ones are getting old. I know at least 5 where average age is over 60 and they have 50% at their meetings for obvious reasons.
3. Preaching pattern is plain stupid. They go out in mornings for an hour or so knocking on empty places. Btw Mormons in my town do their job at night and they do catch people in. Even local Witnesses can see it.
4. 3 years ago at the elders school, a teacher from the branch did maths: 80% not at homes (to be positive, it can be around 90%), average 4 people per house but just 1, the same, in the morning (others at work or school). It makes - JW reach just 3-5% of population in.
I must say that foreign JW are much more zealous and friendly in general. Sorry if I upset anybody.

I think the org is doing just fine financially.
1. They have dropped much of production. They outsource a lot (DVDs etc).
2. They have donations coming in.
All in all: Even if donations are wors, the regular spendings are lower.

Observations From an Ex-Elder Part 3 - Searching for the Lost Sheep

Hi. Ex elder here. I had been one for nearly 20 years, special pioneer for 5, I think.
I used to be a butthole sometimes, I have to admit. Never power hungry though.
I think what many of us suffer from, is dissonance between the org as it really is and as , we believe it should be. Of course, based on natural human feelings and the Bible we imagine it is love based and driven. Everybody in wants to do his or her best for God and fellow humans (actually I am sure there are many decent people in the org). It mirrors what we feel and are.
But in reality.. the more we are in the org, we know more and we see it is just our imagination. People are as everywhere power hungry, stupid, lazy, nasty. And at the same time many are lovely, helpful, genuine.
My conclusion for now is. In or out the Borg it is exactly the same poo pond. I spoke to ex Coe minister. He said that the church thought him that no one is interested in the truth. The bloke was bloody right.
As the book says: there is nothing better than to eat, to drink, and enjoy your wife;) Do not torment yourself. Enjoy what you have got.
All the best to you.
Still,

Well. Not much to see about the generation. Theta are meny threads here. But I was reading Isa60:4. It says that generation after generation were in Babylonian exile. So. If 70 years(according to WT) is generation after, I stress, after generation, then one generation surely can't be more than 70 years. Besides, you don't have to be a scholar to see what generation is.

Last Week I Got A Call From An Elder I Haven't Seen In 20 Years...😳
by minimus inwhile i was at work i got a phone call from an elder i haven't seen in decades!
he started asking me questions about my family, my ex, and told me that he heard i "was no longer in the truth".
i got a little defensive and he quickly picked up on it and assured me his call had nothing to do with checking up on me regarding the religion.

So... there are not JWs and the rest. The world is divided between sensible and stupid. I guess

I was manning a cart not long ago. O, aye:)
A man, who I suspect is familiar with this site comes to me. He asks: Do you really believe that the Bible is the best guide in life? I answer: I do believe it is book from God but there are things I do not understand.
Then we have half an hour long conversation on the law etc. It was interesting. And then he asks me to explain the generation and , particularly, what overlapping is. I answer that I can't explain as it is something I don't comprehend myself. The man shakes my hand, says that he understands and respects my point. And he leaves.
True story. A pioneer couple herd the conversation and commented that it was the best to say as it is not possible to explain overlapping generation with the Bible. They have been in many different fulltime activities for 3 decades.
I think GB knows that what they expressed is very common attitude amongst R&F
