hello.. after lurking around for some time decided to join.
i've been df for 32 years...and glad for it.. i'd pretty much laid the jw stuff to rest until last year when my older sister, after years of absence from my life, made comment to me about "struggling with the truth.
" i took it upon myself to begin some research and have been "hooked" on these type forums since.

my jw dad called me this morning and told me that he found my jw uncle dead, face-down on the floor in his home.
he's taking it hard.
i was shocked to hear him say that he wanted me to be with the family.
So very sorry to hear this, Fire Dragon. Prayers are with you.

i really love this web site and yes i'm a jw still, have been for 8 years now, i'm 35 and am married to a jw and have two boys one is 1-1/2 and the other 5. for about 2 to 3 years now i'm starting to see that its not really the truth.
the brothers, sisters and elders dont really care about anyone, the watchtower is ruining my life, i have been depressed for awhile now and i'm on anti depressants as i started feeling suicidal as i'll never be good enough as i hate meetings, i hate going door to door, and it doesn't make any sense that jehovah will destroy good people just because they don't follow its doctrins.
its like saving to your son if you don't do what i tell you i will kill you.
Welcome. Lapuce. We've been there and look forward to your story.

i live in klumbus ohio, in a neighborhood that ain't da hood but it ain't the 'burbs either.. it seems that if you are a male under 25 in my area and you don't have a 10,000 watt car stereo that shakes the whole neighborhood, well, you're nothing.. i don't get hip-hop culture.
i think that it is a screaming commentary on the cultural rot in the usa.. could someone comfort me or help explain the appeal of this pervasive sub-culture?
the depravity of it all makes me feel so hopeless sometimes.. maybe i'm a little too narrowly caucasian in my outlook.
Oh, I am so-o-o-o glad I'm not alone.
I had to sell a condo after 3 years of listening to that hip-hop rap crap coming up from the downstairs apartment. In the middle of the night. Full blast. The guy had 2 band-size speakers in his bedroom (which was under my bedroom) and partied all night. He also had a police band radio, I swear, because everytime I called the police, he would turn them off just before they got there. He was the brother of the owner (who left for places unknown) and not a renter. The association couldn't (or wouldn't do anything about him). The other neighbors were too afraid of him to do anything. So after 3 years of fighting with him (and no sleep), I sold the condo and lost my shirt. Turned out he has a rap sheet (so fitting) a mile long. I checked at the County Sheriff's office. A gang member. Now I live in an over 55 community and my neighbors may be old but they are quiet! (although I can still hear the boom-booms from 3 blocks away on a major street).
I had a car pull up to me once which I felt a long, long time before he got to the light. My heart was even vibrating. I had to put my hand over my chest. There was absolutely no music; only a vibrating boom-boom. Ridiculous. Are there any cops on this Board? If so, tell me WHY CAN'T THEY OUTLAW THESE THINGS.
Now I know a lot of people reading this board probably like Rap but IMHO.....it stinks! As far as I'm concerned, it ruined the music industry when it came out and I wish it would die a very fast death!

i am interested in ray franz.
can anybody comment on him?
i've heard rumors, but partial ones from jw's.
I just did a search for "Ray Franz" and "Crisis of Conscience". There's enough there to keep you reading for a while. Yes I have read both CofC and "In Search of Christian Freedom". You should definitely read them. He is an ex-Governing Body member and you will learn what goes on behind the closed doors.

"if i said i would give you $168 every week, the only condition being that you would give me back $1, would you do it?
and yet, jehovah lovingly and freely gives us 168 hours of life each week.
he is asking back only one hour in the form of a bible study.
AMEN..........

Hi, Lady:
So nice to have a face and a voice to go with the name. You look great. I listened to your tape snippet. Will take a better look tomorrow as its 2:30 a.m. right now. Yes, I'm addicted.

after all that we had drummed into us about not the cross, and particularly about not venerating the symbol itself, i have been wondering about this issue.. so, what are your views about wearing a cross around your neck ?
is it just a fashion accessory, or does it mean something to you ?.
inquiring minds would like to know
I wear a beautiful diamond cross and never take it off. When I was a JW, I had thrown out my cross and it was one of the first things that I put back into my life when I left the WTS. I am a Christian. It is a Christian symbol of the love God has shown for us in the sacrifice of his son. It means a great deal to me and I will always wear one.
