  BBC-Panorama on the Finnish Tv

  the cut version of the panorama programme on paedophilia issue among the jw community was shown on our national tv-channel 2 on the 12th of december.

  after the bbc's section the local pr man, mr. leinonen, was interviewed.

  he was asked what the situation is here in our country and how the issue is or will be dealt with.

  ) i hit this forum as soon as i wake up, read forum as i am eating breakfast, read forum again after i finished showering, hit forum while i am getting dressed, hit forum last minute before leaving for work and hit forum when i get home from work.. *passes on thread to the next poster*.

  Been lurking and now I've found me voice!

  been looking around for a while and have posted a few times but said nothing real significant.

  well, anyway, i thought it was about time i said "hi and it's good to meet you all".

  like many of you, i too have a story but not ready to share it yet, as i have two beautiful daughters trapped in the borg and i'd hate to do anything to jeopardize my relationship with them, you never know who lurks around or am i being paranoid!

  Hello to all of you...

  i've been visiting this website for months and decided it's time for me to say hello to all of you... so "hi!

  i have been away from the wts for a while, but lately have felt a need to get in touch with others who have travelled the same path.

  until relatively recently, i thought that all was "well" (relatively speaking) in the organization, but have found it facinating to read the comments of those who are still associated with the wts and how they are dealing with it.

  Help! Neighbor starting a study

  i am so furious.

  the very zealous elderly pioneer sister who lives across the street (alberta) has been canvassing the neighborhood for studies.

  i watch her walk up and down the street and being very friendly and helpful with her neighbors (all the while preaching to them i'm sure).

  I brought this thread back to the top as I had an opportunity to talk to my neighbor, Marie.

  I made up a basket, lined it in red tissue paper, stuck a bow on it and filled it with little koscher truffles wrapped up in gold boxes with ribbon for my 7 Jewish neighbors. I put in 2 cans of tea cakes for the 2 Christian neighbors and 1 box of sugar-free chocolates for my diabetic neighbor. And off I went a "neighboring". What fun I had chatting with them. I work full-time and never get a chance to neighbor very much.

  When I got to Marie's house, her granddaughter was there. I had some material prepared in a file folder but I never had to use it. I just sort of let the conversation flow. I said I used to be a JW and am now enjoying celebrating Xmas again after 11 years. She stated that "the JW lady across the street" (this would be Alberta) was trying to get her granddaughter to study. I asked "And what do you think about that?" She said "Oh, no. I told my granddaughter that I didn't think her daddy would approve of that." To which I agreed and stated that it was a very high control group that completely takes over your life and told her about how my best friend of 26 years was now shunning me and few other little diddies.

  So no problem there. The granddaughter is attending a children's bible study at a mainstream church in the neighborhood. Phew-w-w-w.

  Anyway, just thought you all might want to know how it came out. Especially KistByQPid.

  Welcome, Livinagain. Can't agree more with your name. I'm not from the Atlanta area but my best friend(?) (now shunning me) is from Duluth congregation area. I'm bouncing this to the top to see if there are any late night posters from the Atlanta region on board.

  I was once an angel on a tree.......please read...

  this was inspired by the story freedom96 posted earlier.

  i was in foster care and was placed there right before halloween.

  i celebrated my first halloween, and thanksgiving.

  Yep, adopted my first Angel this year. His name is Carlos and he is age 2. He wanted an educational toy (which Mommy suggested I'm sure ).

  Well, I got him that plus a hooded red sweatshirt and jogging pants...tee hee...they were so-o-o-o small. And a nice soft fluffy Golden Retriever stuffed dog. Every boy should have a dog.

  A girl at work always coordinates an Angel Tree project for children every year. There were 8 bicycles, I believe, given this year. And they, plus all the other presents, were all being stored in her office.

  This was my first year of participation and I loved every minute of it. Never having had kids or any kind of a family (let alone little family members), I am somewhat bewildered in shopping for a kiddie. But I'm learning.
